Disney Page Colors?

So I've already created 2 Disney scrapbook albums along with a Disney Cruise album. I've noticed that the majority of the colors that I used were the typical "Disney-Mickey colors"---Black, Red, Yellow & White.

Aside from the occassional Pooh and Tigger pages that are yellow and orange.

When you do your Disney pages, do you use other colors besides the obvious? I need help to branch out to other colors.

And since I have boys (12/13) I don't have any princess pages, so no pink/purple.

I usually match up the clothes we are wearing to the pages. I'll try to also match our surroundings to the pages. I have done alot of pages from Disney and the cruise that don't have anything Disney on them.

I find myself using brown or green for a few pages each time- Adventureland, Frontierland and Animal Kingdom are good for those colors. I use silver, greens, blues, and purple(dark) for tomorrowland, I tend to use red, white, and blue for Liberty Square.

I started using a variety of colors for the World Showcase and tend to use silvber and bright colors for Future world.

I also take colors out of my photos to pull out- I actually have very few red, white, black, and yellow pages in my Disney albums.

A couple that come to mind
Pastels/light blue/tropicla~Beach Club, Poly, CBR
Browns, Greens~Adventureland, AK, AKL, WL, FW
Red, Green, Blue, White~World Showcase

Also around the holiday or special event while you are there. My last album had tonnes of oranges and other fall colours for Halloween.

I used very few "Disney" color schemes on my last Disney album. I tried to approach the pictures the way I would if I were scrapping everyday photos. I matched colors to the pictures, to our apparel, to the mood of the page, or just used black and white shots and then picked whatever colors appealed to me at the moment. The concession I made to Disney was including a hidden mickey on each page - whether as a collection of buttons or brads, or a punch, or whatever.

It's a bit like trying to scrap Halloween photos without using black or orange, but it makes for a pretty and varied album.

Good luck!

Ya know, I think that's what my problem is....I have trouble taking the colors within the picture and using those to match up the page colors. I always look at all these layouts that other people have done and fall in love with them and wonder why mine never look like that. I think that is the reason. I really need to take a few minutes before doing a page and really think things through instead of just trying to get it done and just throw it together.

Thanks!!!

I agree with what previous posters said. I go with what colors are in the photo, more than what would be "traditional" Disney colors. I use a lot of brown and green and tan for AK (sort of obvious I suppose)... but I also throw in burnt orange and turquoise. I did notice I used a LOT of black for MK on our last trip I scrapped...not sure why. But also lots of brights (blues, reds). I am a bit of a fiend about coordinating our clothes for each day of the trip (YES, I am ANAL!!), so I can usually coordinate my pages colors to go with our clothes....................P

out of all the books I have done not one is a color theme one. I always do my pages based on what colors are in the photos used.

I've done what others have said...like for the AKL I used browns and dark greens. I also just did a Beach Club page with pastel blues and greens. Sometimes I'll just use random papers too.

I just looked at my DGS’s album, which is the last one I did. Just like the others have said, I have sort of matched my surroundings but the one with Buzz Lightyear has lime green and purple and the Monsters Inc one has bright turquoise and purple. They look good by boy are they bright.

For my yearly albums with everyday pictures I use colors that are in the pictures or highly compliment the pictures, but for "special" albums - our wedding, F&W Festival, vacations, etc. - I definitely use theme colors throughout the album and I really like the continuity in the pages. I have so many yearly albums where each page (or 2-page spread) can stand on it's own apart from the book, which is great, but using a color theme for "special" albums really sets them apart and I love that!
For example:
Disney - Primarily I use yellow, red, black, white
Vegas - Silver, red, black
Cruise - Blues, greens, white

I practically ignore the fact that it's a disney album and pick colors based on the theme - Animal kingdom is lots of greens, browns, various earth tones. For Future World I also tend to use grey, black and silver the most. I use lots of bright, but not necessarily primary colors for DHS.

Sometimes I do something completely contrary - I once did a Monorail page that looked vaguely western using orange & blue roughed up papers with brown "leather" letters for the title.

I think it's boring if everything matches or is themed exactly the way someone would expect it..

Besides choosing colors from your photos use colors that portray the feeling of the section of the park where your pictures have been taken. Each pavilion of the World Showcase basically has it's own color themes. Mexico; tans, aquas, bright pinks, Norway; red, blue, white, browns, Germany; green, red, blue, etc...You can do the same with MK, AK and DHS. Tower of Terror you can use maroon, gold, black. Space Mountain, red, white, blue, silver. Splash Mountain, greens, blues, white, browns, and throw in a couple of brights.

Each attraction has it's own color theme, use it to your advantage.

I think one of the reasons we use so much black, red and yellow is because those are the colors of most of the Disney themed papers and embellishments.
