Disney Y.E.S. Program

What a cool thread this is! We're probably going in late January, maybe, hopefully. Does anyone know what days the Wild By Nature class is offered then? Is there a link to previous year's schedules by chance?

.....Also most seem to report that classes last about 3 hours. So if they tell you to meet at 8:45a, what would be a safe tme to make a lunch reservation at Epcot? 1p?...

I'm sure a 1:00 lunch reservation will be fine. I find that it's always better to show up a little early for ADR's than to show up late. If you're early, they will often try to work you in, if it's not too busy. Worst case scenario for showing up early, you shop for a while, till they call you.

Thanks for the replies. Well, before I got any answers, my sister purchased the tickets, so I guess she and my son will be going to the Sept 21 "Everyday Chemistry" class. My son is the right age. He's 10 and will be about a month away from turning 11 and the class is for ages 10 to 14. He is small for his age though and looks like he is about 8. He will be in 5th grade so shouldn't have a problem. Just didn't want him to feel awkward about thinking others may think he is too young for the class. I wouldn't ask him to lie about his age. I had mixed feelings about the Y.E.S. program bc both my sister and son have park tickets they could use instead but they can save those tickets for another trip. But after talking it over with my husband, we decided that it seemed like a good educational experience for our son and makes us feel better about him missing a couple of days of school to go to Disney World! Hopefully they can plan a Thursday night visit to Downtown Disney Guest Relations to pick up their tickets to make sure they have them in hand. That should work as long as their airline flights aren't late. They were thinking of going over there for a late dinner and shopping anyhow. At this point I can't find a desirable ADR for Friday lunch after the class so maybe they will end up doing counter service if I can't find them a good 12:30 or later lunch ressie. So if they do Mission Space and my sister is prone to motion sickness she can just sit that one out, right? Thanks again!

I wouldn't worry about his size if he is the right age. As far as riding Mission Space, his aunt can sit it out if she likes. I believe they do the green version, though and it doesn't spin at all. They can always have lunch in one of the World Showcase CS restaurants. You can get some good food there.

For the insane planner in me, can anyone tell me what the 8day are this year? I know they will likely be a little more next year. Both the Hopper and Premium? Thank you!

The hoppers were $203.56. (These are what we purchased.) I believe the premiums were about $25 more.

We got the 8 day Premium Tickets (hopper and water parks) and it was about $220. I did not realize that in addition to 8 days of parks and hopping , you got 8 days at the water parks also. We were at WDW for 10 days.We used the park hoppers for 8 days and used the water parks for only 1/2 of a day...we had gone to Hollywwod Studios in the morning and spent the afternoon till closing at Blizzard Beach. Park hopping in the heat is very tiring.:sad2:
Any questions...just ask ...we just got back 4 days ago !:thumbsup2

We only did a water park one afternoon, but did DQ twice.

As far as hopping, what we did was go to one park in the morning and then went to a different park after we took a break. Then the last day, we hit our favorites at all 4 parks:goodvibes

Sounds like FUN :cool1:... "hitting your favorite attractions in all 4 parks in just 1 day"....but, I'm getting old and in this heat and humidity ,I couldn't keep up that pace....even for 1 day!

We also bought the 8 day hoppes with 8 water park days. :thumbsup2 We'll actually have 9 park days avaiable as we we'll have our tickets to MNSSHP and that ticket includes MK admission. Looking forward to doing both TL and BB. We've done both but have only done one water park per trip. So excited because this will be our daughters' friend's first trip and we've got quite the trip planned. :woohoo:

Only on page 16 of this forum thread trying to find answers to my questions but need input soon since we are looking to purchase tickets today. I was looking at the Y.E.S. site last week for a friend and was surprised that there is a class open for Sept 21. My sisters are taking my 10 year old son on a last minute trip next month and we just purchased plane tickets. One of my sisters has an annual pass but we plan to purchase tickets for my son and other sister. I am getting my sister to purchase the two tickets since it looks like an adult has to show ID and the original credit card used for the purchase. I read that my sister will be able to accompany my son to the class since they are the ones taking him on the trip. Looks like someone posted that both parents were able to accompany a single child into the class so we are hoping both my sisters will be able to go to the class by asking at the time of the class, but of not, the other sister is fine touring Epcot on her own. We are looking to register my 10 year old son for the "Everyday Chemistry" class. He will be turning 11 the next month but is small for his age so hopefully no one will question his age. Is the time for the class on the far right of the order form. I am assuming 8:45am? They are staying at Animal Kingdom Villas Kidani so hopefully can take bus transportation from there since Epcot opens at 9am. But my sister mentioned reading that they instruct you to pick up the tickets at least the day before the class. Will they be able to get them from their resort? Or guest relations at Downtown Disney? They arrive the night before around 8p and will take Magical Express to their resort so it might not be 10p or so until they are able to catch a bus to Downtown Disney. Will Guest Relations there still be open? Or will Guest Relations at Epcot be open early enough the morning of the class? Also most seem to report that classes last about 3 hours. So if they tell you to meet at 8:45a, what would be a safe tme to make a lunch reservation at Epcot? 1p? Does anyone have a review of the Everyday Chemistry class? My sisters were both science majors in college so thought the class sounded fun and exciting. My son doesn't seem to share their enthusiasm.

Hi,

My daughter just took this class a few weeks ago. I did a review. I will try to quote it here (haven't done that before) so hope it works! If not, on page 113.

Let me know if you have anymore questions!
Hello all,

We returned from our trip a few days ago and participated in the Y.E.S. Program. Our class was "Everyday Chemistry" located at Epcot. My daughter is 13 and LOVED the class! I attended with her.

First of all, we checked in and met our instructor, Dana, who was absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately, we waited a bit for the "no shows" to our class. There were quite a few which is so sad. Our class was to meet at 8:45 and we got started right off the bat. We started off with introductions and Dana explained a bit about what we would be doing. We did a few experiments right then and there and then we entered the park as a group.

I won't go into everything we did but it was informative and fun. I enjoyed myself as did my daughter. Now, keep in mind, my daughter is very, very shy. I was so happy that she really participated and I think Dana appreciated that.

During the course of the class, we rode Ellen's Energy and Mission Space. The option to ride Mission Space was there for us. Those of us (myself included as well as Dana) that chose not to ride still went through the que and opted out as the others boarded. My daughter was thrilled because we usually go just the 2 of us and I do not ride Mission Space! Oh, it was the green, less intense side.

The class ended right at 12:00 after one last experiment. We had a wonderful experience and would not hesitate to do another class in the future. Honestly, my daughter wished we had signed up for another while we were there. She had that much fun.

If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them.

WOW :yay:....torinsmom, you did pack alot into your last day....sounds like you had a fun-filled day !!! :yay:

I need to borrow a kid for my next trip :lmao:. DD17 (will be 18 next week) just did the YES Animation program at Hollywood Studios. She is very shy and mentally challenged and would not go unless I tagged along. There were 3 parents who went in our group. She was shy and hung back several times but with the guide and I both pushing her she did great and actually thanked me for signing her up.
Unfortunately she will be too old next trip. I would love to do a different program but need a youngster to go with me. They did a great job and all the kids seemed to have fun after they got to know each other. So glad I found out about this program even if it was a little late for my family.:grouphug:

Thanks! I finally got through all the pages on this thread and saw your "Everyday Chemistry" review a few pages back. Getting excited for my son and whichever of my sisters gets the opportunity to take him to the class!

10:20 Did Hall of Presidents

Can I just say, I think it is soooo cool that you did HoP on your last "favorites" day!!! I would do that, too (along with Carousel of Progress and The Peoplemover). Some of the best attractions get downplayed way too much!

I wondered if anyone knows much about the class I signed my grandson up for in Oct. (19th)- "Production Arts and Science" at HS. Not even sure if there have been any of these classes yet.

Sorry if this ? has been asked a lot as I didn't have the chance to look through the whole thread; but does anyone know if Y.E.S. classes (individual enrollment) are usually offered in May? I've heard a lot about classes in the summer and fall months but not spring (including May). Thank you. :)

No, there is no individual enrollment in May. Usually, classes start mid-June.
