Disney Withdrawal Survival Guide: An Oct 2013 PTR - Soundtrack Included- NEW 08/27

OH MY... how did I not stumble upon this sooner?!?! I will be at WDW Oct. 18-23 and am seriously obsessed with my trip!

Must admit, I'm jealous of your Beach Club reservation. (I've rented DVC points before, but waited too long this time and nothing was available... I knew the earlier the better during F&W but I wasn't able to commit early enough!)

Anyway, I'll be at Animal Kingdom Lodge, which I love... but I'd much rather be stumbling... I mean WALKING... home to Beach Club from Epcot every night instead of having to board the dreaded bus. ;)

I'm so excited to see someone else Disney obsessed as I am... AND that will have the same countdown as I do! :woohoo:

Glad it still worked out for you! My university doesn't have any kind of fall break and only one reading day at the end of the each semester before finals begin. Consider yourself lucky that you get time off at all! ;)

So happy to hear you're still going!

Almost as happy as I was to hear about the new Muppet movie! Are you excited?! :yay:

YAY!!!! I'm so glad that you are going to go! Once the shock and OH MY GOSH moment passes it doesn't look too bad! :woohoo:

Hey guys!

Thanks so much for all the advice and positive thoughts. We've talked about it and made a bit of research. We can't change our travel dates because of the non-refundable DVD rental we did but the main reason would also be that I set up my schedule around the assumption that Jess's vacation was Oct 20-25th so it is now too late to change my schedule around. That being said, we've concluded that missing a week of school wouldn't be a big deal for Jess, she says she only has 2 classes + her thesis for that semester. So she feels comfortable with keeping our travel dates. :thumbsup2 Very happy about that. I think the main shock was when we returned to the school calendar and realized "oh no! We booked the wrong dates!" But after hearing from you guys and some of our friends, we realize that people do take time off from school/work for vacations and that had this of been planned, it wouldn't of been a big deal...Just a bit of a shock that's all. :scared1:

Thanks for everything! :worship: Jess was particularly happy to hear all the encouragements, she doesn't always comment but she always reads and loves hearing from everyone. :hippie:

:dance3:WE ARE STILL GOING TO WDW!!! :dance3:

So glad to hear that! Sometimes when there's an unexpected wrench in a plan the first thing I do is panic that it's all falling apart, but then when you sit down and really talk it out, it ends up being more of a hiccup than a wrench!

Thanks for all the encouragements! We really appreciate sharing our excitement (and discouraging moments) with you guys! Now on to the next part of the Disney Survival Guide!

Starting it off with a Singalong!

Nothing like a good Disney singalong to get you in the right frame of mind. So join along as we head to the Most Magical Place on Earth!

Day 1: Day at Magic Kingdom

Pre-Rope drop: While the Castmembers are whistling while they get Main St. ready for rope drop we'll be starting the day off right with an early breakfast at The Polynesian's Kona Café. This is a favourite place of ours. I've talked endlessly.

Then we'll step in time with thousands of other guest as we get ready for rope drop.

After the official opening we'll Walk right down the middle of Main st USA.

Then we'll follow the leader (Me) to the whichever ride we decide to start off the day with. we usually use Touring Plans from the Unofficial guide team.

We usually wander over to Fantasyland to hit a few of the shorter rides that tend to build up a long line in the afternoon: Peter Pan (although it's closed in October ), Winnie the Pooh and

The Haunted Mansion are amongst our first.

After we hit a few of the dark rides, we head straight for our favourite mountains. For a double header of awesomenest.

Although sometimes we stop to meet our favourite duck (and the true celebrity of WDW).

Depending on the time we might time travel over to Tomorrowland to battle with THE EVIL EMPEROR ZURG with our favorite space ranger or lend a hand to Monstropolis as they try to collect as many laughs as possible.

I imagine by that time our tummies will have started to rumble; which is why we have a reservation in the wilderness for lunch. I found a quiet place near a canyon of some sort. Should be restful.

After lunch we'll probably take it easy. Might put our photopass to use by making memories.

Maybe stop by the 3oclock parade if we can figure out at what time it is.

Sometime throughout the day we'll be sure to visit the newest land in all of the Magic Kingdom. I haven't quite figured out when the best time to do that will be but I imagine that it will be earlier rather than later.

The park closes early that day for Mickey's Halloween Party so we will meander back to the Poly for supper at Ohana.

Once our bellies are full, we'll walk down to the beach, maybe grab a drink and finish the evening in style with Hallowishes.

Welcome to my PTR :) Very happy to meet someone who shares our countdown. AKL is high on our must try list but this being F&W we wanted to make sure we didn't have a long trek back home after a good night of drinking round the world :P. Are you planning on attending any of the special events for food and wine?

I stumbled upon your PTR and was hooked from the start! I suffer from the same Disney Withdrawal as others here!

I have read through and am all caught up!! Your trip sounds exciting. I am an October traveler also. Oct. 6-11 staying at Bay Lake Tower! :cool1:

BTW...I absolutely LOVE that your PTR has a soundtrack!!! Music is such a huge part of my life...and yet...this thought never crossed my mind! I hope you won't mind if I borrow/steal your idea sometime in the future....it's just BRILLIANT!!

You and your wife are simply stunning...especially in those wedding day pics. Congrats and Happy Anniversary to you ladies!

I can't wait to read more about your trip plans!

~Stephanie

Hey! Welcome. I quickly realized that Disney Withdrawal was a pretty common condition. I am actually debating on writing a post on why a Disney World trip would be so addicting and cause this kind of withdrawal ( and base it all on my limited knowledge of real psychology (Might need to consult my wife who is actually studying in that field).

October sounds like a great time to visit I'm sure we'll all have a blast, even if our trips don't overlap :(

Feel free to add music to any trip report :) The more music the better is my opinion.

Thanks for reading.

Looks like a great MK day along with some great restaurant picks! I cannot wait to try Kona in January!

Gotta share this story since you enjoy a nice night of drinking at Epcot...

Last year we stayed a bit too long at Rose & Crown and before we knew it, the park was empty. Oops. A cast member approached us and said "you must be staying at Beach or Boardwalk." We said "Ummm, no, actually we're at AKL..." She had to radio a bus to come get us because it was so late! We felt kinda bad, but she was very friendly and the poor bus driver was just as nice. That was when we decided next trip we MUST stay at an Epcot resort! But, that didn't work out so we'll just have to watch the time a little better this year. :)

We don't have any plans to attend any specific events at this point. But you can bet we'll be roaming around World Showcase more than any other park this trip! (We're first timers for F&W!)

Hahaha I can see that happening to us. We loved our time at Rose & Crown. Did you hear that the Hat Lady character won't be performing improv songs anymore? She will still be there playing piano, just not as "The Hat Lady".

I'm always worried about loitering in the park after it's closed but everything I've heard is that the cast members are usually pretty friendly and there are buses around. I'm just the worrying type I guess. Shouldn't really be an issue this time around at Epcot though :)

First timers here too! We're also planning on spending most of our time around World Showcase.

Sounds like the perfect first day to me!! I'm getting so hungry just hearing about your meal choices. I've been to all the restaurants except for Kona Cafe which is on my bucket list. Any excuse to hang out at the Poly for a while, right?;)
The first time I went to Whispering Canyons, it was my BFF's birthday. She was turning 40 and they made her ride a toy horse stick around the restaurant. It was priceless and I know she could not stop laughing:lmao: and neither could I!

The Poly must be my favourite hang out. Just waiting for the day that they get a DVC so that I can actually afford to rent points to stay there.

Chuckled out loud to that story. Whispering Canyon sounds like a great place for a fun time. I will be sure to order something that needs ketchup.
