Disney VS Carnival

"Let's not put down other poster's posts when they are stating their own experiences and opinions."

This is EXACTLY what we are TRYING to get Edd to stop doing!! To stop putting other people down and ridiculing their opinions/perspectives/experiences!!

Then rather than continue arguing with him, report his posts to the Moderators. It's the little red triangle under his signature.

Yep, it's me, Kettle again.

I can't seem to stop reading these threads. It's like passing a car accident. You KNOW you don't want to slow down and look, but everyone does.

:sad2::sad2::sad2:

Everyone needs to "agree to disagree" and move along.:car:

Hi Kettle! Pot here! I know, I know... Every once in a while I think maybe somebody can get thru to Edd and maybe make a difference in his posts, but it's probably a lost cause. And like always... I'll be weary of it in a day or two and ignore these kinds of threads for a couple of weeks. And then I'll be back at it again.

You're right. It IS an addiction (and for those who are wondering what in the WORLD we are talking about... it was on a different thread earlier today!)

MickeyHugger- I read your research and it is interesting. I went through looking to see if any major cruise lines have ships that are 30 years old and were around before 1981. The oldest ships I could find were the Monarch of the Seas RCI and some of the Carnivals built in 1991. I know NCL was here in the 60's and did not find any of their ships 20 years older or older. RCI was formed in 1968 and Carnival was formed in 1972. The three major cruise lines I have noted do not have a ship that is older than 20 years old. Is there maybe a reason for that?

Also taken from the Frommer's review of cruise ships further down the page.

To stay fresh, cruise lines build not only brand new $500-million-plus ships, but also pump big bucks into refurbishing their existing fleets. Years of corrosive salt water and wind, not to mention constant use, takes its toll. Still, ships are routinely retired from service for the North American market when they're as young as 15 to 20 years old. Considered over-the-hill, they're shifted to a cruise line's Europe- or Asia-based divisions or sold to foreign lines whose clientele isn't as picky about age.

NOW we're thinking alike!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Because they didn't take good care of them?? :confused3:confused3
Sorry....just tossin' that out.

This applies to me too. I ignore, ignore, ignore...and then finally cannot ignore. When the post is so ridiculous, after ignoring a bunch that were ridiculous, I finally cave. I try to stop myself. It is not that I mind a different opinion...as a matter of fact, I even agree that RCI is a great line and even a better choice for some people. I wouldn't mind if Edd simply posted a different opinion....its the fact that he cannot do it without stating that people would have to be crazy not to see it his way. Or when he posts something outlandish like DCL is a failure compared to its competition. That, and the way he contradicts himself, sucks me in. I've never seen a person that comes onto a board for a product and does nothing but posts on threads that allow him to put-down that product. Its very weird to me.

I've posted a few threads giving my review of different cruises I have been on. I've enjoyed every cruise we've ever taken except 1 (that would be 23 cuises minus 1). I try to point out the good and note things that we thought could have been better. I have actually found that I avoid posting these reviews now simply because I don't want to deal with Edd. That's sad because he is taking away (my reviews) exactly what he seems to want to emphasize....the fact that other cruise lines offer a good product too.

Well, everyone COULD just start talking about him via PM's, or in code....like some people already do. Imagine how paranoid that would make someone.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

The sad thing is that the people with brains already KNOW what's right and what isn't....and yet, we all still end up getting sucked in.

The best answer......it IS possible to ignore someone's posts completely. There's a setting for that. Can't see 'em anymore. It's like pixiedust: *POOF* and they just disappear!!

I'm laughing about the "nothing much for teens and adults" to do comments.

I've been cruising with my children since 2000...we've been on three different cruise lines and we're about to go on our 19th cruise. We started when my youngest was 9 and my oldest was 23. The most kids I've had on one cruise was 5.

Every single one of them, every single cruise, LOVED Disney! There is something for every age. The kids have the clubs. As they turn 18, they get to go to the adult shows and clubs. At 21 they can start doing the tastings with Mom. The college kids have meets if they bother to go, and my kids have made great friends through the years at them.

Our cabin often became a hang out spot for the kids, so I have spoken with many more than my own children. I've rarely heard them complain about not enough to do. They enjoy themselves even if it's just hanging out...because they're kids...and that's what kids do! LOL

Just fyi, we also loved Carnival...but we didn't go until the youngest was in college. It is a party atmosphere, but the people were no more or less obnoxious than any other cruiseline. My kids hated RCCL. We are going on NCL in Europe this summer and can't wait to try something new.

It's all in the attitude, people...there's good and bad everywhere...
