Disney Dream Christening Cruise!! 1-19-11

Two weeks from today we'll be on Castaway Cay!!! How cool is that?!?!

does the Christening Cruise go to Castaway Cay? I understood that this was a "cruise to no where"?. I am so bummed out reading all these posts. I still don't have ANYTHING except my luggage tags.

hopefully next week I will find something out??

It DOES go to Castaway Cay! Yippee!:cool1:

Have you pulled your reservation up online? That is where I found my stateroom assignment. I didn't get anything via mail or e-mail regarding this---just found it when I logged into my reservation. Maybe your stateroom is there as well????

I saw my assignment was also online today, and I am also 5A on deck 10. For the conference I am in a 5B on deck 8.

Not exactly sure what to pack, but Darren did say "resort casual" and typical cruisewear. Weather is so iffy - tough to guage what to pack for the kids.

I don't have a reservation number so I can't log in to see any info. My DH keeps telling me to be patient but I want to see where our cabin is!

I am so excited to find out we are going to Castaway Cay! Thanks for all the good info TA's, keep it up!

Good Morning Christening Cruisers, only 11 more days!!! :woohoo: :cool1:

I'll be easy to spot, as I'll be the one wearing the same black pants, same black shoes, and same black jacket both nights. Don't let the different tops throw you off. ;) :lmao: This southern girl can't bring herself to wear white or capris (that I normally wear on a cruise) in January. However, I am bringing capris incase the weather is so warm I can get over the whole January thing. :rotfl:

Since our cabin numbers have all been assigned I really think we'll be seeing docs in the next couple of days (keeping my fingers crossed). I just hope those docs also have more event info. Maybe we won't have to wait until we check in at the hospitality suite to get the event info (I'm just not patient enough to wait on surprises :upsidedow).

Hope everyone has a great weekend and gets some packing done. We're expecting 6 to 8 inches of snow here in Alabama beginning tomorrow. (Please let it melt within the following week so we can fly out in time. :goodvibes)

Does anybody know who the Godmother is for the Dream yet?
:confused3

Robin & Angel "D" :thumbsup2

I really hope you are right...I've had my cabin assignment for quite a while and I am really, really anxious to get info...I'm an uber planner. This is exciting, but also makes me nervous at the same time, it is not in my nature to relax and go with the flow :thumbsup2

I am such an A personality, this not knowing is making me nervous too! At least I know I am not the only nervous impatient one!

Seems like everyone but media has there staterooms assigned!

I still don't have mine!!!

BUT I do have the tentative media itinerary while we're board and it's going to be fun filled few days!! :)

So, Kyle, any interesting events on your itinerary you want to share with the rest of us? :flower3: :hyper: pirate:

Is it confidential? If not, PLEASE PLEASE share!!! I'm also wondering if they are media events just for media personnel or if they will be open to everyone?!?!?

There are only a few things on it I saw that were 'working media' only. Everything else was for everybody it seemed.

I actually forgot to bring a copy of it home so I don't remember exactly what everything is. I'd post here but i'm not sure i'm allowed.

I think i'm going to have to run in to work tomorrow so i'll grab it and see if I can't type up a brief overview. :-)

One thing I was surprised by is that it said for Thursday all guests must be back on the ship from Castaway Cay at 1:30pm. I was hoping to have more time on the island especially since we'll be busy broadcasting for most of it, but I can understand that the point on the cruise is to promote the Dream and not so much the island.

this time next week I will be at the airport :cool1: as of now I still have no info about anything. OMG, the suspense is killing me!

finally got my cabin assignment. deck 8, gotta like that!

this time next week we will be on board!

Excellent, congrats!! Makes it seem more real doesn't it? :goodvibes

Anyone have any other news? Anyone have docs? We've been snowed in here in the south and the mail didn't run yesterday. Mail came today, but no docs.

Just got this:

Attached please find your confirmation regarding your Walt Disney World Resort stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort.

We will have a Hospitality Suite at the Wilderness Lodge on the 18th for you to stop in and pick up your Event information and we will have Disney Cruise Line there as well to finish your check in process for your Cruise on the new Disney Dream.

The pre-Cruise Party Event in the Magic Kingdom on the evening of the 18th will be from approximately 7:30pm to 10:00pm for everyone to attend. The next morning will be an early morning as the Disney Cruise Line Buses will arrive at the Resort at 7:00am to begin boarding to take everyone to the Port for the Christening Celebration.

Attire throughout the Christening Sailing Event is Resort Casual.

I got that e-mail this morning as well! Doesn't sound like we will be getting any more information about the cruise until we get down there. I'm curious what everyone's plans are for the 18th. What time do you think you will check in at the hospitality suite? Are you going to the parks for the day??

Also, is anyone going to bring dinner attire? I just assumed that I would change for dinner each night---even if it isn't formal. It seems strange to me to wear resort casual to dinner. What do you think?

I think it is officially time to start packing!! I'm soooo excited!!!

what exactly is the definition of resort casual? I had planned on having the family dress up for dinner both nights, or maybe at least the dinner on thursday night?

I am planning on Animal Kingdom Lodge on the 18th. I get there the 17th at WL, so we'll be going to AK in the morning after I check in for my new rooms for a few hours. I wonder when the hospitality suite will be open? I assume we get park tickets when we check in on the 18th, which hopefully will be early. I just sent an email to Darren and asked.

Cruise casual...I always have the kids a little dressier. I'll probably wear a casual dress, with DH in khakis or nice jeans with a collared shirt, for dinner.

There was an attachment to my e-mail with a few more details on the hospitality suite---did you not get that?? Here's the text...

Lorna,
We are so pleased that you will be sailing with us on the Inaugural Sailing of Disney Cruise Line’s newest Ship the Disney Dream!

Prior to your sailing you will be staying at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, reservation number #xxxxxxxx. Upon your arrival at the resort, please check in at the Front Desk. Resort rooms are usually ready for occupancy at 3:00pm. If you arrive prior to that time, your luggage can be stored with bell services.

After you check in you will be directed to our Event Hospitality located in Explorer’s Hall to collect your event materials that will include a detailed itinerary. Disney Cruise Line cast will also be there to process your documents for the cruise. All members of your party will need to be present as pictures will be taken. Hopefully you have completed your Online Check in to help speed this process along. If you have not, please go to www.disneycruise.com to complete your online check-in. Your Cruise Confirmation number is: #xxxxxxx.

Hospitality hours are from 8:00am to 6:00pm on Tuesday, January 18th.
As you may know, security has been increased at The Walt Disney World Resort so please be sure to have a government-issued photo ID with you at all times. Our security hosts will check bags prior to guests entering the parks.
