Oh it definitely is - and it's larger than many early ships. But compared to her younger sisters she is small.I've been on most of the ships, and I thought the Magic felt plenty big enough
Tiny were those BIG RED BOATS that Disney had partnered with before starting their own cruise line. The company went bankrupt and one of the boats spent a while laid up at Freeport. It was sad to see it laying there on the beach...
Sounds like a perfect honeymoon, and clearly it took, since it’s now 30 years and counting! Congratulations. It is so funny to look back and see how small, and I guess unimpressive those ships were. We sailed on the Oceanic in 1995 (Looney Toon characters by then, not Disney) for our honeymoon...first cruise ever. We thought it was wonderful! DH stands by it was some of the best cruise food he's ever had (now with 35 cruises under our belts). It's really what started the cruise addiction for us.
Even though it rained pretty much the whole time, we loved it.

While I have never a bad meal on a cruise, before specialty restaurants, the MDR was the ONLY option so they had to put their best food foot forward there. It is so funny to look back and see how small, and I guess unimpressive those ships were. Cruising has changed significantly since then. While I have never a bad meal on a cruise, before specialty restaurants, the MDR was the ONLY option so they had to put their best food foot forward there.
My first cruise in 1980, the MDR was the only option for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. One seating for dinner, at 6 pm, and dinner was a 12 course, 3 1/2 hour production.
The shows on that cruise were no big deal though. The singer was the Captain. The comedian was the Cruise Director. Fast forward to the SS Norway in 1983 and 1984, they not only had the Broadway type shows that are common even today. However, they had two celebrity performers on board every cruise......folks you would see on the Tonight Show, and Mike Douglas Shows on TV. And not only did those performers do their show, but they hung out with the passengers the rest of the week. I played basketball against The Fifth Dimension. Sat next to Norm Crosby and Jack Jones at the bar........it was a neat experience.
True. Not like the Love Boat where it was often a once in a lifetime trip. Now people go on several cruises a year. When I was working I never had enough time off to do that.Cruising has changed significantly since then.
We both work full time and we are up to 42 cruises over 23 yearsTrue. Not like the Love Boat where it was often a once in a lifetime trip. Now people go on several cruises a year. When I was working I never had enough time off to do that.
