Disney hotels full... uh oh!

We're going April 29th-May 2nd

When we started planning our most recent trip I'd read that the end of April/early May is a slower time. I was considering trying out the buy 3, get 2days in the Disney hotels if the price was ok but *gulp* all three hotels are full!

I don't get it. Is there never a slow time anymore!?

Don't get me wrong... I'm still excited to go. I was invited to go to Club 33 by another member of the Disboards and I'm so excited it's keeping me up at night!

Slower does not equal slow!!! -- Sorry! It's probably still less expensive to stay off-site. For true slow times -- try January.

I think Disneyland Resort Hotels consistently have a 95% occupied rate. So even during slower times, they are still going to be full.

Doesn't the Food & Wine event run thru early June??? If so, that would explain it....... very popular event at Disney!!!!

Did you call them to make sure? Luckey you with club33. We have tried and tried, one day we hope it will happen. Have a great time.

Very cool on behalf of a fellow DISBoarder regarding Club 33!

I would keep calling regarding rooms. I checked the convention calendar and didn't see anything specific that stood out during those dates Something may open up, you never know.

that is a little weird those dates are booked try calling.

June still shows rooms open via the web.

BTW I have heard of the whole club 33 thing but don't know much about it, can someone fill me in?
Only famous people get club 33 or something like that

I would keep calling up until the usual 48 hour cancellation window for another hotel. Good luck!

Don't forget to try travel agents too - there are sometimes allocations with wholesalers which may not be booked. These are not necessarily more expensive that going to the hotel and sometimes can be less.

I actually tried to book my trip through a travel agent first and they had all the DLR hotels booked for the entire month we're going! We were going to leave it at that but we just didn't understand how that could be that all three are booked up completely and it's only February! So when I got home I just went to the DLR website and found availability in all the resorts, AND for the exact dates I wanted.


Thought that was weird, but then again...idk! The travel agents were also quoting my mom and I an average of $300 each, round trip out of Fort Lauderdale to SNA. We are actually from Palm Beach, that's where all of my family lives, so naturally the Palm Beach International Airport would have been our best bet. However, since PBI is a slightly smaller airport it was about $500 for each of us. We don't mind the 30 minute drive to Fort Lauderdale to save like $400, so we just decided on doing our own airfare and ended up paying about $530 for both of us after taxes through the Continental Airlines site....

I'm going off on a rant! Too make a long story short, make sure you check every source available...DLR website, calling VP, checking with travel agents...because you might get different responses! Always check all of your options!

Thanks for the information here. I did call yesterday and all 3 hotels are full for that weekend. The CM on the phone thought it was strange because there wasn't anything in particular going on other than the beginning of the wine festival.

I also asked for a quote for the good neighbor special but it ended up being $831/5 nights at Red Lion Inn + 2 day hoppers. (we get a park hopper for the day we go to Club 33 for eating there, so we only need 2 days)

That's a lot more than our currrent plan: $210/5 nights at Quality Inn and the Southern Cali 2-fers ~$140= $350.

I don't expect the Quality Inn to be the best accomodations after what I've read, but we'll see.

I guess we'll have to save the resort hotels for our next trip We stayed at the Grand Californian once before and barely spent any time there anyway...

No, I haven't. Maybe they know of rooms that resort accomodations don't have available?

Yes, I'm looking forward to Club 33 very much. It's the opportunity of a lifetime! I love Disney and this is one place that I haven't been yet.

Well every travel agency has their own inventory, or their own to book from (to put it over-simply and possibly slightly wrong, LOL).

So AAA might have things Costco doesn't, and Costco might have rooms that calling Disney might not, and calling Disney might have different rooms than using disneyland.com, etc etc. Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity, Priceline (are the disney hotels even on priceline?), Hotwire, etc, all have their own too.

So if you really want to stay there, it's good to check it all, to make 100% sure there's nothing.

But they have been running the AP specials...first the 40% off special for stays through April 30, then they ended that and extended AP8 through April 30.

It might be worth it to go day by day, if you wouldn't mind a hotel-switch in there. For instance, logging into my disneyland.com account and going to the AP pages, they show availability at the DLH for the 30th and 1st. So you could keep your one day at the other hotel on the 29th, then check in really early on the 30th (early enough and you could get MM that Thursday!!!!!) and have a nice DLH stay.

Now, that's just a hotel stay, not the 5 day package, but if 3 nights is all you wanted, it gets you in the door.

Of course, that might just be rooms with the AP rate that are available, not rooms at a normal rate! Call and check day by day, if you don't mind a non-package deal.

Or even call the package places and start from the 30th, to see if the package is available without including the 29th.

A private membership ($$$$) club inside of Disneyland's New Orleans Square. It's above, sort of, Blue Bayou. It's the only place booze is served in Disneyland itself. Part of the cost of eating there is a one-day ticket, which is why the OP doesn't need a ticket for that day.
