I wonder if strollers and ECV's have been figured into the rumour of capacity being 4,000-5,000 people per hour? I would predict that a majority of the gondolas will not be leaving the station with 10 people . . . more like 5 people, plus a stroller. Or, 2 people on ECVs. Or, 6-8 people who don't want to squish in tightly just to fit 10.

Should depend on who uses the "2nd loop". Those can be pretty slow loads and barely effect the rest of the standby.

Which loop they choose wouldn't matter in terms of total capacity per hour, though. I wasn't referring to how fast they load, but how many people are actually going to be in each gondola that takes off.

Ah, yes completed packed at 10 in every cabin is obv the max the system can handle.

But it's pretty unlikely to me that they will need 5,000 an hour at 2PM from Pop for example.

Once again we will know the first day how the lines are.

Not so much no line more continues moving line. This will help with large backups like on the monorails and buses

I'm so excited about this. I have a trip planned in September, and it looks increasingly likely that I may get my hoped-for ride from IG over to CBR on the gondolas.

I don’t travel with a posse of dozens of friends including 3 strollers and 2 ECV’s.

Most of the time, when I arrive at a bus or boat stop (at a park or resort) there’s a 30-60+ second wait before another family arrives. I think continuously loading gondolas would mean immediate availability for my touring 95%+ of the time.
(I generally wait for crowds to thin after fireworks...and the gondolas aren’t serving parking lot trams that dump hundreds of guests at a time)

If the bus takes 30 minutes to arrive, then it’s possible for dozens of guests to show up, including a few strollers and ECV’s.

And if you figure a bus every 15-20 minutes per resort per park covered, that's 4 buses an hour x 2 parks x 3 resorts (not counting Riviera because it's not online yet so it's not affecting capacity). 40 buses is a whole lot more than 24 per hour, and gondolas are constantly moving so you won't be standing still much in the queue line.

I picture that it will be similar to how an escalator handles a big crowd. This happens at modern sports stadiums that have them. When there's a rush, you can't just walk up to the escalator, but you are constantly moving towards the escalator and your time to the escalator is under a minute. Some (not you, I know) may count this as a "wait time," but to me, it's not the same as standing around waiting for a bus.

It's essentially the same as any number of omni-mover rides that are already at WDW. While I REALLY HOPE there will be no wait for the gondolas, I've also waited (in a constantly moving line) for 30-45 minutes to get on the peoplemover or spaceship earth. Time will tell how this all shakes out, I guess!

Skyliner capacity is 50% higher per hour than Its a Small World, on every line in each direction, and the hotels it serves are a fraction of MK capacity plus those hotels' guests will be split among 4 parks.

The wait times ..if any ..will or won't happen depending on if the bus service stays as it is now or if they change it.
If the buses are the same then the only wait might be at Epcot/IGW after fireworks....DHS has Fantasmic, star wars fireworks and SWGE finishing at different times so that will spread out the crowd.
Leaving the Skykiner resorts will have both gondola and bus options unless they change the bus service..so far nothing announced.

I would think that one of the closest ride-load approximations would be TSMM, since that ride also has a "disability loop" loading zone. TSMM holds 4/car, so you can cut the expected load time at least in half, but you would pretty much have to have the Skyliner's load speed at more than 10X the load speed of TSMM to eliminate the line backup.

I don't expect the Skyliner to have a 30 minute wait as an all-day thing, but it won't surprise me to see that at resorts in the mornings for the hour or so bracketing rope drop, at least for a while when the system is new and novel.

It will be interesting to see how many folks with strollers will choose to use the stationary load area. Certainly, single strollers should not need to use it, but I think that some folks with doubles will choose to, for fear of not being able to back it off in time.
(Which brings up the question of how often that happens -- that someone who rolled on with no problem cannot roll off as easily, and causes a safety issue. (Assuming that CM's will have a panic-stop button available, and I cannot see how it would be possible not to.)

Just wanted to point out that it won’t be serving just 3 resorts. Guests staying at all the Epcot resorts (7 of them) might choose to use the gondolas too. And anyone going to or from Epcot by way of the international gateway.

Just wanted to point out that it won’t be serving just 3 resorts. Guests staying at all the Epcot resorts (7 of them) might choose to use the gondolas too. And anyone going to or from Epcot by way of the international gateway.

While this is true, there is no anticipated decrease or removal of bus or boat services to those resorts.
