Disney Every Day - Update 10/21 – 1, 2, 3! We’re Leaving for Orlando Tomorrow!

Erin, glad to read the update. Good riddance to Captain America. Sending pixie dust that the new guy deserved you. He sounds lovely! Congrats on the new responsibilities at work! Can't wait to read the details when you've got them on the new trip! Hugs!

No wonder I missed this incredibly news-filled post of yours.....you posted while I was in the Disney bubble. Sorry it's taken me soooo long to notice it. You know I would have responded sooner if I would have read it. Wow.....first of all, like I already said on FB, you needed to do what was financially best for you & the kids. We all understand! Now your work has fixed the situation and hopefully there will be no other issues. In my opinion, your employer should be held accountable for the difference plus some, but that won't happen, I'm sure.

Now, for loser-head: (CA) What a total *ss. Is this the 1950's? I can't believe someone would still feel this way! Oh yes, you definitely don't want that kind of attitude around the kids. OMG that just sets me off!! You couldn't tell, right? :3dglasses: I'm very happy you found Squanto!!! I wish you all the best in the world, but also protect yourself! I'm sure you do, anyways. I believe in you!!

A trip in November sounds nice. You will get excited in time. Hopefully you get the ADR'S you want. Hopefully, I will be starting a new ptr soon and you can read all about my new trip. I'm going to wait until my Photopass pics are in to write this past trip report. Some cute things did happen on the trip like Peter's spinach sundae --- oh just you wait!!!

Anyways, I can't wait to hear from you and see how you're doing!!!

I KNOW A SECRET, I KNOW A SECRET!!!! C'mon there Erin......post already!!! Your fans are waiting for your news!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :dance3: :dance3:

Hi, guys! Yes, I am back! I’m going to try to really be back, anyway! I know I have neglected this PTR. And I know I have neglected you guys! :grouphug: I am so sorry! I have been reading here and there, but I have officially been a lurker for several months! I just haven’t had the time to reply to posts – even though I sometimes am just itching to write something – and I haven’t had anything to update until now! Well, actually, I have been sitting on this since Christmas  I am not going to WDW just yet, but I am taking the kids to Playlist Live! :yay: For those of you who don’t know, it is a convention for YouTube vlogger fans that is held in Orlando once a year! Here’s a link, in case anyone is curious http://playlist-live.com/ It is held in another area now, too, because it is getting more popular, but I never would have known about it if it wasn’t for Ann’s PTR/TR last year (Thanks, Ann! ) Apparently, my kids knew about it, but just didn’t ask if we could go. They thought I wouldn’t want to! Wow! I must really be a stick in the mud these days! :rotfl: Actually, some days, I am able to work from home, and True says she doesn’t like “Work Mom” because I am too boring! She likes “Home Mom” because I do stuff with them! Aww! Sweet, and also very eye-opening. Anyway, I can tell you more about my adventures at work another time! Right now, I have to tell you more about this trip!

So, I asked my kids back in November if they wanted to go to Playlist Live. I was sneaky about it, though. If memory serves, I saw them watching some video on YouTube and I asked them if that person was going to be at Playlist Live. They said he was, and I said something like, “Wouldn’t it be cool to meet him?” They both started talking about the convention and got really excited. Then they asked if they could go, but I just said, “Maybe,” and never spoke of it again. I ordered the tickets and decided to surprise them for Christmas!

I tried to upload the video of the surprise from my phone to YouTube, but I couldn’t do it  Clearly, I couldn’t be a vlogger! :lmao: So I took some screenshots on my phone so that I could share them with you guys. I almost think it represents the story just as well as the video! I’ll probably get my son to help me upload it tonight, so I’ll share it with you guys later. For now, here’s the story:

I gave my kids a card for their last present:

In this next picture, you’ll see something white dropping out of the card

True says, “Gimmie money!” because that was what she thought the paper was! But you will see in the next few pictures, Coy and True opened up the piece of paper and were so thrilled to see what it said: You are going to Playlist Live!

Look at the shock on True’s face in this picture!

Coy finally gets to read it:

Coy looks so happy!

I love these smiles!

I have to get the video uploaded because after this, True pounced me and wouldn’t stop hugging me! Coy wanted to hug me, too, but True had me pinned to the sofa!

I waited this long to post because #1 there really wasn’t much to post about and #2 I still had that irrational fear that posting would jinx it! But I am glad that Ann encouraged me to post and give you all the details! So, we are not going to WDW, but I don’t know how we are going to be RIGHT THERE and not go! We are staying at Pop from Thursday, March 20th to Monday, March 24th! Thanks right! Our trip is TEN DAYS AWAY!!! Since I could only get three days off from work and the convention takes up most of Saturday and Sunday, we aren’t doing any park days. I considered doing two-day hoppers, but I was worried that the kids and I might have a disappointing experience with so little time, so I decided against it. I talked to the kids to make sure that they were OK with it, and they were fine because the most important thing was going to the convention :goodvibes Coy even said that this would give us a chance to see what else there is to do in Orlando! What a mature kid! More mature than me, anyway, because I really want to go to The World! :lmao: I know we are going to have a great time at the con, though, and exploring Orlando is something I haven’t done since I was a kid! So, I’ll be back to update more about this trip soon (I promise!) and we’ll see what there is to do when planning a trip without the mouse!

Now, I am going to do something I never do – I have to leave work now so I am going to post without proofreading! Argh! But if I don’t, I will NEVER get this post up! I can edit later ;)

OMG Erin!!!!!!! :cool1: That is so cool!!!!!!!! I'm excited for you but you have to go again next year b/c that's when we are going! :lmao:

I can't wait to hear more, you must take MANY photos and Savannah says you aren't allowed to do a trip report without photos of Tyler Oakley. MANY. ;)

You forgot the most important thing.......WE ARE HAVING A MEETUP!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm glad you posted because I really wanted to tell, but it was your news to share and I wasn't going to rain on your parade. This is soooo freaking awesome!!!

Hi, Guys! I have a lot of replies to get to – both from new comments and old – but I wanted to share the video of the surprise with you guys first. I actually did upload it successfully! I just didn’t get a conformation email about it until I was on my way home. In this video, you can see the real reactions from my kids :) We were at my brother’s house for Christmas and I saved the surprise for them to open up for their last gift:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7xzffYl3gE&feature=em-upload_owner#action=share
If you clicked on that link, you just saw True attacking me with hugs and you heard Coy’s super deep voice as he explained to his uncles and aunts what Playlist Live was! They are still at that same level of excitement! We’ll be on the road in six days! Five and a half days if I can’t contain my excitement enough to wait to leave until the morning :lmao:

OK, on to the most recent replies:

OMG Erin!!!!!!! :cool1: That is so cool!!!!!!!! I'm excited for you but you have to go again next year b/c that's when we are going! :lmao:

:rotfl: I texted my kids “What is a Tyler Oakley?” and they both LOLed! I’ve actually heard True talk about him, too, so I had a vague idea. True promised to get lots and lots of pictures of him :thumbsup2 I have a feeling I might be creating monsters here, because the kids are super excited about this con, and they are already talking about going to Awesomecon and Minecraftcon. So, I am sure they will want to go to Playlist Live again next year! If not, I’ll drag them along with me! It is so cool you will be going, too!

You forgot the most important thing.......WE ARE HAVING A MEETUP!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm glad you posted because I really wanted to tell, but it was your news to share and I wasn't going to rain on your parade. This is soooo freaking awesome!!!
Yes, I finally get to meet my buddy, Ann! I am so happy! Especially since I had to cancel my trip last year at the last minute and couldn’t meet you then. So I am super duper excited to finally get to meet you IRL! Anyway, I am glad that you posted when you did. Otherwise, I might not have been posting until today! And that’s not cool! I would have been OK if you had said something, but it was really sweet of you to keep my secret!

How fun Erin!!! You three will have a blast! :thumbsup2
I can’t wait to go! I think I am almost as excited as the kids are! :lmao: I need to watch YouTube all weekend so I can know all of the “YouTube Famous” people we will be meeting!

OK, so here are the comments from before my post. Oh, and I am sorry that I am not replying individually to the even OLDER ones from the post before that about my sister’s engagement. In a nutshell – yes, she does have a GORGEOUS ring! You guys should see that thing sparkle! She is very happy with the ring and she still talks about the way he proposed! They are not getting married there (that leaves that location open if I ever get married again! ) and they are not honeymooning there. But they are talking about doing the next best US destination – Hawaii! She is very busy planning because they are getting married in the fall of 2015, and she, our other sister, and I are going to a bridal showcase in April. Oh, and True has invited herself to be a bridesmaid! My sister wanted her to be in the wedding anyway, of course, but it was just funny that True just made the assumption that she was in the wedding!

I am sorry about your trip, but hang in there and keep the hope. After Thanksgiving is my favorite time at Disney. I love the Christmas decorations and the cooler weather. Plus the crowds will be lower.
Wowzer, so much going on!! I've already said but I'll say again, a trip without a financial cloud hanging over your head will be MUCH better for you AND the kids! :thumbsup2 And the week after Thanksgiving sounds great- Disney will be all decked out for the holidays. :goodvibes

I'm glad you saw CA's true self before you were in any deeper. It can be so hard to believe that people actually still think this way. :sad2: Yay for meeting someone new though. I hope the only surprises he springs on you are good ones.

And I know you do so much with and for your kids, and not just WDW. They've traveled and will again soon so a trip without them is nothing to feel guilty about.

I'll be back with pics of UO next month so if you're not excited by then maybe I can help. :)
Having to cancel Disney stinks but it happens! Finances blow. They really do. :(

Congrats on the new man Erin! Woot woot! :cool1: I know you will get back to Disney. Don't apologize here at all! There is nothing to be sorry for. Life happens.
Erin, glad to read the update. Good riddance to Captain America. Sending pixie dust that the new guy deserved you. He sounds lovely! Congrats on the new responsibilities at work! Can't wait to read the details when you've got them on the new trip! Hugs!

Thanks to you all for being so supportive and understanding about the trip not working out :grouphug: It was tough having to cancel year after year. Then, when I finally got things on track, I realized I wasn’t on track at all because “Everything turned to doo doo” (that’s a Spongebob Squarepants quote :lmao: ) Seriously, though, it really sucked, but the alternative was digging myself into a hole for a vacation. That wouldn’t have worked for me. I can see that now. Well, I could see that then, too, but I sure was mad about it! Things happen for a reason, though. I am better off financially now, and that is of the utmost importance since I am a single mom :thumbsup2 So, when we do get back to Disney for a real trip, it’ll be that much sweeter!

Yes, Captain America was such a jerk! I am so glad I realized that before I got in too deep with him. Of course, he tried to get back with me by saying that he changed his mind, and he knew know that women were capable of doing things men could do. But in the same conversation, I brought up something about women running for office to see if that would push his sexist button. You know what? It did! :lmao: He couldn’t help himself from going back into the same nonsense and showing his true colors! Don’t try to fool me into thinking you were somehow enlightened, dude! ;)

So, I’m still seeing Squanto. It’s been about 9 months or so. We have a lot of fun together and we have a lot in common. So much so that he gets on my nerves sometimes! :rotfl2: But, I am sure I get on his nerves, too! He and I had a good time in Puerto Rico! I’ll have to post some pictures. Who am I kidding? It is hard enough for me to get this reply out!

Work has been very good, too. I had to travel a lot in October and it paid off because I was promoted to manager! So, I have been extremely busy at work. I love my job, though, and I am so happy that it gave me the opportunity to travel to Vancouver, BC, St. Louis, and LA! My kids weren’t happy I was gone so much that month, and neither was I, but I don’t have to travel that much this year. Except for on vacations! I had a temp in here to help me over the holidays, and we just hired a full time person, so I will be able to take advantage of flex days this summer and take my kids out of town on little weekend getaways! I also have a Disney trip in the works, but I haven’t made any concrete plans yet. All I know is that I want to go in October for the Food and Wine festival :goodvibes So I will start planning that once we get back from Orlando.

I KNOW A SECRET, I KNOW A SECRET!!!! C'mon there Erin......post already!!! Your fans are waiting for your news!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :dance3: :dance3:

Seriously, you guys have to thank Ann for the above post because I would have put off posting about this trip FOREVER. Really, I might not have posted at all! :lmao:

WHAT?!?!? Ann, you cannot know a secret before me, it's not fair!
:rotfl2:

We’re back from Playlist Live! Actually, we got back on Monday night. It was a fantastic trip, and we got a little bit of Disney sprinkled in every day :) Hey! That goes along with the title of this PTR! :lmao: Disney Every Day! I wish we got to go to the parks, but we actually had a blast seeing what Orlando had to offer other than that. I’m going to write up a mini TR for this trip on this PTR… then I think it is time to end this sucker! This PTR has been going on long enough – but I did finally get a trip out of it! Well, kinda sorta :rolleyes I think it is time for a brand new PTR! So that will be coming up after I finish up the Mini TR on here :yay: I’ll tell you all about the YouTube celebs that we met, how we incorporated a little Disney into the trip, and – most importantly – how I finally got to meet my buddy, Ann! So stay tuned!

I am DYING to hear all about it! Savannah & were stalking all sites that people discussed last weekend, trying to get tips and see how everything went! I heard there were some crazy lines and people were turned away, so I'm dying to hear how you and Ann did!

DYING!

LIKE NOW!!!!! ;)

:lmao:

Hey Erin,

Looking forward to reading about playlist live! Are there really other things in Orlando besides Disney? ;)

I hope I can give you some good tips, Karen! We had SO MUCH fun, but the crowds were a lot to deal with – screaming girls were everywhere! :lmao: Sorry I’ve made you wait almost two weeks!

Hey Erin,

Looking forward to reading about playlist live! Are there really other things in Orlando besides Disney? ;)

Hi, Patricia! Believe it or not, there are other things to do in Orlando! Oops! I think I gave something away! ;)

Erin...don't make me stalk you. ;)

:rotfl: You had to stalk me on Facebook to get me on the DIS! I’m terrible! I’m here now and my boss is in a meeting, so maybe I can actually get something posted today :thumbsup2

I could give your her cell number and you can really stalk her then!!!! :rotfl2:

:lmao: Maybe you should give her my cell# Then you can both send me texts to remind me to update!

Hi, guys! Typical me, I haven’t been on the boards in weeks! OK, I am going to be better at this! I am convincing myself of that! :thumbsup2 So, do you want to hear all about Playlist Live and what else there is to do in Orlando besides going to The World?!?

Of course, we have to start off with the road trip! I know that I told myself that I was never going to do a road trip to Orlando again, if I could help it. Well, so much for that! It’s not that I don’t love taking road trips with my kids – I totally do – but Orlando from Northern Virginia is a 12 hour trip without counting the rest stops! Plus, I knew I would have to drive straight through both ways because I didn’t have the luxury of taking an extra day off from work on either end of my trip. Did I tell you guys that my job is crazy? Yeah, it is SO crazy! I’m busy all of the time and I am usually exhausted by the time I get home, but I love it! So, yeah, I really deserved this trip. I knew that I could push through and drive since it meant that the kids and I would be able to have a fun road trip and an awesome vacay! Plus, since I didn’t have to worry about being rested to tackle a day at the parks, a road trip should be easy peasy. Right? RIGHT??? :lmao: Well, it actually was good… once we got on the road…

My plan was to get in bed by 7pm on the day before we left for the trip. We were supposed to leave at 4am at the latest. The bags were packed, and the cooler was packed with everything but the perishable stuff like lunch meat. My magnificent daughter, True, spent the afternoon making “snack packs” for the trip. She put pretzels and chips in little sandwich bags, and then packed those into larger sandwich bags along with a string cheese and a GoGurt. I think she made 12 in all. She’s a planner, like her mom ;) So those were all stuffed in the fridge and ready to get packed in the cooler when we left. Well, I was planning on leaving work early, but I got held up, so I got stuck in miserable traffic. One of the very few things I dislike about living in Northern Virginia is the traffic! Ugh! So, I didn’t get in bed until well after 10pm. No way was I going to be able to wake up at 3am to be able to leave by 4am. I had to be able to stay awake for the drive! I told the kids I would wake up at 5am and we would hit the road by 6am.

I got up at 5am, but I couldn’t make myself get out of bed until 6, and – long story short – we didn’t leave until after 7 :sad2:  The best laid plans… Oh well! We packed up the car and the cooler, and made our way… to WalMart! Yeah, I needed to grab a bag of ice and something for breakfast. Believe me, we ate up all of those snack packs that True made, but I couldn’t imagine eating pretzels and string cheese for breakfast! Nope! True and Coy poured the ice into our cooler and I topped off the gas tank. I always have to start a road trip with a full tank of gas! According to Facebook, I posted this picture on Instagram a little after 8am:

So, we were four hours off schedule, but that was OK. I needed to know I could make the drive safely without stopping, so leaving late was the only option. The first few hours of the trip were a blur. Coy and True started playing the ABC game and insisted that I join in. The ABC game is when you name a category and each person takes a turn naming something from that category in alphabetical order. So, if the category is fruit, Coy might start off with “apple”, then True might say, “banana”, then I might say, “cantaloupe” then it would go around and around like that. It seems like a really silly game, but it is a lot of fun! Especially when you get to letters like J or X or Z! We play this game a lot  Anyway, we played a lot of little word games like that until Coy fell asleep in the back seat.

You know, Virginia is a BIG state! It took us forever to finally get to North Carolina! It had been about four hours when True and I decided we needed a potty break! We stopped in Fayetteville and the temperature was about 20 degrees warmer than it was that morning in Virginia! If I remember correctly, it was about 65 degrees when we stopped at about noon. But, boy, were the kids and I a sight! We all had on long sleeved shirts and we all had on jackets! Luckily, I brought two light sweaters for me and True to wear once we got to a warmer climate, but Coy refused to take off his coat even though he had on a nice thick sweatshirt underneath! Oh, and I wasn’t really much better because I was wearing fur lined duck boots! Yeah, I could have changed into my other shoes, but I had to go to the bathroom so bad that I couldn’t be bothered with that right then! :rotfl: So, we went into a store to use the bathroom. Coy regretted wearing the coat because he was worried that the ladies at the cash registers thought he was stealing! They weren’t even paying attention to Coy, but he felt very self-conscious!

After we left the store, we pulled over to a parking lot where I took this picture of the trees in bloom:

I was loving it because the weather was warm, the trees smelled amazing, and I hadn’t seen a blooming tree in a LONG time in Virginia. They are starting to bloom now, but it was a special treat to see springtime a little earlier in a different state. While we were in the parking lot, I made sandwiches for us – ham and salami on a tortilla, with ranch dressing. Oh, they were so good! And fast because we didn’t have to go to a restaurant to get something to eat! The wraps went well with True’s snack packs! Although, I do have to say that GoGurt is a good thing for kids to eat yogurt on the go, but it is hard for me to coordinate squeezing the yogurt out of the tube while I’m driving!

We went another four hours or so before we had to stop for gas. As always, we stopped in Savannah, GA. One of these days, the kids and I are going to spend some time there, rather than just making it a pit stop! I haven’t spent more than a night in Savannah since before I even had kids! So it will be nice when we do make it down there for a real visit. When we stopped, the kids spotted a frozen yogurt place in the shopping center called Lovin’ Spoons. Frozen Yogurt places are popping up all over NoVA, like Sweet Frog. Is anyone familiar with that place? Basically, Sweet Frog and Lovin’ Spoons are self-serve yogurt places where you pour your own soft serve yogurt and then top it with just about anything you can think of. Now that I think about it, the kids had a LOT of yogurt that day! Well, frozen yogurt is more like ice cream, but still! So the kids went in and got a little treat. So much for not stopping to eat! :rotfl:

Since the kids got a treat, I thought I deserved one, too! Thankfully, there was a drive-thru Starbucks in the shopping center! I got a caramel Frappuccino that True promptly grabbed so that she could have a sip!

After my daughter was nice enough to let me have my cold, caffeinated beverage back, we got back on the road. Oh, and some of you might remember that I cut back on the caffeine a few years ago because it was giving me panic attacks. Well, it still does that  but decaf is OK. I asked for a decaf caramel Frappuccino and they said they didn’t have decaf, which is weird because the Starbucks by my job gives me decaf when I order a caramel Frappuccino. At least, they say they do! The Starbucks in Savannah said that the caramel Frappuccino is more like an ice cream drink and doesn’t have much caffeine, so I believed them. No panic attack on the rest of the drive to Orlando, so I guess they were right. I had just enough caffeine to be able to push through the final leg of the trip! I just thought I would mention that in case anyone else has issues with caffeine – or in case someone wants a truly caffeinated beverage, because a Frappuccino isn’t one! The more you know! :rotfl:

Anyway! After another four hours on the road, we were finally at Pop!!!

I wish I had gotten some pictures of the entrance to Disney World, but I didn’t. Actually, Coy and I attempted to take a few pictures with my phone as we drove under the sign, but we just wanted to get to Pop to check in! I feel like a bad DISer because I didn’t take many pictures of the exterior of Pop at all! I took even less of our room! Each night, the kids and I said that we would take pictures of the room the next day. Well, that never happened! Oh well, I guess that means we have to go back! ;) The kids and I were enjoying ourselves so much that we forgot to take pictures of some things. But there are a lot of pictures from Playlist Live! A LOT!

All in all, the road trip to Orlando was a lot of fun. The kids and I enjoyed talking and playing silly games, we ate well, and no one had a meltdown! :lmao: Would I drive to Orlando again? Now that the kids are older, they are even better travelling buddies, so I will say, “Yes!” Plus, in a year, Coy will be able to drive, too!

So you’ll have to stay tuned to see what happens next! Did we get a good room with a nice view? Did we get towel animals? Where did we eat dinner that night? What did we do the next day? Did we visit any popular haunts?

Yay!!! That is ALMOST enough to convince me to drive...but then I think about how my drive is 17 hours and that's if we have no issues. When we drove it took 21 STRAIGHT hours to get back b/c we were having engine trouble and it was the middle of the night. I swore I would never drive again.

I cannot wait to hear all about it. It probably won't help me a ton since they are moving it for next year and changing a lot of things since they had so many issues, but I love to hear the little details of how things worked. Did you get a parent pass? I'm unsure if I want one, Savannah and her two friends will be 14, 14, and 16...I'm not sure I need to be with them every moment.

Anyway, I'm reading and waiting for more!! Don't leave me hanging Erin. ;)

Yay!!! She's posted! She's posted!!!! :cool1: So, what section were you put in? What room? Just curious.

Hey Karen, I beat you to her post!!! ;)

oh shoot........you posted right before I did......grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!
