Disneyland Half Marathon 2024

That sounds so fun! Keep meaning to run across the GWB but never get around to it. I hit up the the Little Red Lighthouse underneath it regularly though.
I've done this run a few times before, it's pretty cool! They shut the entire lower level of the bridge and that's the part you run on. It's also a net negative elevation course b/c it finishes at the bottom of the Palisades by the river

Not sure my vote counts as I'm only doing the half and half (or is that the C2C Marathon?) but I love the Club 71 idea (and the logo!).

I'm incredibly impressed with all of you doing the Dopey + Dumbo challenges. Amazingly I'm not feeling any FOMO for not being able to do it.

I like Club 71!! I’ll be there for Dopey to 5k to DDD. If I’m being honest I’m regretting signing up for the 5k because the travel this is going to require is going to be exhausting. And if I’m being totally honest I wish I would’ve only signed up for goofy, too. But here we are. This is what FOMO and anxiety looks like as it relates to run Disney.

Anyone else requiring plane rides to both parks? What are your travel plans looking like?

I'm still waiting for Southwest to open fares up to Orlando and home from Southern Cal. But I already booked a flight Wednesday afternoon on Delta from MCO to LAX. That's not the optimal destination airport, but there's not many nonstop afternoon flights.

oh non stop is always so nice! I’m going to have to fly home from Orlando to WI for a couple nights and then over to DL. If I wasn’t leaving my husband home solo parenting for the WDW portion I’d leave directly from Orlando. They’re joining for DL so I need to figure out their schedule too. I was planning to do the family vacationing post Dumbo but maybe I should consider doing it pre Dumbo and they can meet me in CA and I can leave directly from FL. 🤔

I'm doing the 10K and Half at both weekends. I'm planning on flying to Florida on Thursday and back home Sunday (waiting on SW!). I'm already booked on JetBlue to CA for Friday, but I'm going to need to change that I think since I did that when I only had the half. We're taking a summer vacation on JetBlue in July so I'm waiting until after that to change anything so I can hopefully use the points earned. And I'm leaving CA late Monday night on a red eye home. Definitely going to be exhausting and I'm not even doing all the running!

As I'm only* running the half in both weekends, I'll likely fly home unless I decide to spend the week leading up to DL in SoCal as a working vacation - but a decision on that likely won't come until the fall - so for now, I'm likely going to hold off booking anything other than hotels.

*By only I'm just referencing the number of races :)

I'm going to have to fly back to Washington State in between the Disney World half and the Disneyland Dumbo. I am only allowed to use up to 5 consecutive personal days, and flying straight over from Florida to California would require 7 consecutive days. My current plan has me taking 4 non-consecutive personal days. We get 3 each school year, but I am banking this year's days forward.

I'm going to need to fly down on Thursday for both weekends, since I'm doing the half on Saturday in Disney World and it takes basically the whole day to travel down. That will allow for the expo on Friday and also a small cushion for January weather. I plan to fly back on Sunday for that weekend.

For Disneyland, I've already booked a Thursday flight and then a return on Monday, which is the MLK Jr. holiday.

Good morning!

I was looking over the the new information that came out yesterday with VDH. I was curious as to if it was worth it to beg someone to rent me points so I can stay there. But the math just doesn't add up. And then they unbundled the taxes and parking, and it makes even less sense. I don't own any DVC points, but I kinda understand how it works, until yesterday's whatever those charts are.

It's Wednesday, it's the last episode of The Mandalorian for this season!

WAFDL: What are your goals for Disney races? Unlike a major marathon or your local race, is there something you do differently at either Lake Buena Vista or Anaheim when you get past the start line?

For my DW, Because she's doing Club 71, obviously, trying to PR isn't her thing, but just doing all 71 miles is her goal. Slow but steady!

I tried to PR the Princess 10K but the field is too big and there are so many choke points on the course.

For the ten miler, I wanted to have fun and finish. It was my first so an automatic PR. As the forecast got warmer, I figured if I needed a quick break, I could stop for some characters. I hopped in line for Edna since her line was short, and the Bell Hops.

My goal for DL 10K is the same, to finish and have fun. Hopefully we'll get better weather. I'm already planning my costume.

WAFDL: I've only run two runDisney races so far (Goofy this past MW), so I do not have a ton of data points. But, my goal was literally just to finish both races as I was drastically undertrained. I ran a lot more competitively years ago when I was in way better shape and about 30 pounds lighter, so I feel like I've had my "day" in that regard. I ran a sub 4-hour marathon and a sub 1:45:00 half marathon back then which are both good enough for me. Lol. So, my plan for pretty much any Disney race going forward is just to have fun and not get swept. I most likely would take a non-Disney run a little more seriously if I trained for one, but I haven't run one of those in years.

Man the VDH thing is crazy.... we were interested in it but not any more, it is even worse then Aulani cause at least parking is included and resale is super cheap there.

WAFDL: Goal to get as many pics as possible and not be swept. I want to get faster so I can get even more pics that I have done other times. It is all about the pics and the medals.
