We live in AZ, so Disneyland is only about a 5-6 hour drive. We fly back east (TN & VA) twice a year to visit family, so the plane cost of an additional trip to WDW has never been in the budget. (This plane trip is costing our family of 4 over $1600 as it is - just airfare) We've been to the Land 4 times. Everyone has told me that Disneyland and The Magic Kingdom are basically the same. There is California Adventure with Disneyland which I was told is similar to Hollywood Studios. And of course Disneyland has Downtown Disney as well, but on a smaller scale. But no Epcot, no Animal Kingdom, no waterparks, no golf courses and only a few resorts. We are looking forward to this visit and expect to do a lot of walking and riding of the bus and boat. I did some reading somewhere and Disneyworld property is larger than Rhode Island, the City of Miami and some other stats I can't recall.

We're driving down on May 20th and staying at POFQ until the 25th. We are hitting the parks a couple of days and will probably do the Pirate and Princess Party that week.pirate: princess:

Finally got my reservations. We're actually staying after the cruise from 5/29 to 6/3 at POFQ. I wanted to try the WL but out of my budget for this year. Now I have to find away to drive all the way from Oklahoma without DD4 going insane! :)

Read today that NASA has delayed the shuttle launch :sad2: It has been moved to May 31.We will still be at the parks then, maybe we can still see it

Wow - we are trying to figure out how to drive from atlanta without DD (4) going insane...How many hours does it take from Oklahoma?

I remember seeing photos of the shuttle in the air behind Mision Space from Epcot this past year. We will also be at the parks and may still be able to see it.

We are flying in on the 22nd and staying at POFQ before the cruise. I'm bummed to hear the news about the shuttle launch being postponed. I was looking forward to that. But can't wait for everything else !:cool1:

One year we were coming out of La Nouba and I remember being able to see one of the launches. SO you should be able to see it.

Oh it's going to be about a 20 hour drive. Our goal on the way down is to leave here at 2:30am and drive like bats out of heck until she wakes up around 7 or 7:30am, then drive like normal, stopping every two or three hours for thirty minutes at McDonalds or rest stops and forcing her to do wind sprints :D. We probably will spend the night on the 23rd at Gainesville or Valdosta depending on how far and how fast we can drive. Then we'll wake up early the next day and probably spend Saturday at SeaWorld.

Jen,

I feel your pain!! We will be driving from Maryland with our DS's, ages 5 and 3. Mapquest estimates a 15.5 hour drive, however they didn't factor in all the bathroom stops, food stops and the get out of the car and run around stops with young ones!:lmao: I have a feeling, I'll be like this:worship: once we arrive in Florida! We will be leaving on Friday, right after our DS's finish up their last day of preschool. Our plan is to have the van packed and ready to go, pick the kids up from preschool and we will be on our way!!:cool1:

My daughter (age 25) and I will be on the May 25 cruise to the Bahamas. We are flying down from Michigan on Saturday, the 24th, and staying overnight at the Hyatt located at the airport. We're renting a car just for the day Saturday and going to Hollywood Studios (previously known as MGM). We can't wait!!

Hi mom! *waves* (I'm the daughter)

Only a little more than 5 weeks left to go! Hard to believe.

And we have our Vera Bradley excursion in 2 weeks to look forward to :)

pixiedust: Just posting to say hi to everyone and welcome all the new cruisers to the group.:grouphug:

I am getting so excited for the trip, I'm ready to pack now. Our cruise is still a surprise from the kids, but they know about our trip to Florida.

We are going to be in Universal Studios the day of the launch, but are trying to decide if we should drive to KSC to get a closer look. What do you all think? Will we see it pretty good from U.S.?

To those driving, my thoughts are with you. Our kids barely make it the 4.5 hour drive to the airport. We are flying out the day after my ds12 gets out of school.

We have booked the stingray excursion at CC for our family and haven't decided yet on Nassau.

A get-together would be great. To those that have cruised before, where would be a good place to meet?

Just catchin' up on all the posts.:goodvibes

My cruise docs came today! Woo-hoo! I wasn't expecting them for another 2 or 3 weeks. I just walked out on the front porch about 15 minutes ago and there was a little package from UPS.:cool1: Just a little over 5 weeks to go!

Lucky you :goodvibes - but now I'm wondering where are mine?????? :confused3

Did you go through a TA or did you book directly with Disney?

Our TA said that she would get the docs and then forward them to us. Now I am really excited for that package to arrive.
