Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Yay!! You're on your way! I was worried your little one was sick. See ya tomorrow!

Proud of myself yesterday....... drank 3 - 24oz water bottles & only 2 sodas (one caffeinated)......but the draw back of that was..... I was ready for bed about 4 in the afternoon...... and I got a whopper of a headache. So I'm thinking maybe a little too drastic of a reduction on the caffeine.

Today, I've had 2 - 24oz water bottles so far & had one caffeine soda first thing & am drinking another one now..... so far no headache!!!!

So with drinking all this water....does it tend to make others not hungry??? I already have a problem of not eating & with this much water on board....it's even harder to get excited about food....... just wondering?!

Hope everyone is doing good & thanx for the help & support!!!

Oh! For some reason I was thinking twice baked cheetos. Three hours to DL. I5 is boring

Because she was talking about eating it for breakfast, I was picturing it in a bowl with milk and heated in the microwave. Anyway, Cristabel, can ask I you a favor please? It's usually not done, posting pics of food, esp junk food, in a dieting thread, kwim? Thanks and keep on going. I applaud you for being honest on your food journal!

You're doing great!!! Wow, I wish you could have a visual of all that sugar that you're not pouring into your body on a daily basis. Yes, when you drink a lot of water you tend to feel more full. That, and the flushing properties, are why almost every weight loss program encourages drinking water.

Checking in - I lost ONE measly pound! :sad2: Ugh! :headache: I have been sticking with 1200 cals a day and I even made this low cal margarita concoction on Cinco de Mayo! Oh well, I guess it was one pound and I'm not gaining! I knew WW was slow but this slow this early on?? It could be also the BC pill that my dr put me on to stop my irregular AF's, I had trouble in the past losing weight while on The Pill but really...

Oh well...I'll run tonight and continue to follow the eating plan because as Bridgette says it's about being healthy too, right?!?!

I hope everyone else had great sucess!!

Jen - Glad that hear Little Nico is feeling ok...safe travels today!

Congrats on the 1 lb loss!!!! :yay: I'll bet the low cal Margarita helped!

Jen, I'm so glad your son is better and you're on your way. I pity you traveling at rush hour on Friday though. Traffic was a bear today. I'm sorry about the weight but your exercise has been stellar, so keep going.

I woke up and thought maybe I'd take the day off from exercise. But by the end of the day my steering wheel just veered toward the gym. I did the elliptical for 30 min, pushing the speed every two minutes, then two minute down to normal, etc. The heat made this hard so even if I did have the time to stay for longer (I didn't, had to meet DH), I'm not sure I would have.

I am curious to see how I do with it being cooler. I want it just to be the heat.

Have a healthy weekend all!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend & to all the moms, Happy Mother's Day!!!!

I'm actually surprised at how easy it was to decrease my soda intake & start drinking water. I've been holding steady at 3 24oz bottles daily & 2-3 sodas..... still need to cut that back....but that's a huge difference then what I was doing. I'll be curious to see if just cutting back on the soda will make a difference on the scale. Figured I'd wait until Thursday, since that will be the one week mark.

Thank you for the encouragement....next step will be trying to incorporate some kind of exercise in...other than chasing the kids around...of course carrying the 27 & 25 lbs twins around should count towards weight lifting......lol :rotfl2:

Here's to a productive, healthy week for everyone!!!! :thumbsup2

I am so happy to see that you're doing this! Am I counting right, you have SIX kids? Yes, weight-lifting twins does count! :rotfl:

I managed to balance my calories last night by subbing a drink and cocktail nut/rice mix for dinner. Not the healthiest, but woke up at the right weight. Am hitting the gym - I think it will be empty!:yay:

I ate great today and did 40 min of treadmill/elliptical, about 20 of weights, and 1 hour of yoga.

I'm down a pound.

:yay:

(don't worry, all you mothers. You'll burn off today's meal)

I managed to swim both Saturday and Friday. (odd way to order them)...nothing today as my pool is closed for annual maintainance until the 18th. Arrrrggghhhh, just when I got started again.

Hopefully I will manage to use our Nordic trak the next couple of days. I also plan to take a brisk 40-60 minute walk during my lunch the next couple of days!!

Good job on the soda reduction!!!!!

I drink about 2 liters of water every day just because I love water. I get extra exercise rushing to the bathroom every hour too!!!

Why didn't they do the annual pool work in April when it was cooler? You have a Nordic Track? Great!

I didn't have much time today so I did 10 min on the elliptical, then an hour aerobics class (it is so much easier to shake it when you've got a bunch of other people around you), then 10 min on the treadmill. Tomorrow I see my trainer so I am hoping I will show any reduction on the scale, however small!

Where is everybody? Jen's back so you better check in tomorrow.:lmao:

Thought I'd better check-in...... still maintaining at the 2-3 sodas & 3 24oz waters everyday. I'm finding I get so sleepy by about 3pm & need another jolt of caffeine...... the 3rd soda of the day is in the evening...I'm having a hard time letting my orange soda during tv time go. I did some dancing with the girls yesterday.....I wish I had a treadmill I could walk on during tv time....I know that would be much better for me than just sitting there.

Clarification: I have 7 kids, 6 of them live with me. I have 3 boys (biological) ages 23, 22 & 19. I've adopted 4 kids out of foster care that came to us as babies. I have another boy, age 8 & 3 daughters, ages 3 & twins that turn 2 next Tuesday.
They definately keep me busy, so I really enjoy my tv time in the evening....they wear me out.

Still no set exercise, but one step at a time.

So my next huge goal to overcome........... I need to quit smoking :scared1: I know, I can see your reactions as you read that! I've learned I have a very addictive personality & this is really giving me a hard time. I want to quit very badly & still can't seem to go more than a couple hours before I breakdown & grab a smoke. If there are any suggestions (especially from anyone that has been there, done that......) I would welcome them.

Have a great Tuesday & thanx again for the support!

I'm back!:woohoo:

Had a fabulous time in Disneyland and enjoyed myself, including on the food front. I'm not up to weighing myself this morning, but plan to on Friday.

Didn't run at Disneyland, but did a ton of walking. My foot was really bothering me there, but hopefully will be all healed up soon, as I have a 2 hour run this weekend.

Also saw a couple of my DIS Diva workout/get fit buddies -- yeah Vicki and Donna!!!

Big move this morning...I signed back up for Weight Watchers online this morning. I have made zero progress in losing those last ten (ish) pounds since the new year, so I'm going to have to go to a more structured program. Focus will be on sugar, since that is that one thing that I just can't seem to kick.

Here's a STORY OF THE DAY:
Break The Chain
One day a man went to the Circus. He saw many animals; some very powerful. He noticed that all of the very powerful animals were kept caged up. All except for the Elephant. The Elephant looked to be probably the strongest of all. But, the only thing used to restrain him was a little bracelet and chain around one leg fastened to the ground with a peg! The man wondered why the Elephant didn't try to break free from this restraint. He noticed a man who was taking care of the animals and asked him this question. "Why doesn’t this powerful Elephant try to break free from this little chain"? The animal keeper just laughed and said: "Many years ago when the Elephant was small and not as strong as he is now, he did try over and over to break free. But he just couldn't do it. Finally, he just gave up and has never tried again to break free. He doesn't realize that with time he has grown bigger and stronger. He just thinks, "What's the use! I can't do it. I tried before and couldn't do it. I won't even try." Sometimes we forget that circumstances change. Perhaps you set a goal for yourself some years back. Maybe it didn't work out. You might reason "I tried, it didn't work, I can't do it, I won't even try again." However, could it be that over the years your circumstances have changed? Re-analyze. Perhaps you now are able to break free of restraints that at one time prevented you from reaching your goals.

Hi everyone, thought I would check in. I have decided to join weight watchers on monday. Today is my DS's 4th birthday and his party is this coming Sunday. The day after that I am going to a meeting in a nearby city after work. I am looking forward to doing this. It worked for me before and I am hoping that now I am older and (a little) wiser that I can do it for the long haul. My trip with my family is in 4 months and I feel like I need more energy and need to be able to fit in chairs better. Also, I turn 31 in 7 weeks and would like to be at least 12 lbs less than I was last year on my birthday. Why 12? Well, 1 lb per month....and if I do that each year I will be at a good weight by the time my kids graduate! Well, maybe a bit sooner than that!

Sarah

p.s. good luck to all of you....I will try to keep checking in.

Great on the water. :yay:

I can see why your tv time is very important with all those kids! I've got an idea. I noticed there are a lot of caffeine drink products. I know you want to avoid artificial sweeteners, but have you looked to see if any of these drinks do not have sugar or sweeteners? It might be worth a look in both the normal store and a health food store.

I hope someone here has ideas to help you with the smoking.

Love the elephant story.

It was fun seeing you in person again, this time much more relaxed than at the end of our disappointing VIP tour! I missed hearing what exactly is wrong with your foot?

Congrats on the new commitment!

I woke up a pound down, so I'm a happy camper.

Laurie - You are amazing! I had one child and thought I had a lot to do. You deserve your nightly TV sessions! I don't have any suggestions on in muscle smoking but I know there are things out there to help.

Donna - You are a workout machine! I am in awe of your dedication to the gym! I am having a hard time doing anything other than running but I know I need to work on building muscle. I'll get motivated someday...I really will!

Sarah - Hi! I am doing WW online

Jen - Glad you made it back safely! It was great seeing you and it was really nice meeting your husband and the boys! They are adorable. I felt like a stalker we were about 20 people behind you and the boys on IASW too! :goodvibes but didn't want to make a scene yelling at you or jumping up and down! :rotfl: Welcome to WW online!

As for me I had not run for 4 days! That is the longest that I have not run since I started and I was a little afraid that I would have lost some of my momenteum but I ran last night but only for 2 miles (2.13 miles to be exact :rotfl:) and it was fine. It felt really good to get back out there! I will be in Denver this weekend and plan to run but I am wondering how it will be with the altitude! I grew up there but I've been here for 7 months so I am sure it will make a difference!

On the weight note...I did really good or so I thought at DL this weekend. We didn't eat any of my favorite foods. I entered what I had eaten into the WW point tracker and I stayed within my points and used only a couple of my weekly points but I weighed this morning and I didn't lose even one oz. Ugh!!! This is so slow and I've been being really good!! I think I'll drink more water because I can't really cut down on the amount of food because if each point is roughly 50 cals then I am eating around 1150 cals now. Oh well...onward and downward hopefully!

Everyone have a great day!

Hey DizneeLuver, I have question about being a foster parent.
I think I saw this in a movie but when you foster a child does the government give you a monthly check to cover their expenses or is it all out of your pocket?

Ever since I was a kid I always considered adopting or fostering a kid when I grew up. :lovestruc Now, I wouldn't even dream of doing it now that I'm in college but I was considering it after I graduate. I simply don't want to wait until I find THE ONE to have kids and AI just weirds me out.

Thanks for answering my Q! :goodvibes

You get paid a "reimbursement"....that's what they call it. It's a set amount you get on the first of the month for the previous month. The base rate (which a number of the kids get) here in Oregon is $399/month. This doesn't really cover costs (especially when you need diapers, baby food, etc). The twins I have are special needs & so a nurse comes out and assesses the extra hours we do on top of the normal needs. So at one point I was getting about $1700 total a month for the 2 of them.

When you adopt, you can ask for adoption assistance which will pay all the legal fees, give the kids the state run health insurance until they're 18 & also a monthly amount. They don't usually pay the same as they did in foster care....our amount dropped by $500/month when we adopted them. But we will continue to get this & the insurance until they're 18.

You can adopt foster kids, but you have to apply & go thru a training & then you can start looking at available kids. The process here in Oregon is, when you find a child you're interested in, you contact their caseworker & then start having meetings with the child. They will take 3 families into an adoption committee who will then chose what family would be best for that child. So it could be very emotional & frustrating for you. You could be one of the 3 families considered for different kids for years before you're picked. Ours came easier because we took these kids in as foster kids & it worked out (after a lot of pain & emotions) for us because the 4 kids we adopted did not have family members that could raise them or wanted them. Most kids go home to their families/parents but a large percentage of them come back into the system.

I'm not trying to scare you away from looking into this...but wanted you to understand how the system works. Its not like private adoptions where you go in & chose the kid & they become yours. It is very, VERY rewarding when you find that perfect fit for your family!!

Thank you for all the valuable information. You didn't scare me away  I think that if I were 100% sure I would like to adopt then I would go the more direct route to avoid heartbreak. Once I did find the kid that I really bonded with  and the adoption went through, I would probably look into fostering other children. That way if I wanted to adopt another I would already be in the "system", KWIM?

I absolutely love babies so of course I would like to adopt a newborn but I'm pretty sure I could handle adopting a child who is a little older. If I could have my way, I would find a pro-life agency that helps pregnant teens to find loving & safe homes for their babies.

Just wanted to report in that I have made it almost a whole day without sugar and with only good carbs. I did have a sugar free pudding after dinner, but I made it without any skinny cows or any other treats. Longest I've gone without sugar in at least a year. Let's see how this goes... Sugar is my drug of choice.

Also did my weights, but I was really weak. There must have been some styrofoam pellots at Disneyland that sucked all of my energy out of me (listened to Bolt on way down and back, if you're wondering what the reference is...). My foot is feeling better and hopefully I can run tomorrow. Didn't do anything to it, per se. It just swelled up and got sore from all that Disneyland walking.

Hope everyone is doing well.
Many of our ladies have disappeared (as well as a banner)... Beth? Amy? January? Sarah? Callie? Bueller?
