Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Hi Rebecca,
Is Discovery Cove a theme park in Orlando? Sorry but I have not heard of
this one. Have you done a swim with Dolphins before? Very brave of you!
We planned on visiting the stingrays last time but never made it over there.
It's hard for me to plan excursions when I am so tired from work. All I can
picture is sitting on a lounge chair!

Well at least it is not snowing here for the moment. Besides the usual
laundry and chores, I am looking forward to doing a little scrapbooking
this weekend. Anyone have big plans?

It's most definitely a weekend full of big plans for us. Actually, I think it is just a very full Saturday.

The morning starts off with a basketball game (DH is the coach and twin DSs are on the team). Since this happens to be the last game of the season, there is also a party/trophy presentation to attend at lunchtime. After that I have to get my oldest DS to robotics class. The rest of our afternoon involves a divide and conquer strategy. DH is headed to announce a baseball tournament at the University of Texas Arlington, while the boys and I head to set up a Cub Scout banquet (I am the den leader) at church. Then we all get to meet back up to actually attend the banquet and clean up.

Other than church, my only plans for Sunday are to recover.

Hi everyone! Just home from our 4 Night Cruise on the Dream! It is definitely a gorgeous ship, but HUGE!!!! If you have any particular questions, please ask here (or send me a PM if you would like.) Also, if you are curious of things and want to see if we took pictures I can check and see!

Bring on the questions! :)

Thanks,

Scott

Yay- glad you are back! I can't wait to see pictures! Did you have an inside cabin? If so, I would love to know more about it- the virtual porthole, the size, etc. :cool1:

Hi Rose! You bring up some good points! Of course the no housework and no cooking is tops! Meeting new cruising buddies...I do hope some of us actually meet. I did the FE on my last cruise, but I guess I didn't make friends enough on line before because there wasn't really a meet on the cruise. Will we be meeting at some time? I understand there is not so much time on a 5 day cruise too....
Pink champagne? Oh, good idea. How did I miss that on the Magic? Is it just available on the dinner menu?
Enchanted art...read about this somewhere, also saw the little video on the Disney app. It sounds very cool.
Aquaduck...well I hope DS goes on it and reports back. I have never liked water slides so I think I will sit this one out.
Shows, must see a show. Not DH's favorite so sometime we skip them.
Drinks of the day...in the lounges? or at dinner? I think we drank too
much wine last cruise, I think I'll go more fruity tropical drink this time!

Ewineme- Mixology class sounds fun. We did two wine tasting classes on the Magic. They were great. It is too much to drink, but I bet they just charge
per person, not per set of drinks.

So much to do, I already want to do another cruise and I haven't gone on this one yet! I have got the bug!

PS. Hoping we will see the new Pirates of the Carribean movie on board! I know other people have mentioned this, maybe in this thread. Has anyone read news about this possibly happening?

I'm sure we'll plan a meet up:thumbsup2
And every group I've been with always does a group photo too.
No one has made that plan yet though, usually it's either early afternoon the first day, before the sail away party or the next day early.
Somewhere by a pool or in a lounge.

I don't believe there was a pink champagne on the other cruises, just the standard Disney one. But since they built the new lounge called PINK, voila!

And I'll bet for sure the POC will be shown on our cruise, but it seems like only once on my 4 other cruises did we have time to see a movie, so much more to do!:yay:

Trip report with pictures?

Discovery Cove is a park in Orlando owned by Sea World. It is park that limits admission daily to around 1,000 people and you can purchase admission with or without a dolphin swim. They have an aviary, a snorkeling reef, stingray pool, lazy river, beach area, etc. and it all-inclusive so they provide food/drink all day, animal safe sunscreen, wet suits, etc.. It is quite pricey but it looks so beautiful and I think it will be a good alternative for us. The website is www.discoverycove.com

Okay I know I have issues but I know people here get those issues! So with that in mind this time, next week, we are under the 100 day mark! Double Digits in sight! WOOO HOOOOO!

I'm looking forward to that 100 day mark, too, Ashman! I've been watching my countdown ticker very closely lately. Remember when we reached the 1 year mark?! It's all so exciting!:yay::yay::banana:

Hey Lynne! We had one of the Cat 5E balconies on this trip (it was huge!) I am hoping to upload our pics today and I will get them on Facebook by tonight! I thought I had us a great server for dinner, but he is going to be off when we are on for his trip home. :( He was great!!!

Talk with you later! :)

Hi Scott! Looking forward to seeing pictures of the 5E Stateroom & Verandah. What stateroom were you in? My daughter & I will be in #5158. Was wondering if your room was aft and whether or not you experienced any of the noise people have been complaining about from Evolution. How did you like Deck 5? Can't wait to see the pictures!

We were in stateroom 5664 (the furthest Aft 5E there is.) We could hear some slight bass from our room of Evolution, but nothing bad at all. It didn't keep us up at all. We loved our Deck 5 room/location. We were a flight up steps from The District. If we had our son with us, all we had to do was go across to the other hallway and walk to the clubs. We were right off the elevator, which was great. It was a low traffic area, so we didn't have any hallway noise. We were an elevator ride away from eating at Cabanas.

Also, I can confirm that you can walk the entire deck 5 on the Port (left) side. There is a hallway from the aft rooms, to the clubs, all the way forward to the Atrium and Buena Vista Theatre. There was a door on the Starboard (right) side that was set with an alarm and always remained closed.

If you have any other questions, please let me know!

Thanks!

Scott :)

P.S. Pics are being loaded to facebook as we speak and I will post the link on here as soon as I am finished!

Great pictures, Scott!! Can't wait to see the Dream in person!
Just wondering if you had any more pictures of the 5E verandah that show how big it really is. Thanks again!

I actually did some videoing of it. I will upload it tomorrow and try to get it to you somehow.

Thanks!

Oh, the lounge called Pink! I feel silly now! Up until now I have not decided if I want to look at all the Dream pictures or be surprised when I get there. I guess I'm going to go look and study! I saw pictures of Pink and it looks fun - they even have the menu posted. Wow, what a selection of champagnes! Thankfully they come by the glass as well.

Thank you Scott. Looking forward to seeing it. I'm just so excited about the extra large verandah that we will have. I so enjoy sitting out on the verandah in the morning to drink my coffee, and also in the evening after a full day and watch the ocean. Of course, I'm sure I will need to make sure I am decently dressed when I do this because of how people above can look down on our verandah.

Weight loss check in. When I set goals this Christmas, I wanted to be under 215 by our cruise and under 200 by the of the year. At my heaviest, I was 253, at Christmas I was 238. Today, I weighed in at 214.2! I am so stoked! My new goal is 200 by the cruise. That is a BHAG but that is what I am gunning for!
