Hi Lugnut,
"I recently purchased a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 and all the photos I'm posting here are from that camera. One thing I learned about posting here is much of the sharpness in the posting is based on how I save the photo into my photobucket acct. I don't have the pro account, so that might even make a difference."
What I am referring to is edge sharpness in the original- which you generally only see in the high end DSLR cameras with really good lenses. Though sharing a lower rez image would affect that, but I can still see it in many pictures on the net- and I envy it so! I have a lot of pictures that would be defining if they had that sharpness.
"So far with the FZ-35 I am happy with the photos"
I have read many most excellent reviews on that!
"but I still have a lot to learn. I'm a total newb when it comes to having a decent (definitely not a pro type camera) camera."
LOL! There is so much on any of these- most of us only learn what we need or find we need. Have you read the manual? LOL!
"Another area that I have to learn a lot of is editing. I look at many of the photos here and I can tell they have been edited quite heavily, however that's what you need to do to get those killer shots."
Ahhhhh... I disagree. Some here clearly have significantly worked their photos, and some to very good results, but I tend to stick to what comes out of the camera though I do usually have to rotate about 1.2 degrees- seems I am a bit unblalanced... And I do increase gamma and reduce noise on some of the dark ride shots. But the 'killer' I am talking about is good ol' lens quality sharpness.
"I'm actually running out of photos to post, so good thing I'll be heading to Disneyland in a month or so."
Oh my! LOL! I have 6,817 on one of my webshots accounts alone- mostly WDW, and that is a small percentage of what I have shot! BTW, private album on two of last week's four days at the F&G...
