Disney Wonder - Galveston to San Jaun - January 20, 2017

There are a few places we have been looking at excursions from. We have been focusing on Old San Juan and foodie tours, but there are all different types from beach breaks to rain forest explorations. Check out the Ship Mate app. If you add in our cruise, it will pull up our itinerary and there's a tab to check out excursions. We have also been looking at Tours by Locals (click here to see the San Juan tours ) and PR4Less Tour (click here for their site ).

Howdy everyone!
:wave::welcome::wave:
And Welcome to the group
for the
Disney Wonder - Galveston to San Juan sailing - January 20, 2017

I am excited to be taking another Disney cruise, and look forward to meeting new friends during our planning journey. If you are on this sailing, please leave a note and join in on the conversation, and think about joining in on some of the group fun being planned.

I am reserving the next few posts for the group roll call, the FE list, and planned group activities (like meets, cabin crawls, and mixology ). As the group grows, I will keep these posts up to date with the most current information.

~ Tink ~
Hey there! How can we be added to the FE group? It's been a couple years since we have been on a cruise and I forget how this works.

~BUMP~

We are still looking for 1 more participants (which will bring the count to 20) to guarantee a reservation in advance for mixology . We can have up to 40 people in the group. So if we reach 20 and you are still interested, there will still be room for more.
I am going to try to post this at the top of each page (going forward ) so new members won't have to search to find out what we are planning.

~Planned activities ~
(Meets, cabin crawls, mixology, etc )

First ~ Welcome to the group Slonesfam!
:welcome::welcome::welcome:

Second ~ You just did what was needed to join the FE.
I have a messages to send you with all of the information needed for the FE spreadsheet. However, the DIS board requires that you make 10 posts before you can send and receive personal messages. For now, I will add you to the roll call and the FE list, and you can make 9 more short posts. They don't have to be anything big or special. Just say hi, introduce your family, or count down to 10. You can start with ~ What was your last cruise?

2 quick notes this morning:

For anyone who has booked with Airbnb, Ebay is currently running a gift card special: (I made it so you can click through to see)
Get a $200 Airbnb Gift Card Gift Card for only $170

Also, for those that are debating over whether or not to bring a car seat, I saw something on Border Security: Australia's Front Line (season 2 episode 1 [I believe, maybe episode 2] on Netflix). They showed a fold-able car seat. It looked like it would fit right in a suitcase. Beings that it was in the mail portion of the show, not the passenger section, I did not know if it was a real thing or not, so I searched foldable car seats on google, and found them for sale for around $15.

This one said for ages 2 - 4.

There was also one that looked like this
s-l1600.jpg

It said it works as a car seat and a booster seat for regular chairs (dining and such). It was around $50 and said it was for ages 7 months to 5 years.

I did not do anymore looking into them than the price and ages. I just thought it may be something those of you needing car seats for shuttles, excursions, taxi's and so on may be interested in looking into.

Is anyone planning on staying an extra day in San Juan?
We are hoping to. We are wanting to stay in Old San Juan.
This is a new port for us. Does anyone have any recommendations?

~Tink~
We are staying in San Juan an extra night :) Staying at Isla Verde.....I have no idea what we will do while we are there, but we will be there.

Yeah, Isla Verde should be close if not right on it if I remember correctly. We will most likely be on the beach or at the pool. We are lazy like that.

Information for parents of toddlers and those wanting to plan a toddler play date.

Internet Cafe/Internet Services

The only thing to say here is, “What Internet Cafe?” The enclosed area next to the Promenade Lounge on deck 3 no longer houses computer terminals. Instead, the perimeter of the space is now lined with comfortable, high-backed bench seating, surrounding an area of open carpeting for toddler-watching. The only entry into this comfy corral is controlled by a sliding, wooden gate, to ensure that the little ones don’t toddle out onto the dance floor. If you must surf the web, either plan to bring your own laptop or mobile device, or borrow one from the Internet Services or Guest Services desks. The Internet Services representative is still stationed in his/her familiar spot in the Promenade Lounge, for those who need assistance connecting or choosing a data plan. I can also report that internet connection speeds are far better than they used to be, making it all too easy to burn through your data plan.

Where has the Internet Cafe gone? It’s now dedicated to Toddler Time!

Toddler Time
Watch the ship’s activity schedule for “Toddler Time,” now a feature on both the Magic and Wonder in the space adjacent to the Promenade Lounge formerly occupied by the Internet Cafe. During Toddler Time counselors from “it’s a small world” set up soft play structures for the kids to explore. Though counselors are on hand to supervise and play with the children, parents must be present, too, whether they play or just watch

Disney Wonder is in port today and she is the only one there so you can get a good view. Here is the web site for the web cam: http://www.galvestoncruises.com/webcams/cruisevideocam

Yeah, Isla Verde should be close if not right on it if I remember correctly. We will most likely be on the beach or at the pool. We are lazy like that.
I started to type my response to this...."By the time we get to San Juan, we will be pretty beached out....." and then as I started the next sentence...."That is why we are going to indulge our foodie side...." Light bulb on, it hit me, we will have just been on a 6 day cruise, I think we might be foodied out too!
Dumb question of the day....what do you do at "Mixology"? We have not participated in this before.
Not a dumb question. At mixology one of the bartenders on board teaches the group how to make between 6 to 8 drinks. You have the opportunity to volunteer to make one of the drinks, and the opportunity to drink what you made. Everyone will get one of each of the drinks made (if they want it of course, if not they are welcome to share, and I promise you, there will be volunteers to take the drinks that are given up). The non-volunteers also get the opportunity to laugh at the volunteers. So, in short, you learn to make several drinks, you get to drink several drinks, and you get to have a fun afternoon with your ship board friends.
You have 'short and sweet' down to a science! :rotfl2:
But I have to say, you did reach 10+. I will get the message out in just a bit.

~Tink~

Happy Monday all. And what an awesome Monday. A barbecued chicken weekend made way for a home made chicken soup Monday. Plus, the weather is perfect soup weather! :cold:
We only have 6 more Mondays after today before we set sail. :woohoo::boat:

This week, I want to remind everyone to bring their Dancing Feet. :dancer: Leave all your inhibitions at home, and don't worry about what others may think. You are on the cruise to have fun, so live it up.

We are going to have several opportunities to show off our dancing skills. :dance3:
The smooth moves will start with the sail away party up on the pool deck. This is a must do event. It gets you in the mood to have fun Disney Style.
During the cruise adults will have nightly opportunities to get their grove on in the different night clubs. :dogdance:
Which can be intermixed with some comedy, game shows, and snacking.
The kiddos will get daily opportunities to improve their moves in the kids areas.:smooth::banana:

On Pirate Night, we will be having another deck party, which means, you guessed it, more dancing. pirate::hyper:

Now, if you are one to stay on the sidelines and just watch :ssst: keep in mind my Forget Me Not about your appetite. If you are enjoying the Disney food as much as I know I will be, all of this dancing will give you the opportunity to burn off some of those calories (yes I know I said vacation calories don't count, but who wants to take the chance). Plus you are burning the calories with out stressing about exercise, because you are having FUN!!!!

So, practice up, and be ready to Bust a Move. :dogdance::dance3:party::woohoo::dancer::banana:

Have a great week,

~Tink~

I think you can count us in on this. Sounds like fun!

Attention all FEers:
I am adding a group list with cabins (including group 3 A and 3 B for those who offered to pitch in to help late comers). This is the list I am going off of to build the FE Cabin map. Please take a minute to make sure I have your cabin right. Also, if you are in group 1 and offered to help with group 3, make sure your name and cabin are also in group 3 A. And, if you are in group 2 and offered to help with group 3, make sure your name and cabin are also in group 3 B.
Finally, please let me know that you have checked them for me. I have the maps made currently to match the information I am using. If you are going to want a map, please let me know that as well.
Thanks for your help.

Side note: I will be working on a map for the Cabin Crawl also. If you are interested, and have not let me know yet, please send me a quick message so I can add you to the group message.
