Disney Withdrawal Survival Guide: An Oct 2013 PTR - Soundtrack Included- NEW 08/27

After a bit of a break from the Dis (stupid work,) I am back and all caught up!

I was meaning to ask you earlier if you used lactose free "milk" to make your soup? How did it work out? I prefer soy milk but frankly have always been afraid to use it in soups because I'm afraid it won't have the same properties as milk and I will just have a runny watery mess at the end. :confused3

I love your writing style and witty sense of humor. Yours is one of my favorite PTRs to read!

What have you been up to since graduation/getting married? still in Halifax?

I think Jess found the bread pudding recipe on All Ears Recipe page. They have lots of great recipes from Disney Restaurants.

APs are a new development. We where going to wait but with the price increase it made sense to get it early. It's still just a voucher so the year doesn't start until we bring it to the ticket counter in WDW. I did celebrate when it came in the mail :dance3:

Okay, so that was a happy flight change! Usually when you hear that your flight's been changed it means it's been outright cancelled or it's been changed just enough so that you miss your connecting flight. :sad2: I'm really glad they were able to change it though, so you can get a bonus day like we did! :thumbsup2 It really makes a huge difference. Especially when you get to attend events you didn't think you were going to be able to! :woohoo: Sounds like an awesome travel day! (I so wish I was going this year)

I think your cat's name is awesome, btw.

We're still in Halifax, and I'm still at the same job, so really not much has changed since we got married/I graduated  I think I'm going to have to start looking for new work though, because pretty soon I don't think my job's going to cut it anymore, sadly :(

I found a recipe for the tie-dye cheesecake from the POP which I'm hoping to make later on this week for my Dad's birthday. Hopefully it's not a complete flop  it's from the Disney Parks Food Blog (I think) I'll have check out that All Ears page too :thumbsup2

Has it been unbearably hot where you guys are in NB, like it has here in Halifax? We're kinda going crazy with the heat :crazy2:

Hi! I just now started to read your PTR and I love how you've designed it! Can't wait to read more about your magical trip!

That's great you could change your flight and arrive a day earlier! Yay for the F&W classic at the Swan and Dolphin! Darn flight changes making you have to spend more time in Disney ;)

Darn flight changes for sure :P Made me jump for joy to have an extra Disney day! Which got me a few odd looks I must admit since I was at work when I got the call.

Glad to know that we have a celebrity on the boards here! Congrats on your pina colava photo launching you into infamy!! Great photo by the way! :thumbsup2

I loved the journey 101 days into the future, it certainly felt surreal to me! ;) How awesome that you get an extra day at WDW due to flight changes.

That was funny about your attempt to love wine. Perhaps you're just a pina colava type person! :cool1:

Glad you could come along for our time travel expedition :P It was fun to write.
Although now it would be 96!!! WOo double digits.

I'm become more and more of a wine fan. We've found a few that we like so hopefully by F&W we'll be able to enjoy more than the Food part.

That sounds like a pretty awesome travel/arrival day! Great that you got s day added on the front AND get there early too! Art of animation! Awww I love it there!
We have never done the adult lounging experience thing. We thought about Jellyrolls a few times but never made it over. I can't wait to see how you like it!

I've put way too much thought into our arrival/travel day in the last few months. It's part of my happy thoughts to get through hard days at work. Can't wait to check out AOA too. We'll most likely hit Jellyrolls at least once so I'll be sure to let you know what we think of it.

First of all, YES IT IS HOT!! OMG, I am actually happy to be on call tonight so that I can stay in the air conditionned rooms in the hospital. We hit the 40s with humidex today.

As for flight change, it is definitely rare for that to be a happy moment that's for sure. My travel agents really came through on that one.

That's too bad about having to find a new job (unless you don't like your current one). Nothing wrong with being in the same place though, I hope to stay in Moncton for years to come.

Ok so you've got to try the tie-dye cheesecake AND take pictures! I would love to see that.

Hi! I just now started to read your PTR and I love how you've designed it! Can't wait to read more about your magical trip!

Welcome :) Glad you're enjoying the survival guide so far!

:) DH and I will be enjoying our annual trip 10/31-11/9. We have two studios booked at AKV-J, one for us and one for my parents (his Mom and Bro went with us last fall). We love DVC.

I am always excited to stay at AKV but this time I snagged a lake view studio at BLT for 10/31...DH has decided he is with me on staying around the resort that evening, hopefully having dinner at Cali Grill, then MNSSHP the following night. The main thing to do this trip is the MNSSHP and MVMCP in one trip...on DH's Disney Bucket List so to speak.

Name: Lucretia
Fav attraction: TTA
One restaurant: California Grill during fireworks
If I could meet one character: Mr.Ray of course
If I could stay at any resort: I really do like AKV, WL would also be high on the list
To eat one snack: Popcorn on Main Street
Favorite Drink: Hand dipped Milkshake at 50's prime time ( non alcoholic choice) and Lava Smoothie at the pool bar (virgin of course)....ooooohhh and then there is the delightful Reisling at the Cali Grill, the Mango slushy thing in China....hmmmm, uh I guess I drink a lot
How do I know I am a Disney addict: one little hint that you are interested in Disney and I will talk about it until your eyes glaze over. I surround myself with other Disney Addicts that live close by...

Dalmatian Day, that's cute. You're in the double digits now! :dance3:

That's awesome that you were able to arrange your flight where you get an extra night.

The Swan/Dolphin food and wine classic looks fun. Hand crafted bacon sounds yummy.

I'm an old lady at heart and am usually to bed by 9 or 10, even at WDW. But I have heard Jellyrolls is a lot of fun. The DFB seems to rave about the Territory Lounge.

Welcome Lucretia pixiedust:
I've yet to stay at either of those resorts but they are both superb looking. I am a little bit jealous :P. I'm curious as to why you love Mr. Ray, I agree that he's pretty awesome though (as a ex-biologist I particularly love his songs)

I can relate to joining into Disney related conversations. I tend to interrupt myself and start eavesdropping whenever I hear someone mention anything WDW around me.

Gotta love double digits, I find time goes faster once you get there. Before we know it we'll be in WDW!! I'm super excited to be able to get to F&W classic. I was a little bummed to be missing it by one day before.

We are also planning a pit stop at Territory lounge for drunken donuts and maybe a cheese fondu... plus I heard you can get the berry cobbler from the lounge...I might be in trouble haha. I love food too much (hence why I am a year long weightwatcher member).

Tips: Go Off Topic Sometimes

When we are focusing on something we really look forward to in the future, it's important not to forget to look back at special moments too.

One year ago today, Jess and I where running around her small town trying to get everything set up, get our nails done and make sure everything would be wonderful for our wedding day.

We had gotten engaged at the end of our amazing first vacation to WDW in 2011 in the pouring rain after getting off the last Tower of Terror elevator of the night. We were both wearing bright yellow ponchos (yes very stylish). We then had 11 months to juggle school, work and planning but I think everything worked out great.

If you guys don't mind going off topic for a day, I would like to take you along with me as I reminisce about the best day of my life.

It's incredible how fast that day came and went, I'm so happy to be able to look back on it through the pictures and videos that where taken that day. Thanks for coming along with me!

This week end we'll be going camping to celebrate our one year anniversary. If we don't get food poisoning from eating one year old cake, I'll be back next year with more Disney withdrawal survival lessons.

Awwww - those are beautiful shots! Love the one of the kiss in the sunset...
:goodvibes

I love going off topic! :) The pictures are beautiful :) You two look wonderfully happy. Enjoy camping and good luck on that cake ;)

Happy anniversary!

I'm so glad you went off topic, your wedding pictures are beautiful! I love the champaign pop down at the beach. And your bouquets were really gorgeous! Have fun camping/celebrating is weekend, and try to enjoy your one year old cake (I have to admit, though we didn't get sick, we didn't much enjoy ours, it was freezer burnt! Hahaha)

I had the same reaction to the avocado margarita. It took another diser Sam33 to convince me. I don't like avocado in any other situation but it really makes for a smooth margarita.

I JUST FOUND YOUR PTR! Late to the party I guess But it's also never too late.
And nothing makes me happier than turning someone on to the avocado margarita! So glad you liked it!

Also, I'm loving how creative this PTR is. I was thinking about starting one soon but how the heck do you compete with this?!

Happy Anniversary!

You and Jess look just beautiful in your pictures. I also especially like the beach photos.

Have fun camping and good luck with that cake.

Who DOESN'T love a detour filled with wedding pictures, seriously?! They were all beautiful but this one is my favorite...LOVE the backs of both dresses!

Hope you guys enjoy camping, I hope it isn't too warm where you guys are.

Belated happy anniversary to you both!!!

Those photos were stunning! It's easy to see that you both were on :cloud9: that day. I really hope your camping trip went well, and that your 1 year old cake wasn't too bad

PS - the tie-dye cheese cake was a success! Well...sort of...the cake itself got a bit over-done, but we had left-over cheesecake and made mini cheesecakes which turned out perfectly! I'll have to get the photos up soon...been so busy lately though!

Happy Anniversary!!!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful wedding photos and I love the proposal story, ponchos and all!!!

Thanks :) We where lucky to get such a beautiful sunset to end the day.

Thanks! I don't think I've ever smiled so much in my life haha.
We survived the cake although we only had a few bites each. My mother in law had the brilliant idea of sealing it so it preserved quite well.

Happy anniversary!

Thanks :) We had a lovely anniversary. Glad you enjoy my little detour off topic. I preferred the dessert I got with my supper over the 1 year old cake. (lobster claw shaped beaver tale with raspberry & strawberry coulie and ice cream)

YOU FOUND IT :) I totally owe my love of the avocado margarita to you. I had serious doubt before. Did I see you started a PTR? I think I saw it the other day but haven't had time to read it yet...Maybe I hallucinated...I'll have to go look.

Happy Anniversary!

You and Jess look just beautiful in your pictures. I also especially like the beach photos.

Have fun camping and good luck with that cake.

Thanks! We were fortunate that Jess's family has a cottage just along the beach. The camping was great and the cake was ....ok haha. Still looked lovely though.

Hope you guys enjoy camping, I hope it isn't too warm where you guys are.

I love that our dresses ended up looking similar but different. We did not see each others dresses until she walked down the aisle. It was warm in town but we where near the coast for camping so it was perfect plus we had access to a lake.

Belated happy anniversary to you both!!!

Thanks :) It was an amazing day. I love looking through our wedding album.

Glad to know your mini cheesecakes turned out nice. Did you see they changed the tye-dye cheesecake (and the rest of the menu) at Pop? that made me mad...

Happy Anniversary!!!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful wedding photos and I love the proposal story, ponchos and all!!!

Thanks :) I think ponchos are quite charming actually haha :P It wasn't the way I planned but it was perfect.

Beautiful pics! Congratulations on your anniversary.

Thanks :)

I did indeed start one! Only 258 days away...
So make sure you start your TR the day you get back from yours to help me get through the long wait! :cool1:

Did you see they changed the tye-dye cheesecake (and the rest of the menu) at Pop? that made me mad...

 Um, NO! :scared1: I'm a little afraid to look now, but I feel like I have to :scared: In a way I don't blame them, because holy cow was that recipe time consuming! BUT, at the same time, it was part of the charm of the POP so it makes me sad :(
