Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

The fact that they’re only initially selling the Touch of Disney tickets for three weekends (through April 5) has me 👀. It could just be because they’re going to jack up that “initial” price, but it also makes me think they have to have SOME hope of things changing in the April/May range.

My thoughts after reading about this ticketed event?

GTFOH

I'm sorry, Disneyland, but no. I really miss you. I miss you SO much. But no, I will not pay $300 ($75 x 4) for the "opportunity" to walk around DCA and take some photos. This pricing is WAY out of line. Sure, that includes $100 worth of dining cards, but that basically means we have to find a way to spend $100 or we are being fleeced, and it can't be used on alcohol? Why not? Just...no.

Bring it down to $35 per ticket, include the Photopass but make us pay the $25 for parking (ONCE, since the four of us drive in one car), drop the $25 "dining card" and let us pay for what we want to buy.

"Introductory" pricing.

:rolleyes2

They are out of their minds.

Also when this sells out in hours, they’ll see the locals will pay for day tickets, at least at first,.... pushing back the need for any sort of AP offering further.

I'm sure it will. All those influencers are thirsty for content.
Eh, they’re still a fairly small percentage of guests.

Southern CA has a lot of big Disney fans who have not been spending much on entertainment for the past year. They’re gonna show up for anything. They’ve been waiting in lines for hours just to shop at a lightly themed Star Wars merch location.

Not much value there for $75, but like people said, the can charge whatever and still sell out at the capacity they are likely targeting. To be fair though, it sounds like they are going for a “Disneyland without the rides” vibe, which I guess you can make an argument is worth 50 bucks.

I’d pay it if it was Disneyland, but I’ve already been to limited DCA several times.

If this is all that’s still offered when my family stays at VGC over Memorial Day, we’ll absolutely go. Obviously hoping the parks will be open.... but we’d do this. Hoping hotel guests get priority on tickets (park or Festival) once it’s open.

The comments on Disney's social media are not very supportive so far.

I had been anticipating about $60 to $75 range for this not-Festival, Knott's Boysenberry event is $45 so it had to be higher than that. Had been hoping for under $100, because anything over that we would have been priced out. The main disappointment is that I thought there would be dining tabs of about $10 each included with the tickets, I was expecting ~$50 worth of food for a $75 price tag.

Also keep in mind limited capacity means less tickets to sell so they've got to make it worth their time financially to bring those CMs back and offer the things they will over in DCA.

Did I see Dole Whips and monte cristos in that article? 😍 But I agree with most of you, it's expensive for sure.

I had this same thought!! 🤞🤞🤞 Plus GCH opening the villas May 2nd. Makes you wonder if May is their optimistic guess.

As always, I'm sure there's more going on behind closed doors. So here we go again on the rollercoaster of speculation....

Yep. This one is way overpriced considering that Knotts basically offsets the cost by giving you enough food vouchers. They are WAY over over valuing Photopass and Parking here.

You are essentially paying Disney to come shop and dine there. It's like if the mall had a cover charge.

The truth is that demand for Disney is still high and while some people have definitely been hurting financially plenty of other people have been just sitting on their money these many months without their usual entertainment outlets to spend on. Disney only needed to price this event "low" enough to sell out the reduced capacity they will be able to open up. They don't have to care about anyone who would spend less than $75 per ticket because they don't have room for them right now anyway. Honestly, I suspect they could have gone $100 per ticket and still sold out. They also probably don't really need the family demographic to sell out this event, and they are a business so they don't have any interest in allotting limited space to those who are paying less. They can't offer the full range of family entertainment anyway, and though there are always some, there aren't a huge number of kids who are going to be satisfied standing in line over and over for tasting foods or taking pictures. Those who want to just come and shop can still find a lot of the same merchandise at the World of Disney and the other downtown Disney stores without paying the $75 and attending the special event. And those looking for a similar type experience at a lower price point will go to Knott's. It makes sense...Disney needs to get people back to the mindset of paying money to pass through those park gates again and if they make that price point too cheap, it's not going to look like the premium experience they are marketing themselves as in comparison to other theme parks. Now whether they can deliver premium experience to go with the premium price will be much debated. lol
