Disney Dream 8th January 2012

We are thinking about this cruise, will advise should it come together.

We is Lynn and I, DVC members for a good long time and have been on a few disney cruises.

Hi! Just to let you know a little about us, I am a retired teacher. I taught in Detroit for 34 years. Both of my children will be going, my son is 30, single living in Arlington, VA. He graduated from Michigan State University with a masters in Computer Engineering an he is currently studying at Georgetown University law and hopes to be a lawyer in a few years. My daughter is 28 and recently divorced. She has moved to Florida near me with her one year old son, Xavier. Also going are the kids father and his wife. He retired as a bus driver in Michigan, moved down to Florida and worked as a bus driver at the Space Center until recently. His wife works as a CNA in a nursing home in Titusville, Fl.

This is our first cruise, but we are great Disney addicts. We all have annual passes and we have stayed at Contemporary, Carrribian Beach, Port Orleans, andBeach Club (our favorite) We make many day trips there, because I live only 20 minutes from Disney. :dance3:

My son usually comes down during each of his vacations and we go to each park at least once. My grandson had his first birthday at Chef Mickey's and has been to all the parks except Animal Kingdom.

Let me know if anyone has any more questions.:wizard:

As far as the FE gift goes, one gift per cabin is fine, although I plan to have something for each member of the cabin included.

It must be great living in Fl, and having your daughter near by.
What are you looking forward to most on the cruise?

so a little bit about us too:

Me: Anne-Karine. I am a neuropsychologist. I live in Gatineau, Québec (canada). It's right beside Ottawa (Canada's capital!). I was in montreal to do my masters degree and PhD degree, but now back in my home town. I speak french first, but I would say I am bilingual. I am the disney addict, but my husband enjoys it too, and he is mostly happy to go cruising!

My husband (Mike) works for Telus, a telecommunication company, as a computer technology specialist (I think that's his title anyway!). :surfweb:

We don't have any children yet but we have a dog :dog: and two cats :cat: :cat: ! Our first disney cruise was in October 2009, for our honeymoon. :hug:We are really excited to go on our 2nd and 3rd cruise in January. :sail: Especially because in Canada we have extremely cold weather in January :cold: it will be good to get away from the snow!!!

Anyway, I read sooooooo many trip reports, I can't believe it's still 6 months until we go.

so that's us!

Happy Canada day(sorry its late)
what does a neuropsychologist do exactly? sounds really interseting.
We dont have any children, weve been married nrealy 20 years so I guess thats the way its going to stay:rolleyes1
We have 1 horse and one itsy bitsy pony the little one is a friend for the big one we ride.

A neuropsychologist evaluates the functioning of the brain (basically!)

So someone with a brain injury, children with attention deficit disorder, learning disability, etc. would go see a neuropsychologist to learn what are the limitations for example.

I mostly work with children in my practice.

Here's a pic of our dog: Laïka!

Nice furry friends,

Did anyone book this cruise with DVC points? when we call we were told no DVC points for either the Dream or Fantasy till October 2012.

Thanks Much, it is coming together,

Can not wait to be on this cruise. My partner and I are excited as this is our first Disney cruise!! We have had this booked for months now...still seems so far away!

derblaine's staerooms are 6564 and 6566 for the fish extender list.

anyone has an idea of what they'll be doing in Nassau? :confused3

I have never been there and I am not reading very positive things about it, so I am considering not getting off the ship...

We are planning on just getting off the ship for a brief time in Nassau - do not have much interest in going there, and would rather spend time on the ship. I want to take as much advantage of it as possible.

Not sure what excursion/activity to do at Castaway yet - thinking snorkeling or bike riding - so many choices. I also want to go parasailing, but may save that for lake buena vista.

Hi! We're not planning on getting off the ship in Nassau. We were there many years ago and were not impressed at all. In fact, the kids were really scared when we walked back to the ship. Also, we used a cab to drive us somewhere and we didn't think we would make it to our destination alive. Really scary. We plan on staying on the ship and enjoying the activities on it.

Hi, I am Lynn, the other half of Scott and Lynn!
:wave2: Hi Lynn, we had lots of Lyn's on our last cruise thread meet, great name:thumbsup2

Not a lot, replenishing "adult"drinks if rquired and going to hard rock cafe for a wine, nosey around the shops but thats about it.

This year when we done the panama canal cruise we couldnt get docked in castaway cay, the time before that it was too windy for the stuff we booked, this time I aint giving myself the kiss of death by booking anything.

In Nassau i like to find a local spot to get some Rice and Peas and conch fritters, usually get off Bay street to find, if out pigeon pea supply at home is getting low we find a local grocery and get a bag or two ( these are used to make rice and peas at home).

Also grab a coconut water or a Junkcanoe soda.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you all know a little bit about our family. This will be our 4th Disney Cruise. We have been on the Wonder twice and the Magic once. This is also a surprise cruise for our kids as my daughter will turn 10 on Jan 10th. They have no idea we are cruising! We have even gone as far as to tell them that we could never afford to go on the Dream.:goodvibes Hopefully it will stay a surprise until that morning. I (Betsy) am a preschool director at our local YMCA and my husband, Rob. is a grain farmer. My mom is coming along for the fun. She is a nanny for twin girls. My son Gannon, is 13 and enjoys soccer, legos and of course, farm equipment. My daughter Emma, is 9 and loves to dance and read. We all love anything Disney related and I am the "go to" person for all things Disney in our neighborhood. We have visited the world as a family around 10 times. This will be our first trip to Universal Studios before the cruise. We are excited about Harry Potter world. Can't wait to meet you!
