Thanks!! I having fun looking for pictures!
The CM sent me my new reservations. (ok, I'm scared to say this) It look like a did. Alright, I thrilled! I didn't ask for this at all. But it seems this was upgraded too.![]()
I'm not sure why you all are happy with this resolution. The resort she's been offered is not the resort she booked either. Your argument is that the "overbooked crowd" has been looking forward to POP since they booked it, SSR in that case is just as much NOT POP as an All-stars resort is. Doesn't make any sense.
This is a huge case of entitlement mentality, not just from the OP but from a whole lot of you.
I've tried to get moved from the All Stars, but had no luck. I even sited examples of people on the Dis boards who were moved to other resorts and I was told that "those people shouldn't have said anything because they aren't telling you the whole story." I guess some people were moved to nicer places because of health reasons???Makes no sense to me. The last guy I spoke with wasn't very nice, I guess he's out of pixie dust. I didn't even want an upgrade, I just wanted to stay at POP.
I have to go wash this bitter taste out of my mouth. After all, I'm going to Disney in 3 days!!!Best of luck to everyone who is still dealing with their room changes!

the terms of the contract were broken which reopens the process. legally WDW is only obligated to match the original agreement.........if WDW is given a counter offer by the customer and they accept it.......why would you put the burden on the party that counter offered.........all WDW had to do was say........no way Jose...... and the customer at that point could either accept or would be entitled to a complete refund. no one is holding anyone hostage here........it is called "offer and acceptance"I'm not sure why you all are happy with this resolution. i am sure mgmt is told to handle this on a "case by case" basis and some will bust you harder than others.......the truth is they did set a precedent the moment they gave the first upgrade......you got got. i would keep calling till i got ungot.I've tried to get moved from the All Stars, but had no luck. I called the PC Resort main line just to confirm that my reservations from 8/17-8/26 are still in place. I told them that I heard a rumor that things were moving around for some people. They had no idea what I was talking about. So the call got escalated to the "Room Assignment Center" where I talked to someone who asked me a few questions - where did you hear this? Did you read it online? Where did you read this? Then I got transfered to "IT" who asked me a few more questions and then said that I am confirmed at POP and that the resort is not making calls of any type at this time. They said that it must be the CR doing it.
Interesting - I talked to 4 different people. They all seemed worried...
But that's not the same at all. A move from a Value resort to a Value resort is absolutely substantial performance of the contract.ElizabethB said:2. Even if the disclaimer is enforceable, that does not in any way mean that relying on it is a smart move -- either legally or reputationally.
Some years back, one of the cruise lines exercised its contractual right to change the cruise itinerary. But, they did not just eliminate a port stop. When people arrived at the NJ port for their cruise to Bermuda, they were told that due to a hurricane the ship was being rerouted to Canada. Now, some may say well, it was a hurricane -- an act of God, what could the cruise line do?
However, passengers were not happy to hear at the port that their swim suits would be useless and they would need sweaters for autumn weather in Canada. Many people said they would have cancelled had they been told of the substituted cruise itinerary.
Instead, despite the hurricane, they apparently were told not to worry and that the cruise would leave on time. (Never mind it was going North rather than South.) Cruise boards erupted much like here. Many people cited the language in the contract about the cruise line's right to alter the itinerary without notice. Others said the cruise line should have provided a rescheduling option rather than wait until people had used 1/2 their air tickets to fly to the port only to learn at the port about the significant change to their trip.
My view was that if I booked a trip to Bermuda, a trip to Canada would not constitute substantial performance of the contract. Apparently, the attorney general of New Jersey agreed. The attorney general took on the case for the aggrieved passengers and sued the cruise line. I never heard the outcome, but I assume a settlement of some sort was negotiated.
So, in that case a business decision to rely on the disclaimer was dumb (i) because the cruise company got sued by the state of NJ and (ii) the reputational fall-out was enormous.
Enforcing a contract isn't always the wisest choice by the party with the greater bargaining power. In the situation of the Pop people being moved to All Stars, although the "substituted product" is not as dramatically different as a Bermuda trip being changed to Canada, many posters seem to feel that the difference is nearly that significant.
It is hard for me to believe that Disney has made a sound business decision by suggesting that aggrieved Pop guests change to the All Stars, when SSR and OKW seem to have lots of availability.
No, we understand being disappointed or unhappy. Some of us are having trouble with the sense of entitlement - that "Oh, WDW can't fit you in the resort you reserved? Well, they should put you in the Presidential Suite!!!" No, I know that wasn't suggested, but that's the mood.gilsan said:I am surprised at the number of people that don't understand why someone who booked at POP would be unhappy to be moved to an All-Star resort. They booked POP, paid for POP, and made plans based on POP.
Disney needs to change that system.
third - love the food court, gift shop and arcade at Pop. not so fond of these things at All stars. Now you could walk between all the all stars resort fairly easily - but just the idea that you had to walk to another resort to find what you are after - is enough to make me never stay there again.
now the gift shop and arcade are better at SSR. but the food court is not - most of the food comes already done. So if you have allergies like I do - ssr is not the place for you. Now the restuarant can change everything but when you budget $10 for lunch and it ends up costing you$20 because you had to go to a restuarant instead of a food court - again you won't be back unless there is no choice.
