Ok, so let's talk about the 10/10 Dream sailing... we thought we would be OK but looks as if this will be affected my Matthew as well.

  • PC should be clear as long as there is no damage so I'm sure the cruise will embark.
  • Given the predicted boomerang path of Matthew, it doesn't seem feasible that this will be a bahamas itinerary.
  • I'd be happy with a stop in Cozumel and a stop in Grand Caymen :)

Thoughts on this sailing?

The Dream is scheduled to be doing a four night Bahamas cruise, not an Eastern Caribbean, so I'm not sure what your question is.

my mistake, i dont always speak "cruise"... i merely meant it's not going to be hanging around in the bahamas. Does that make my question clearer?

It did a modified Eastern for the current sailing. They have not indicated that they will be doing alternate itineraries yet because no one can 100% say what this storm is going to do.

They did a modified Western - sea day; Cozumel; sea day. It's conceivable they could do that again, but if Matthew loops back, that's where it will be on the 10th, so that route is highly unlikely.

Sorry - my error. I meant Western.

But regardless, they are nowhere near making a decision about 10/10 while they still need to get the Fantasy and Dream safely through the current situation and docked.

are you saying it will be in the Gulf on the 10th?

I haven't seen a model yet this morning to know if there were changes overnight, but as of yesterday afternoon one prediction model showed Matthew hugging the Florida coast north and then turning east and back south -- back to the tip of Florida and potentially repeat. Literally running in a big circle. If that model holds, and IF Port Canaveral is open for a Monday embarkation, I'd expect cruises to head north rather than back south through it. But there's a lot of IF's involved and really too soon to tell what will happen with the 10/10 cruise.

Sorry, didn't see this thread so I'll repost it here

Hey all! New to the board, hoping to get some solidadvice. I'm on the 10/10 Disney Dream cruise that is supposed to go to Nassau and Castaway Cay, Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, chances are pretty slim that the cruise actually stops there now right?

Also, I planned to drive in from TN starting Friday morning, should I adjust or get as close as possible to Florida and then find a good place to spend Friday evening at? The dilemma is I have Universal Orlando tickets for Saturday, I wonder if it'll be up and running or if we can rebook for Sunday?

I know this is a lot but I do hope to get some helpful suggestions. Thanks all.

not looking good. based on those models, I'm not exactly sure where the Dream will go

You're probably going to have a challenge finding anywhere close to Florida to stay Friday night because the folks that are evacuating need places to stay. The weather folks are predicting 100 - 140 mph winds to rake the coast on Friday, taking out power and causing massive destruction. You really don't want to be in the middle of that. I don't thing I'd head south Friday or Saturday without a reservation somewhere. This is a watch the news and see what's happening. Universal Orlando has already announced they're closing on Friday and it wouldn't surprise me if they were closed on Saturday also to clean up the mess from Friday. Good luck and enjoy your vacation if you can.

Seems this will go on as planned. We were actually hoping for a chance to cancel :)

I'm in the same boat here-literally. Will be interesting to see which itinerary they will sail for the Dream 10/10. Would not mind a trip down to Cozumel-much, much nicer than Nassau.

Who knows?! There's 4 full days for atlantis to get back up and running and i'd bet they get fully operational by tomorrow. I haven't heard much about Nassau but my theory is IF it was BAD, we'd be hearing it 24/7 on the news :)

so much depends on matthew's course - if it loops around, I think we'll be in the gulf, if it goes back out to sea I think we'll be in Bahamas
