I checked pages 30-50 and this is all I could find:

"My 7 yo did Wild By Nature and she liked it a lot. It is very slow paced, and I can't imagine a 12 yo would like it, it would probably be too slow. Mine liked it because we went to The World with 5 other people and this was true Mommy Daughter time for her! Have a great time!"

Here's what I read from Post 220, page 15 (I read a ton of this thread trying to find info)-

DS attended class today at the AK. It was quite cold, so the animal activity was poor, at best. I think there were 10 kids, ranging in age from maybe 7 (?) to 13. DS enoyed himself and I think the 2 CM's did a good job of making it fun despite the lack of animals.

One thing to keep is mind is there is an age range, since families just sign up for a date and program, unlike a school group, where things are more tailored to a specific age or grade.

HI Julia! It was so nice to meet you at the class! And thanks for sharing about the wedding you attended. I was telling my sister about it and we were both in fantasyland heaven wishing it had been ours. Hope you didn't freeze too much in FL. We ended up getting some warmer weather at the end of the week but I think you were gone by then.

Hi I recognized your kids from your signature. My girls (DD8 and neice 9) did the class too. They thought it was ok. Not really anything too exciting. It was freezing for sure.

Really for others going it is just walking around the park with an animal guide who points out different things and habits of the animals that you are looking at. I was kind of disappointed that we only went on one ride as part of the class. And it was just the regular safari ride. Our guides didn't talk or do anything special but ride with us. But the class took up almost 3 hours and we weren't able to get fastpasses for Everest. Which I guess didn't matter because it was down when we got over there after anyway. But it would be nice if they would give you fastpasses for after. Also the hankerchief, they called it a buff, was a nice idea but I think it could've been something a little better. Not sure what the kids will ever do with it.

My husband and I wouldn't rush back to do it again. The tickets were an amazing savings. Maybe some of the other classes would be a bit more exciting. Still worth it for everyone going. Have fun!

Well that's exactly what my kids are interested in, learning about animals and their habitats. I think we will be fine. I'll come back with my report after we go in October. I also think it will be warmer than when the PP posted, which should help for animal activity.

Less animal activity will happen when the weather is cold. I wouldn't worry about it. I actually wish we could do that class instead of Ocean Discoveries.

Same here. We are going in August and I'll let you know what we think.

We did Synergy in Science on Tuesday. It was nice, not really exciting. The "teacher" was really in to Disney and told us a lot of fun facts about Epcot. We learned how they created the old 3 D movies and watched Captain EO. We also rode Figment together. We were supposed to ride Spaceship Earth but it was down.

Anyway, I wouldn't give it rave reviews but it was ok, my kids lost interest a few times and there's a lot of walking involved. Bring drinks/snacks for the kids so they can drink/eat while walking from attraction to attraction.

so what does that mean? Do I need to find another class closer to the day we arrive?

No; you just need to be sure to have 1 valid day left on your park tickets for the day of that class which in your case also happen to be the last day of your trip - I saw in your earlier post that the class you signed up for takes place on the last day of your trip, so let's say you buy 7 day tickets : you can use up to 6 days before your class day but you must have 1 day left on the ticket of the attending kid(s) and the accompanying adult because they will need to swipe their tickets at the turnstile to enter park for class.

hope this helped some :goodvibes

We also did the Synergy in Science last Tuesday! :thumbsup2 It sounds like we weren't in the same group (appeared there were several that morning) since we ended up riding Spaceship Earth at the very end.

Luckily, our host William enjoyed the air conditioning and brought us back inside somewhere at every opportunity. This was not true for the other groups as we always saw them sitting outside and it was 95 degrees so just be forewarned as others have mentioned. Also, he mentioned he didn't want anyone stopping for breaks since the class time was so tight and he did the bathroom break at the very beginning and didn't offer it again. I'm sure if someone would have spoken up he would have stopped but we went non-stop.

I can see why others think it's somewhat boring. We enjoyed it and luckily our DS (7 1/2) did as well. The other children seemed to enjoy it and everyone did a great job participating. We learned some neat facts and since Spaceship Earth was down at the beginning of the tour we came back towards the end and I've never seen the line that long! He agreed and luckily a CM saw us and brought us through the backdoor and we hopped right on - that was cool!

Any questions, please let me know :)

hi, we did American experience this morning. It was fun except the part that we met at 7:15 am(i was soo sleepy lol). They quizzed kids on presidents, took us on stage at hall of presidents, rode splashmtn, and thunder railroad than the kids rang the liberty bell and lastly we watched the hall of president show and everyone got a copy of declaration of indepedence. Our group was full and no "no shows" yay so it was nice to see everyone attending. Also a bunch of us parents asked how the program is going and the YES program coordinator said that they have been doing this for 20 years now actually and that that when they started the individual enrollment it became so popular and is going so strong that the plan to expand even more classes and dates.:hippie:

thank you for that information! so happy to hear it. :cool1:

Oh No! I signed my kids up for a class in late July and now I think my dog tore his ACL and will need surgery. I hear it is a long recovery time and I don't feel comfortable asking friends/family to watch a dog that will need so much TLC, (well, I don't even know if they would). I should have listened to my gut, I knew these YES tickets were too good to be true and I shouldn't have chanced the non-refundable part. I am just not that lucky. Sigh, just had to vent a little. Probably will have to cancel and lose a good chunk of change, but my pup is worth it.

that class sounds so fun and interesting! thanks for posting.

McKelly,

It's your call, but there are some vets who also board dogs - I would think for the amount you might lose by forfeiting your tickets you could have him boarded? That's what I would do, but it's your choice of course. :hippie:

Hello all!
Just wanted to share - we did the World of Physics -Energy and Waves with my DS11 last week. I thought it was great! We got to go backstage at the Haunted Mansion, we did Philharmagic and Stitch. I do think my son got something out of it and it was great to do something extra and different - not to mention the great deal you get on the tickets! So we were very pleased. I recommend this program to anyone who might be interested!! :goodvibes

I was going to suggest the same thing! Or have you maybe thought of the pet care center that is directly across from Port Orleans Riverside. Not sure where you are staying but you could visit every day if you wanted to. Might be expensive but maybe worth it to not lose the cost of your tickets.

Here is the link to the website for Best Friends and I know there is a dedicated thread on the resorts board with reviews from people who have used it if you want to do a search:)

Has anyone attended the Animation Magic class? My boys are enrolled for July 28, just wondering what to expect.
