What was your experience like paying through the TA for a cruise? Someone else here reported that her TA had to conference DCL in to have her give the DVA # directly to DCL. Was this your experience? We're planning to give this a shot, but I'm a little nervous since others have reported having issues paying through their TA. Curious to know what your experience was like. We use Costco.

Thanks!

Jodie

I used DU's online form. Just filled in the DVA account in the gift card box and that was it. Same when I went to add onboard credit to my cruise account. Never had to talk to anyone :thumbsup2

Are you talking about me?? :) :rotfl2: Recently, I just called the DCL number specified for the DV account at 1-800-511-9333 and told the CM that I wanted to apply a payment to my cruise from my DV account and provided her the info and was done in like 1 minute. I didn't even bother calling Costco as there wasn't a need to. Let me know what happens when you try but I think they are getting the "hang" of it now :)

For those that have earned your $20 bonus cards - just curious - do you request them each time you earn a $20 or are you saving them up? Would there be any issues with requesting a $20 each time it's earned? I haven't decided what I'm going to do but part of me wanted to request them each time as I can use the $20 to go back into the actual cruise payment. I guess I could save them up after paying off the cruise and still use my $140ish I'll earn towards my on board account so I don't have to bring the gift cards with me.

Also - has anyone used the DV account to book a cruise onboard? I'm assuming if you needed to cancel it, the funds would be credited back to the DV account and not to each gift card, is that correct? I know to save each and every gift card but was just curious.

Yes! I was talking about you!! Were your ears burning??? :goodvibes

Can you tell I'm a little nervous about doing this??

I'm surprised DCL would take your payment if you booked via Costco? I guess they realize that Costco would have to call them anyway. Glad to know it was easy. Please report back with updates if you have them.

Confused about your question . . . how would you not have to bring the $140 in gift cards with you? Are you thinking you would apply each $20 bonus back to the DVA and then pay toward your onboard account with the DVA when you pay off your cruise??? Can you do this? Didn't know you could load your onboard account from the DVA. Am I misunderstanding????

Here is a major money saver. Office Depot has $100 Sears gift cards for $80. You can buy three at a time. Sears sells Disney gift cards. I did the transaction today and was able to use 3 sears gift cards to buy $300 worth of Disney gift cards. That's 20% off plus whatever rewards cards you use at Office Depot. Some sears may not let you buy gift cards with a gift card. Sears has other gift cards as well such as BP. Saving 20% on gas is awesome! This deal is on until the 18th. Have fun!:cool1:

Is this deal advertised anywhere because I did not see it in their weekly ad. Do you need a coupon? Thanks for sharing!

At my Office Depot there is a yellow placard next to the gift cards. No coupon needed. Limit 3 x $100 (separate purchases), but I bet you could get more if the clerk does not know that.

Can go to multiple stores and also repeat tomorrow.

Have you also had luck using these Sears gift cards to buy Disney gift cards at a Sears store?
Thanks.

I just called my local Sears store, and they said you CANNOT use a Sears gift card to purchase a Disney gift card. Bummer!

Thanks for the update! I don't want to be stuck with a bunch of Sears gift cards.

Try K-Mart. Don't call, just go in. I have used Sears GCs to buy both Shell and Amazon GCs at my K-Mart within the last 2 weeks.

Lots of times the store policy may be one thing, but the registers will allow it, so give it a try.

This Office Depot Sears Disney thing is an AWESOME money saver!!! I just got 1600 worth of Disney gift cards (would have gotten more but cleaned them out of all the Sears cards they had). No Disney cards at Sears, but they DID have at KMart. No problems paying for the Disney cards with the Sears card. I was nervous though and only bought 200.00 worth in case it wouldn't work. But after it did I hightailed it back to Office Depot to grab more Sears cards.

When they ran out, they suggested maybe check Office Max since they just merged. They didn't have any Sears cards so not sure if it would have worked or not.

Before I found the Disney cards at KMart, I contemplated getting Visa cards with the 5.95 service fee. It still would have been almost 15% saving even with that service charge. Also thought about getting amazon to use to ship groceries through Prime Pantry. Luckily I didn't need to, but if anyone finds there aren't any or enough Disney cards, think about other options like that.

I'm so grateful to the people on this board and the person who told us about this amazing deal!!

When all was said and done, I saved $320 in cold hard cash, got three 30 cent gas vouchers, and whatever other KMart rewards from racking up points. Never shopped there enough before, so I'll have to learn what that might mean. If only it didn't require cash payment at Office Depot, I would have loved the Chase Visa reward, too :-)

$320! That's BBB, Pick a Pearl, DisneyQuest, and some extra splurges that just weren't in the budget before-soooooo excited!!

Traveling tomorrow and plan to stop at all the Office Deoots en route to see if I can snatch up some more :-). Ok, I'm off to enter all these gift cards in my new DVA!

Thanks everyone!!!

Ive been trying to do just this for over a week now! Actually Ive been trying to order them online, but the problem there is it sends you to Gift Card Mall and it doesnt accept the Sears Card. Ive called and they tried so much to get them ordered for me and it just wasnt working. I dont live near a Kmart, but have called all in our area, they all have less than $500 in gc. Im wanting $5000. We have a sears card and no sears anymore, so thought this would be a quick way to finance our next vacation and it allows us to build up points to cash in on more gift cards! The closest store to me has offered to contact corporate and see if they will allow her to order the amount I need. And today I got a mailing that offered 60 months interest free on all purchases over $300! I dont need 60 months, but 6-12 would be great! So, hopefully I know something next week, hoping this works out as I need to pay off our vacation in just a few weeks!

Do not call. That's the quickest way to ruin a great deal. Also, don't believe anything a store rep tells you over the phone. Sears has a long and well documented history of allowing the purchase of gift cards with gift cards.

I don't believe Sears will allow you to purchase Visa, MasterCard, or American Express cards with gift cards.

Does anyone know if the Disney GC's can be used to pay room charges, and if so, are you limited to the number you can apply?

Thanks!

Yes, you can pay your room charges off by using Disney GCs. Some CMs know how to apply them so that you have a credit on your account. Others will only take enough GCs to cover the current charges on your room account.

Do not buy Disney gift cards from Sam's Club. Not only do they fraudulently misrepresent that they are in stock (when they haven't been for weeks), but it took me 4 hours over the last seven days to get them to admit that they didn't have them and they won't refund my money for 10 business days. They also wouldn't let me exchange the 3 pack for the single cards that they are saying are in stock. If I want them, I have to place a new order and give them more money, but they won't guarantee a shipping date.

Buying with a credit card is a variable thing depending on the cashier. I was able go buy all my gift cards at office depot with credit cards. I was also able to use the gift cards to buy the Disney gift cards at Sears. You could just try swiping the card when they give you your total. The system will let it go through. Its all dependent on the cashier.
