Disney Gift Card Deals

This Office Depot Sears Disney thing is an AWESOME money saver!!! I just got 1600 worth of Disney gift cards (would have gotten more but cleaned them out of all the Sears cards they had). No Disney cards at Sears, but they DID have at KMart. No problems paying for the Disney cards with the Sears card. I was nervous though and only bought 200.00 worth in case it wouldn't work. But after it did I hightailed it back to Office Depot to grab more Sears cards. When they ran out, they suggested maybe check Office Max since they just merged. They didn't have any Sears cards so not sure if it would have worked or not. Before I found the Disney cards at KMart, I contemplated getting Visa cards with the 5.95 service fee. It still would have been almost 15% saving even with that service charge. Also thought about getting amazon to use to ship groceries through Prime Pantry. Luckily I didn't need to, but if anyone finds there aren't any or enough Disney cards, think about other options like that. I'm so grateful to the people on this board and the person who told us about this amazing deal!! When all was said and done, I saved $320 in cold hard cash, got three 30 cent gas vouchers, and whatever other KMart rewards from racking up points. Never shopped there enough before, so I'll have to learn what that might mean. If only it didn't require cash payment at Office Depot, I would have loved the Chase Visa reward, too :-) $320! That's BBB, Pick a Pearl, DisneyQuest, and some extra splurges that just weren't in the budget before-soooooo excited!! Traveling tomorrow and plan to stop at all the Office Deoots en route to see if I can snatch up some more :-). Ok, I'm off to enter all these gift cards in my new DVA! Thanks everyone!!!

I'm thinking this is pretty awesome too!! I'm running out tomorrow to check our Sears to see if they carry the Disney cards, then gonna run to Office Depot to buy the Sears cards if they are really doing this promotion. I'm thinking it's even better if I can use my discover card to pay for the Sears cards....that's 5% cashback if Office Depot qualifies as a department store under Discover's terms and conditions. If not, I'll still get the 1% cashback. If this all pans out, I think I'll be grabbing the rest of all the cards I need to pay for my trip. Should end up saving around $800....OMG! I'm so excited! I don't think there's a good chance to really ever save more than 20% on Disney gift cards.....so this is a must try!

Now all of you have me excited about the Sears deal. I'll have to check Sears for Disney Gift cards and then Office Depot for Sears gift cards. Where does Sears keep their Disney gift cards if they had them?

Just an FYI, according to another site you must be an Office Depot Rewards Member to get the deal. Also, here is a coupon for free candy with a $75 purchase: http://www.officedepot.com/a/conten...e&cm_mmc=Affiliates-_-CJ-_-2568826-_-11272891

ETA: Apparently this is the last day for the promotion.

ETA2: Were people able to call the local K-Marts/Sears to see if they have Disney Gift Cards? There are none near me, but I'm driving to Chicago next week and there are a few on the way. I would really like to but a BUNCH of Sears cards ($2 K) but I don't want to get stuck with them if I can't churn them into Disney cards for my DVC dues.

Yes! I was talking about you!! Were your ears burning??? :goodvibes

Can you tell I'm a little nervous about doing this??

I'm surprised DCL would take your payment if you booked via Costco? I guess they realize that Costco would have to call them anyway. Glad to know it was easy. Please report back with updates if you have them.

Confused about your question . . . how would you not have to bring the $140 in gift cards with you? Are you thinking you would apply each $20 bonus back to the DVA and then pay toward your onboard account with the DVA when you pay off your cruise??? Can you do this? Didn't know you could load your onboard account from the DVA. Am I misunderstanding????

Jodie

Ha ha :) :wave2: Yep, no issues at all for DCL to take it from me and apparently this is their preference based on the terms of the DV account. Of course they might tell you they can't do anything else, but I didn't need anything else done. You can refresh online and see your payment deducted and then what I did, I logged into Costco and verified the payment was applied and my balance was reduced. It doesn't update to Costco immediately but it was within a few hours. DO IT - you'll be fine!!! :goodvibes

Yes, I was thinking I could cash in each time I earn $20 and then get that card and apply it towards the cruise balance. I always prepay gratuities and since this Norway cruise is a *big* cruise where we will be doing excursions I would love to at least front load about half so I'm not dragging gift cards with me to Europe and keeping up with them. I guess I could call and ask the DCL number and see if I'm able to create a credit balance to pre-pay for the other gratuities? I would think if you can do it with "normal" Disney gift cards you should be able to with the DV account since it reads to them as a gift card, right? I guess I would just need to tell them to ear mark it for my on board account, not the cruise once I get to that point. I could try for my December Wonder cruise and see what happens?

This Office Depot/Sears adventure has me excited but I think I'm too chicken to try it, only because I would have no use for Sears or Kmart if I was "stuck" with them. I'd love to hear what others have to say throughout the day today though.

Calling Sears doesn't help too much because I was even standing in Sears and they told me they didn't have Disney gift cards. I found them myself on a rack with 50 other types of gift cards separate from the other gift cards in the store. Go into the store and physicslly check. They have a big display with many gift cards on it. It was in front of the escalator when I found it. Also, you can sell the gift cards for what you pay for them. Also, buy gas gift cards and amazon gift cards.

I just bought Sears gift cards at Offiec Max. The only way to get $20 off per $100 was to buy 3 separate $100 gift cards in 3 separate transactions. When I tried to do 1 card of $500 only $20 came off the bill.

Also the sign in the store said today was the last day for the sale.

Thanks to all for posting this deal. It is very much appreciated.

On my way to check Office Depot and Sears. I'm in the Dallas area, I'll let y'all know what I find.

What does "coupon only" mean at Ebates for Raise.com? Does it mean you must have a "coupon code" to get cash back? thanks

My Kmart didn't have any Disney gift cards but I still bought the Sears gift card at Office Depot. My Office Depot did not have a sign and even the manager didn't know about the $20 off $100. The cashier said someone called earlier and he told them they weren't doing that promo, but they are. So if you are in the Lexington KY area and you called and were told no you were told wrong. I did have to pay with cash though. I may go buy another one. If nothing else I'll use them at Christmas.

Anyone had luck using a credit card to pay for the Sears gift cards?

So, does the credit card terminal deny your transaction when you swipe your card? Or did you just give your credit card to the cashier and they told you you couldn't pay with a credit card?

I will reiterate this. I just called Sears and they said they didn't have any. Went in myself, found 9 $25 disney gift cards and 9 $50 disney gift cards on the rack by the escalator.

Cashier told me I could only use cash. The register kept saying something about the terminal, but I couldn't read it.

I was able to use a credit card - no problems!

Sooo . . . we have 2 local Office Depot stores. One was completely sold out of Sears cards. The 2nd store only had 3 left. I bought those and went right to Sears. Bought the Disney gift cards with no issues. We figured, if we were "stuck" with Sears gift cards, we would use them eventually at Kmart for food, staples, and such. So, we didn't worry about that risk too much. This is such a great strategy. Wish I didn't come so late to this party when only 3 cards were left.

I didn't realize Office Max was participating. Maybe I'll go by there tonight.

Today is in fact the last day of this promo!

I was able to use my Amex card to pay for the Sears gift cards at Office Depot without any problem. After going to one OfficeMax and four Office Depot stores, I finally found a store that had a few of the Sears gift cards left. I was so happy to find them that I forgot I needed to do separate transactions. it was only showing $20 off for all three cards combined. Once I noticed that, the cashier backed out two of the cards and did three separate transactions.

Once I was in the car, I verified that each of the cards had been activated and had a balance of $100 before stopping off at K-Mart, which was on my way home. They had $25 Disney gift cards, so I collected 12 of them plus an inexpensive t-shirt to kind of distract from the fact that I was buying gift cards with gift cards. The cashier had a difficult time scanning the gift cards to get them activated. When it cam time to pay, I scanned the first Sears gift card confidently, but it didn't work. When the cashier saw my Sears gift card he said that I could pay for gift cards with gift cards. I told him I had to cancel the transaction. He had to call over a customer service supervisor to void the transaction. The funny thing is, I had the t-shirt that I should have been able to buy with the gift card, so I'm really not sure what happened.

Next stop was Sears where I checked two registers but didn't see any Disney gift cards. I asked the cashier and she said they didn't carry them. After reading the posts above about being told they didn't have them, but finding them on a larger display, I'm going to head back at some point and search the store. I just don't want to get stuck with $300 in Sears gift cards. As a last resort I'll use them to replace our garage door opener. I wasn't planning on doing that now and wasn't necessarily going to get it at Sears. It was definitely more fun to save 20% on the gift cards knowing I was using them for our vacation rather than a home repair, but at least I won't be out the money.

Just went to Office Depot today and got $600 in gift cards for Sears. The cashier was really nice and let us do 6 transactions. He would have let us do more if we had wanted. $120 saved! Haven't bought the Disney Gift cards yet but will try Tuesday at our local Kmart. There was no sign for the sale at the Office Depot. I used a credit card for all transactions. After a couple, he had to see the credit card and enter the last 4 digits as a safety check, so if it doesn't work for multiple, just have them enter the credit card verification.

Well, you snooze you lose. I wish I had jumped on this earlier. ALL the Office Depots in a 100 mile radius of me are sold out. I must have called a dozen of them.

Stopped at 2 Sears stores to check if they had the disney cards...one did not, second one did, but only a few. Stopped at 5 Office Depot/Max stores, came out with only 3 Sears cards....they made me pay cash. On my way to a 3rd Sears and a 6th Office Depot. My hubby thinks we're spending more money driving around the DFW metroplex than we're gonna save. He's such a Debbie Downer.

Same here! I bought $1,000 worth of Sears gift cards with credit cards. Now, watch me get stuck with these if Sears and/or Kmart won't let me use them towards Disney Gift cards!
