Disney Visa worth it??

I did put our last trip on the card (October) and did the 0% for 6 months.

My full payment is due May 13, 2009. So I could get a Disney card in the next few weeks and charge the entire vacation on the card? I already have the money set aside so it would be paid off in full. Sounds like a good deal!

It is if you are going to take advantage of the benefits.

20% off tours
10% shopping at World of Disney
6 months no finance on WDW vacations

For the 1% Disney rewards, it is a waste. There are serveral cards out there that offer 5% back.

so far, all the 5% offers we've seen are limited as to what kinds of charges can be put on -- like only groceries, drugstores & gas stations...and one we looked at recently - the Amer Express - limited it even further in that you couldn't get the rewards at "super" stores. Which is where we buy at least half of our pharmacy & grocery products (Walmart) We prefer getting the 1% on everything -- including the DD's college expenses.

I have heard that they will also do free stroller rental at WDW. The OP that I read that from said they talked with a CM who told them that was an often asked question.

Does not apply to my family so I have not followed up on it.

I'm pretty sure that the free stroller rental is only in DL, not WDW. sorry...

The Disney VISA website is very good. It is very easy to use in order to review your balances and transactions, make payments, etc...

It also provides a link to your Rewards. The Rewards website is very easy to use as well. Some credit card rewards programs make you jump through a million hoops to receive your rewards but the Disney Rewards website makes it very easy. You just submit your request online and receive a debit card within two weeks with your Disney Rewards.

We expect to order our August trip within two months. We will be sure to request our $600 in Disney Rewards to help pay for the trip. We would have to think twice about this trip if we did not have the Rewards.

We have had it for almost a year and racked up a decent number of points. We are soon going to pay off our $8,000 car loan... my hope is to first put it on the card and then pay it off immediately.

The discounts on tours is nice also!

Thanks for all of the responses. I also wondered about the 5% or higher cards, but in my research of them they really are limited as to what you can put on them and what you can't. I wish the % were higher for the Disney card, but at least I do know that the biggest majority of stuff that we do put on it will get the points.

My wife and I use it for EVERYTHING! We pay it off every month, but if we're going to buy something we put it on the card and get some money back. It's not like we don't go to Disney enough to use it. We've had it for 3 years and we already have enough to cover most of our next trip. Basically I see it as just getting money back and an excuse to go back!

It's worth it to me. On our last trip, our Disney rewards paid for our campsite for a week. The year before, it paid for my AP and most of my daughter's AP. Plus I LOVE opening my wallet and seeing Mickey on my credit card. It brightens my day. I use a credit card for just about everything and pay it off at the end of every month, so I'm not paying interest. I've had various rewards cards, and this one is my favorite.

the card is great for the discounts you get and the pictures and stuff you get at epcot, and if its the only card you use itll be good fo the points you rack up on it

You all are inspiring me to use my card more often!

I get compliments from sales people a lot when I hand it to them to pay. It does get you in the Disney mood doesn't it?!

Have to say, the cards ARE cute and it would get me in the Disney mood but since I'm going in late June I don't see how I'll rack up enough credits to make it worth my while... If only I got points for balance transfers...:confused3 Still on the fence about getting one, though, because 1) they ARE cute and 2) after my 2005 trip I said I'd never go to Disney again (nothing bad, just been there, done that kind of thing) and here I am going again and very excited about it! :yay: Maybe four years from now I'll go again...this time with lots of accumulated points... :goodvibes

We've had our cards for almost two years and like most everyone else here, use it instead of our debit card and pay it off monthly-hence we've never paid interest. The interest free for 6 months is great too on WDW vacations. We had several hundred dollars last year and used it for souvenears. I hadn't thought about paying our utilities with it...something to investigate! :surfweb: We're going again in June and would love to maximize our return dollars! But I do say, if you are not a Disney fan, don't travel there often, or use credit cards much or aren't to pay them off...this card is not for you. I also get a LOT of compliments on my Tinkerbell card! :cutie:

I've gotten the offers but when I read the fine print I back away. Not that it is really bad, just that it isn't as wide open as it would seem.

It has been about 6 months since I last read that fine print, but...it seemed that you could only use your points in certain situations, e.g. to book meal plans, but not to pay for individual meals. (not saying that's an ACTUAL rule, just my impression)

Could someone lay out how points are used? Specifically for what they can be used and how they are redeemed? Or maybe point to a website that has this info without applying first?

Also, what is the benefit of buying Disney gift certificates before going? I would think that anywhere in WDW you could plop down a gift cert, you could also just plop down the credit card for the actual sale - and get the same points. Am I missing something?

1% is putrid. every other card out there gives you better returns. and the perks are so limited, i dont see the economic sense of using it.

i just finished booking keys to the kingdom and the visa discount didnt go through, i have to get the discount on the day of the tour, its all due to a new system, it should be fixed at some point

We charge everything we can: Groceries, Gas, Dining Out, our Disney Trips - and pay it off every month (obviously).

This year, we've had the additional advantage of charging all of my husband's grad school expenses - so our points are really adding up! :teacher:

One thing I haven't seen mentioned here is that we received 3 different reward bonus times this year when our gas, dining out, groceries and travel were all rewarded at 5% (over a certain amount). So we got 5% for 9 months this year on most of the things we regularly charge!

:teacher: :teacher: :teacher:

It is fun.

There aren't any other cards I'd rather have (except maybe a Gymboree card - but no good can come of that ;)).
