Disney on Ice..do we need front row?

We saw a version of Disney on Ice 4 years ago and had the very front row. It was pretty cool. The kids were 2,5 and 8 at the time. Now the "100 years of Magic" version is coming and tickets go on sale tomorrow. With the kids now 6,9 and 12, is front row necessary to enjoy the show? I know I don't want to be way in the back, but those first few rows are expensive!

Yes, the 5000 other people in the arena who aren't in the front row, don't enjoy the show AT ALL. Sucks to be them. :lmao: ;)

But seriously, no, you don't have to be in the front row to enjoy 'any' show. Usually, in fact, you see better in any arena if you are about 1/3 or 1/4 of the way up/back because you can see the whole thing at once. There are a lot of good places to sit in between the way in the back and the front row.

We sat rink side for an ice show and it was a bit chilly. Plus whenever the skaters were at the other end of the rink I had problems looking over the heads of the people next to us. As a PP mentioned, first row of the 2nd tier has better visibility.

It definitely is a personal opinion. Our first year we took DD 2 at the time and had front row and loved it. The second year I got 2nd row on the ice because they were $20 cheaper - it was awful, the kids couldn't see over the first row since you were the same level. The last few years we've sat higher up because I've had 40% promotions and it was best for my brother and his family since they always went with us. This year, I decided to splurge and go back to front row. DS has never sat close since he didn't go the first 2 years with us (way too young) and I paid for the difference for my brother so my niece can be up in the front row too. We're going to the Princesses and Heroes show.

I should add that I'm going by myself, so price is no object.

Where I to attend with a family, then I may not be so quick to spend $140 on a front row seat.
