Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I'm excited for a possible april/may announcement or reopening date!!! Seeing as there are announcements from other parks, plus increase in vaccinations and lower covid numbers means DLR can feel comfortable setting a date. Also it loos like there are active conversations as mentioned in the above post. I'm looking forward to these next two months!!!!

Wahoo, got my “VGC is opening May 2” e-mail:

Dear Member,

Today I’m pleased to share that The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel® & Spa are currently scheduled to reopen on May 2, 2021. Our Cast Members on the West Coast are excited to make their magic once again and “welcome home” Members with enhanced health and safety measures based on guidance from health authorities and appropriate government agencies.

It is important to note that while the Disney Vacation Club Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will open for Members and their guests, the rest of the hotel, as well as the Disneyland®Hotel, Disney’s Paradise Pier® Hotel, Disneyland® Park and Disney California Adventure® Park, remain closed for normal operations and will reopen at a later date. The Downtown Disney®District is open with select shopping and dining experiences.

I have July reservations and will now book (or waitlist) a couple more small reservations to use up banked points (expire 11/30 so I have some time still). Makes me so happy.

Yeah I got the email too... I guess my April reservation will be cancelled, need to figure out what to do with my points before they expire end of May

I think they’ve made that claim a couple of times before, with dates that came and passed. March 23 seems optimistic to me.

There is something suspicious going on with the Disneyland app and "park hours" towards the end of March. On March 28, Disneyland goes from saying "closed" to "schedule unavailable."

Couple this with GWL and Cedar Fair as well as Six Flags claiming "spring" openings...I don't know...seems like maybe they know something we don't yet know.

The current rumors are that the festival at DCA is to start around 3/15 and that Disneyland will be opening Main Street for shopping to compensate for the loss for store space in DCA to the festival attendees.

I’ve noticed and heard the same thing...

Yeah, but DCA is open for shopping NOW and it still says "Closed" for DCA, currently.

I have a reservation in Mid June. I wonder if the parks will be open. On the recent investor's call it sounded like they would not be open in Q1 or Q2 this year.

Does anyone know if people can book the villas for the opening using the point rental sites or do you have to be an actual member to book for this limited reopening?

Good news! OC is officially listed by the state as meeting Red tier for Health Equity Metric at 7.0%, Orange tier for test positivity at 5.4% and Purple for case rate at 11.9 per 100k.

Case numbers are still rapidly declining, averaging around 8 per 100k over the last few days. Still on track to move to Red tier on March 16.
