Disney Gift Card Deals

Isn't there more than one Sears store in Portland? I would just go to another store and purchase the gift cards away from where they are displayed.

Anyone have any luck using a Sears gift card to buy Disney Gift Cards at a Kmart or Sears in Utah?

Also, can you just swipe them at the register, or do you have to give them to the cashier? I tried swiping mine, but it came up with the choose credit or debit. I chose debit and then entered the pin on the back of the gift card. It didn't work, and I had to give the card to the cashier. She said that she didn't think that you could buy a gift card with a gift card (but she didn't care because the store was closing so she let me do it, but I don't think she would have let me do a larger amount than the one I bought).

Did you use your sears credit card, or the sears gc purchased at a discount like others mentioned?

It seems that gift card purchases do not give you SYW points, according to the terms of service: http://www.shopyourway.com/sywr-terms-of-service.
That also states you cannot use points for purchasing gift cards.

I used my Sears credit card at a kmart to purchase the Disney gift cards. Im not worried really about the rewards, it just would be a nice bonus. Like I said earlier, we dont have a Sears or Kmart locally anymore and had credit cards to Sears we were going to toss as there was no balance on them. I realized we could purchase WDW giftcards to pay off our balance and get a zero interest deal for quite some time. I only need a few months, but this allows me plenty of time to pay off the balance before interest hits.

We tried that yesterday, drove out to another Sears 30 miles from home, but they didn't have any Disney gift cards at all and we searched the entire store.

There's one other option, but it's not in the best of areas, so I'm not too inclined to make the 30 mile round trip drive. If I do, I'll definitely try your suggestion about going to a register away from the gift cards. I was thinking about maybe the home and garden area, or even the major appliance area since they seem very eager to provide customer service.

I didn't get in on this deal but I have used Sears GCs to buy other cards at Sears. I've never seen Disney cards at the Sears here in Houston though :confused3. I'm guessing they had a ton of people doing this and thats why they started paying closer attention and shut it down. I would let things settle down and then try again. Also, I always go when it's busier and look for cashiers that look like they're in high school. I don't let them see the card, just swipe.

I know it's frustrating but next time if they say no just say thanks and leave, try again another time. Hopefully the next time it will work. Good luck!

Thanks. That's good advice. The store was very empty so I may try another time. We have over a year until our trip so there's no rush.

There's a deal for certain American Express cards to get an extra 2% back at Whole Foods until Feb 15. My Blue Cash preferred card is eligible so I'd get 8% cash back there. Does anyone know if WF sells Disney Gift Cards? I figured it's a long shot but you never know.

We asked her why. She said it was to prevent people from buying gift cards with a Sears gift card that might have been purchased with a stolen credit card, which makes absolutely no sense to me at all.

The reason for this is if they use a stolen credit card to buy a gift card, once the fraud is discovered, they can reverse the transaction and cancel the gift card if it hasn't been used yet.

So criminals have figured out to quickly buy one gift card, and then shortly after use it to buy a different gift card. It can be hard to track it down that far and they are more likely to get away with usable cards.

So many stores now don't allow gift cards to be purchased with other gift cards.

unless you have the receipt with the GCs and ID, etc.

Sorry. Whole Foods only sells Whole Foods gift cards.

Thanks for posting this. I had not heard about this deal (which is odd cause I have 2 Amex Blue cards???). Signed up right away. I don't buy a lot at Whole Foods, but with their high prices, I'll take a discount when I can get it. Thanks again!

Just bought my Disneyland Tickets for our Nov. trip! Thanks for posting the $20 off $100 Sears gift cards at Office Depot earlier this month. I bought the Sears gift cards, found a Sears that let me buy Disney Gift Cards, and then consolidated them all into my Disney Vacation Account. Used my DVA account number in the Disney Gift Card box at checkout for Conference tickets and got an extra 20% off (from the gift card savings) the already 15% savings from the conference!

That made it a 32% savings on park tickets. I love all the tips you all give on this board! Couldn't have done it without you! :cheer2: Thanks!

I noticed at CVS the other day that they sell Disney Giftcards. I rack up discover points with my discover card and purchased a $50 CVS gc from Discover using $40 rewards (20% discount). So already I have $10 off... And usually on Black Friday CVS runs deals where if you buy so much $ in giftcards you get ECBs or something else. So I'm going to wait until BF to use mine and see if not only do I get $10 off by using Discover rewards, but some free ECBs from CVS. Seems like a great idea to me...

I have never tried it, but I thought that you could not use CVS gift cards to buy other gift cards.

I have asked at 3 different CVS stores and they all said no to purchasing other gift cards with CVS gift cards. Sorry, I don't think this will work. I would love to be wrong though.

I haven't read this whole thread. I have a Discover card and I was checking my statement online. I had made a Staples purchase, last week, and there was a link, under that purchase on the statement, that offered the ability to use my Discover Rewards to purchase a $25.00 Staples gift card for $20.00 of my Rewards credit. I have enough Rewards credit to purchase two Staples gifts cards through this offer ($50.00 total for $40.00 credit).

Now, after that lengthy explanation, (1) does Staples sell Disney gift cards and (2) does Staples allow you to purchase gift cards with Staples gift cards? If anyone knows, thank you in advance.

Hey guys! First post (lots of lurking). Wanted to let you all know that the Disney Gift cards 3 packs seem to be back in stock at Samsclub.com $150 worth of cards for $143, so about 4.5% off. Trying to decide if I should go ahead and buy or hope for a better deal come Black Friday.

You can go thru topcashback, click thru to cardpool, and purchase Walmart gift cards for sometimes 2-3% off, get cash back from topcashback, and use the Walmart gift cards to purchase your Disney gift cards at samsclub.com. Typically makes for about 10%-11% discount total.

Thanks! Hmmm...I wonder if I would get the 2% cash back from Sam's Club if I go through MrRebates or Ebates. It doesn't say anything about excluding gift cards, but I don't know....

Anyone ever use gift cards.com? It looks like they have merchandise-only cards for 10% off. Not for use in parks, but maybe for stocking up on pre-trip goodies? And generally for Disney Store merchandise. Also, possibly they would be good for Disney stores at Disney? Just not resorts, restaurants, etc. anyone know?
