Didn't really know where to post this; figured that here was as good as anywhere. Can anyone enlighten me as to your experience with the Disney Visa card? Is it worth having if you are a frequent Disney visitor? DW and I don't really do the credit card thing much, but one that could possibly earn us rewards thru Disney was appealing, especially since we travel there frequently. Any help/advice is appreciated.

It depends on how you use it.

I just got one recently. I got it mostly for the free photo session at EP. They also have an early release for free dining.

I did end up using the 0% interest as our TV died last week and the replacement was not in my budget. So I guess I have $1100 worth of points on it. So that is $11.

I prefer my Chase rewards card that gives me a $250 check for every $20,000 I spend. I put EVERYTHING on this card and pay it off in full EVERY month. If you can't do this, I would not suggest you use any credit cards. BTW, I use this for my business, so I get to the $20,000 pretty quickly.

We are charter members of the Disney Visa and we us our points all the time. It's only a 1 percent return but if you use your card as much as we do we get a lot of points each visit. We pay it off every month so we don't pay much interest.

We love it. We go to Disney every year. I have around $165 on our rewards card right now. We're not real disciplined, so I hate to charge everything on it, but it's nice to know that when you do use it you're getting something back! Right now I'm trying to put all gas and groceries on it to get more rewards before our trip in June. We figure it's a "free" meal or two or at least pays for stroller rental for a week! And the free 5x7 at Epcot is a nice touch.

We also have te Disney Visa and love te free pics at epcot. ALso we use it and then give te kids the Disney Dollars to use at the park. We also pay it in full every month, as we dont really use credit cards. But its a good thing to have if you are a frequent Disney visiter.

I agree with what others have said. We pile the charges onto our card, but we pay it off each month. DW uses it for biz expenses and we even charged our DVC membership to the card so we really rack up the points.:earsboy:

Just got our last August after booking a trip for this May to WDW. We have over $300 in rewards dollars and have used about $50 on top of that at the local Disney Store already. (we pay it off monthly to avoid charges so it's completely free money)
Three hundred dollars will get us a few free meals in Disney!

Wish we had gotten is sooner. We used to use LLbean, which only gives 1/2%.

Love our Disney Visa. Have had it for aroud 5 different trips and have used about $850 in rewards dollars. That's $850 that didn't come out of my pocket. One little trick you can do, is go to a Disney Store and buy gift certificates for your upcoming trip (you know you'll need a lot of money anyways) and use your Dis. Visa to buy them, you'll get the 1%.

If you go to Disneyland you can use it for free stroller rental also.

I have one and used it the first trip to Disney, Now that I just booked trip #2 I found it a refief to know that I have 0% for 6 months to pay for it. If you have a chase account (checking) you can pay your credit card with your debit card and double your rewards (get your Disney rewards points and your Chase account reward points)... so I have been told. We just opened our checking account and havent yet used it to pay bills.

So in a nutshell (and I am sorry for rambling) I believe that The Rewards card is a good thing.. Plus you get discounts at the Disney Store.

I have heard that they will also do free stroller rental at WDW. The OP that I read that from said they talked with a CM who told them that was an often asked question.

Does not apply to my family so I have not followed up on it.

Anyone have some other good tips and tricks on how to rack up the points? I'm going to switch y Netflix subscription to my Disney card and I'm trying to use it for all purchases. We're hoping to go in November and I would like to earn a significant # of points.

I have been using the card since it came out and it has saved me thousands of dollars. I too pay it off every month, using it for almost everything and I also use it to charge for my business, so I can really rack up the points. Just got back last night from a spur of the moment trip for 4 nights, and the points paid for our entire hotel stay. So yes it is worth it. I sometimes use my airlines card so I can fly free as well.

Pay your phone and utilities if they allow it. Use it for groceries, etc..... But again, I with the chase rewards card, (Disney card is also chase) I get 1 point per dollar + 2 additional points for particular items like gas, utilities, travel, and a lot more up to an additional 4000 points per month. Then when you cash them in you get $250 cash for 20,000 points. Cash can be used anywhere while Disney rewards can only be used at Disney.

Okay this is my first post. Hi all :)

We have been using the Disney Visa for two years and put everything possible on it. Occasionally they have a special where you get triple points in certain categories if you spend a certain amount (e.g. groceries). That's where you really can build up a bunch of points.

I put several monthly bills on it as well and we hardly ever use a debit card anymore. I just make sure to pay it off montly.

Our entire hotel room at POP was paid for in December with the reward points, and we had some left over to buy food at the parks. Free money is always nice :)

:welcome:

We use our card for everything and pay it off each month. I did put our last trip on the card (October) and did the 0% for 6 months. I kept the money in savings and just paid it off at the beginning of March. It was nice that I earned the rewards points for the trip and still earned interest on the money while it sat in savings.

We are charter members too, and use our card for EVERYTHING. We actually use it like a debit card. I take every charge right out of my checkbook. When the statement comes in, I add the amount of the charges back into my checkbook and write the check. This way, I never spend more money than I have, and I pay it off every month. In all the years that we've had the card, we've never carried a balance.

We've been able to rack up a lot of points, and we use them for souvies or food on our trips. I've accumulated about 350 points so far for our upcoming June trip. They will pay for the few OOP table service meals we're planning (we are doing the QSDP).

we also put most everything on our rewards cards, and pay off monthly: even the groceries. As others have said, we use ours instead of a debit card. And if you have any really large recurring bills you budget for, put them on the reward card for even better savings. DH even puts DD's college room & board bill on the Disney card...more than $6000 per year. He put the college dorm bill on the card, then when we get the credit card bill, he takes the money out of the 529 college savings plan & pays the Disney bill. Works like a charm, and we make $60 extra to spend at Disney. If you have the discipline, it can be quite a benefit financially.

I also have the Disney Visa . Can I use the points to buy a refillable mug at the resort?

I wish they would have a Disney Visa available to Canadians! :sad2:
