So first off...
I FINISHED THE INVITES, THEY ARE IN THE MAIL.... DUNZO!
I think they turned out fantastic, and the only downside is that they did weigh more than a standard 44 cent stamp... but luckily not more than 2 stamps... they weighed enough for a 64 cent stamp- but she had some really cute wedding cake ones.. so that made it a little better.

But I am glad I stuck with the card stock inserts as just the regular weight paper made them feel cheaper!
I am getting a lot of good feedback from those who received them and so far we already have 2 email RSVPs!
As I mentioned we were going to do a bridal shower in September.. but yesterday I got an invite for one of my good friend's baby baptism which is on the exact same date as my would have been bridal shower... which wouldn't have been too bad except she is a teacher and along with her she is friends with about half of my guest list... so I definitely don't want people to choose where to attend and plus I want her at my bridal shower too.. so we are going to change the date to October 15th! It is going to be a bridal shower/birthday combo since my brithday is on the 8th! SO I am excited abut that!

We are still going to send out the invites first thing in September so we can already "book" everyone and get an idea on numbers for the party early on so we can plan for favors and food and stuff.
I am coming along well with my to-do list.
1. Returned DF's ring- now still looking for a new one
2. Ordered the sand for the sand ceremony. I would definitely recommend the website I used. They were the cheapest and I got my sand SUPER quick! Now I just have to figure out if 3 lbs is enough for our container!
3. Since Irene took a little bit of a turn my hair trial & makeup and meeting with the florist is still on for this weekend in MB. So that was a lifesaver that I didn't have to try to re-schedule those and finagle another weekend off at work!
Hair Style I would like:
My mom and me made a headpiece using feathers, a flower, and my late grandmother's old brooch, it came out beautiful and I have my something old- and as a remembrance of my Grandma.
Here are some inspirations for my bouquet:
I am debating on all white carnations, or also using some daisies in there. To break up all the white I wanted to maybe have some teal accents or feathers or something and then have the bouquet wrapped in black satin ribbon. Or black accents with teal ribbon wrap? I wanted to include a green carnation in there somewhere- because that is what Thomas asked me to be his GF with... but it might make it look funny?
The idea of I have in my head is a tight carnation bouquet in all white, and three black carnations in the middle in the shape of a mickey head with teal ribbon.. So from above you can see the mickey head.. Does that make sense?
HAHAHA please excuse my crude paint skills....
I wanted to talk to the florist and see is she can make some type of boutineer for the guys in the shape of mickey heads with like three flowers together? Or possibly trying to find some mickey pins or even antenna balls to incorporate in the boutineer. We don't really need flowers anywhere else other than one carnation for each table, a few white rose petals on the grass aisle and flowers for the mothers and grandmothers. So it should be a pretty straightforward (hopefully cheap) bill.
We are going to try to take a few pictures in MB this weekend so we can include them in our picture guestbook and then I need to make that! I bought a Groupon way back for Mixbook- so I am planning on using that service, so I will give you a preview when I get it made!
We finalized the cupcakes and cake with the bakery a few weeks ago
I didn't bring my camera that day for some reason..

- we are going with the two tiers similar to this mad hatter cake with the pattern in black and white and teal mickey heads.
We are not using fondant and just having standard regular square tiers, because we are the only ones going to be eating the cake and we just need a tier to eat and cut from and a top tier to save for our anniversary. To make the made hatter style would just be wayyy too much cake and we don't really need all that.
The rest of the guests will be getting cupcakes that look like this!
They will be chocolate and vanilla- they will be set out on split tiers of black and white hat boxes
with our cake in the middle with this topper:
I have also become obessed with the website
http://pinterest.com/ even more lately and getting good ideas for the wedding and the house. Two of the ideas I am going to be using for sure!
We bought cheap wine goblets at the dollar store and were going to put the mickey heads on top and put something in the bottom below. Like this:
But then I saw this....
What a great idea!!! We are going to flip the glasses and put a white
carnation in the bottom.
Also- totally stealing this idea for my bridal shower!
You bring your wedding shoes and have the guests right little words of encouragement, advice, memories, and sentiments on the bottom, that way you have some of the most important people in your life- help you walk down the aisle.
As far as personal news goes, nothing else besides work and looking for another job- DF's grandmother has been in declining health the past year, she has emphysema and has been on oxygen since I have known her. She has had a few rough patches these last couple months and has been in and out of the hospital and ER due to her breathing, and she gave us a huge scare a few weeks ago when they thought she wasn't going to make it. She went home yesterday from the hospital so I am looking forward to seeing her- she is one of the nicest ladies I have ever known and I consider her like my second grandma since mine passed away. I am just hoping she makes it for our wedding.. it would devastate me and DF to lose her before we get married... and DF just lost his dad last year to Cancer, so it would be a low blow

Here's hoping she gets better!! Keep her in your thoughts and prayers!!
