Disney Wonder May 25th, 2008 Double-Dippers check in here

It looks like Space Shuttle Discovery is targeted for launch on May 25, 2008 at 7:26pm EST from Kennedy Space Center.

You can check it out at http://www.nasa.gov/missions/highlights/schedule.html

I am hoping we can view her from the ship. That would be cool.

That would be really cool!!

My daughter and I went to Target today to get some stuff for our Easter weekend fishing trip. While I was there I picked up an over-the-door shoe organizer, some travel size laundry detergent, spray on sunscreen and wrinkle releaser to use on the cruise - a sure sign that the cruise is getting closer!!!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

I am getting soooo excited too!!! :dance3:  We had snow in MO this weekend and I am sick of it. Ready for the warm weather and beach!!!!! Seeing the shuttle launch would really be cool. I know my ds11 would really think it was exciting. Does anyone know what time the ship actually leaves dock? If only it were a nighttime launch -- that would be even cooler.

Ship leaves the dock between 5:00 and 5:30. Launch is not until 7:30.We may still be able to see it,hope so. Because of the launch hotels in in area will be hard to come by,so book ahead. We have some friends that live in Cocoa Beach so we will be staying with them:cool1:

Hi all. Haven't been on in ages. Been busy spring cleaning.

Anyone having trouble on what excursions to book? I've been talking to my family about it for weeks and no one can agree on what to do. We each took our vacation guide, marked our first 3 choices and we all marked different things! I think I am going to just make the decision for everyone and just book them without telling them. Time is ticking. My hubby and I are still hoping for an opening at Palo for dinner AFTER we get on the boat. We want to go on the night of our second dinner in one of the three restaurants so we don't miss any of the restaurants. But we decided if we don't get it, we aren't worried about it.

That will be really cool! How far out to sea will we be at that time, though?:confused3 I hope we will still be able to see it.

Hi all! *waves*

My mother (53) and I (25) will be on this cruise. We were originally going on the Mexican Riviera cruise on the same date, but decided we would miss Castaway Cay too much...and home. We get home sick right about 4-nights. So, we switched to this one and were so excited to find out that we get a Castaway Cay Double Dip! :yay:

I have been on 3 other Disney cruises, mom has been on 2 others. I got her started! :rotfl: Went with a friend on a 3-nighter when I was 18 and we had a blast. Talked mom into a 7-night Eastern and again, had a great time. Later mom and I went on a 4-night and took my bro and hubby along with us. The boys don't care for cruising, but mom and I are hooked, hence this upcoming cruise!

Signed up 75 days out for Palo and only first and last night were available  We took first night. Bummed that we will miss whatever restaurant is on the first night (praying for Parrot Cay as that is our least favorite)...but, we've never eaten at Palo...so we are just excited that we got a ressie.

Also going to Palo brunch on the 2nd Castaway Cay morning. Neither one of us has done that either, so we're excited to eat, eat, eat.

I talked mom into doing tandem parasailing with me on Castaway Cay. Haven't done that before either...so it's a cruise of firsts!

Oh yes, a bit about us. Mom's "retired" from GM, but still works part-time as a church secretary/designer. I work full-time as a graphic designer for an advertising agency. I'm married and have two cocker spaniel doggies!

Can't wait until May!!! :cool1:

With the ship speed at 20 - 25 mph for land lovers and if we leave approx. 5pm. I'm gussing we will be about 60 miles out or so. With your surroundings flat and if we have a clear evening. We should have at least some kind of a view I hope. The sun will also be setting, so I'm not sure how that will play into it as well.

We will also be staying at the Hyatt the night before the cruise. We stayed there the night before our last cruise and it worked out well for us.

I can’t wait until February 25th so we can book our excursions!!

pirate:

We're also staying at the Hyatt the night before. We did this in the past and it worked out great. The rooms are so nice...and I always get a kick out of the telephone in the bathroom!

We're also getting a day room for the day we get back. We get off the boat around 10 or 11...and our flight isn't until later than evening (7 or 8, I think). So, mom called about getting a day room and it's $90. That way we don't have to sit in the airport for 8+ hours with nothing to do. This way we can relax/nap in the room, watch TV or go swimming :)

My DD and I are on the May 25 Cruise. This is her 4th Disney cruise, and my 3rd. We are wondering since there is a shuttle launch scheduled for May 25, at 7:26 pm, if that will have any impact on us being able to get from the airport to the DCL terminal in a timely manner. We will be transported on DCL bus. I would think the worst traffic would be AFTER the launch rather than prior to the launch. One year we were in Orlando and drove over to a shuttle launch in the afternoon....it only took us about an hour to drive over, but took 3 hours to drive back....it was bumper-to-bumper, stop-and-go, all the way back to Orlando.
Was also wondering if we would be able to see the launch from the ship, since the ship departs 2.5 hours prior to the shuttle. I guess we'll wait and see. Our cruise departure date is only two months from this coming Monday (March 24). We are so excited!!

We just moved our cruise to this sail date! It will be our first cruise and we are so excited!
