Disney discounted room only offer on UK-Expedia; ended 31 March.

Has anyone checked to see if there are similar discounts available for the Disneyland resort hotels?

Tried a few dates but sorry to say we can't find any difference in the pricing between the UK and US Expedia sites for Disneyland resorts.

And for those not looking for a package deal then there's still some great room only discounts at WDW when compared to the US-Expedia site and here's another example over Thanksgiving.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge in a standard view for 2 adults and 2 children checking in for 7-nights on Sunday 23rd November.

US-Expedia: $2,932
UK-Expedia: £803.88, approx $1,332. ($191 per night including tax)

That's a saving of around 54%, $1,600

I have been checking the site for my DL trip in May and have not found any savings. Actually the UK site has been $100-200 dollars more. Bummer because if I found a good deal, I was going to stay onsite.

I was able to book one night at ASSp, std. location, for 54.09 ($89.79 USD) for one night in mid-March of this year.
The AP rate for the same night on Disney's website was $114.42 with tax.
The rate on Orbitz.com for the same room, same night was $106.86 with tax when using the HOTEL15 discount code.
I'm heading down to see my nephew march at the MK and just needed a value room for the first night before my stay at OKW begins. This was much cheaper than booking somewhere offsite and then paying for ground transportation.

One question for those who booked - How do you link the reservation in MDE? Has anyone tried yet? I'm not having any success using the itinerary number on the confirmation email. It's not a huge deal because I'm probably not even going to go into the parks that night but it would be nice to have it in there in case I book an earlier flight.

Hi Marionnette and like you we didn't received a Disney reservation number and we booked over 3-weeks ago so if you or anyone else is still waiting then please read on.....

We first e-mailed Expedia but they couldn't help so we then phoned UK customer support (from abroad +44 203 0248211)

Customer support placed us on hold while they called the resort, they in turn were placed on hold for about 10-minutes and was then transferred to the Disney Travel Wholesale Office which I believe must handle Expedia's accounts, they in turn gave Expedia a 12-digit number who then passed it on to us.

The call lasted about 30-minutes as Expedia support waited on line while we accessed My Disney Experience and typed in the 12-digit number and hey presto our reservation was there and we just needed to update the name of the second guest.

So for those who haven't receive a Disney reservation number we suggest you first send an e-mail which you can do from their Customer Support page at http://support.expedia.co.uk/ and state that they would need to speak to the Disney Travel Wholesale office but might need to be connect via the hotels front desk.

The response can take up to 48-hours and if that doesn't work then it might be worth sending a second e-mail before making a call.

Best of luck Marionnette, have a wonderful vacation and like you we're staying one night in the Sports before moving onto OKW in March....

I am wondering if you can only book room only through them or if I can add tickets and/or dining plan?

I am wondering if you can only book room only through them or if I can add tickets and/or dining plan?

Sorry, but I believe US citizens when booking through UK-Expedia cannot add a dining plan and/or tickets to their reservation, so room only bookings.

UK guest can currently purchase either a 7-day Magic Your Way Premium ticket or a 14-day or 21-day Ultimate Ticket on UK-Expedia.

We're not 100% sure but it looks like the UK-Expedia room only discounts could be on offer until 3rd March.

This morning we found savings for a 7-night room only reservation at the Beach Club checking in on Sunday 6th April in a garden view room.
US-Expedia: $2,838.91
UK-Expedia: £1,123.29, approx $1,854.
UK average price per night $265.
Therefore saving up to 35%, $984 over US-Expedia.
Rack rate for those nights: Weekday-$554 and weekend $600
UK-Expedia is therefore around 50% less than the rack rate.

Next example is for a 6-night room only reservation at the Beach Club checking in on Saturday 5th April in a water (lagoon) or pool view room.
US-Expedia: $2,723.92
UK-Expedia: £1,168.38, approx $1,930.
UK average price per night $322.
Therefore saving up to 29%, $793 over US-Expedia.
Rack rate for those nights: Weekday $640 and weekend $690
UK-Expedia is therefore around 50% less than the rack rate.

Subscribing...we usually use our DVC points or trade in via RCI, but this could come in handy someday for a short stay. It looks like it could be cheaper than renting weekend DVC points. Nice find OP!

We found a few dates when UK-Expedia is comparable to renting and posted some examples in thread #36 and yes, staying for short weekend breaks or over a holiday period will result in bigger savings and with the ability to cancel.

And here's another example of a short break over Thanksgiving at a deluxe resort.

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Outer-Lodge Standard Room Club Level.

Checking in for 4-nights over Thanksgiving from Wednesday 26th and checking out Sunday 30th.

US-Expedia: $3,488.63
UK-Expedia: £1,107.92, approx $1,830.
Average nightly rate $460.
Therefore saving up to $1,658, that's 47% over US-Expedia and the rack rate.
Rack rate for those nights: 26th-28th Nov at $888 and 29th Nov at $822.

Has anyone recently experienced that sort of discount at the Grand Floridian and in a club room?

Has anyone set up Magical Express yet or pick fast pass + ?

Yes. I set up ME and it shows on MDE. I have customized magic bands and set up FP+. I also received that little booklet Disney is now sending out with the magnetic reminder of dates and all that stuff.

Big thanks to the OP. Once the dust settles it looks like I will save just over $700 Cd. based on current exchange rates.
I have an email into Expedia, because like a PP, my confirmation shows I have requested a King bed. I thought for certain I had checked the option for 2 queen beds. We are a family of 4 and a room with a king bed won't be suitable.
I have a question for those who have found their Disney confirmation # on the Expedia site - where does it show? A PP mentioned the top right corner that showed the word confirmed. When I look there it only shows "Booked." Will this change from "Booked" to "Confirmed" and then the Disney confirmation # will appear or should I send an email to Expedia requesting the number?
Thanks.

That was me that saw it in the upper right corner. However, it wasn't there until a couple days after I made the reservation. I did also send an email to Expedia the day I made the ressie. I received the WDW confirmation via email a couple days after I found it on the Expedia website.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give it a couple of days and check again.

And here's three budget examples around Spring-Break, Easter and Independence Day.

UK-Expedia: £420, approx $695: Average nightly rate $99.
US-Expedia:..............-...........$1,005: Average nightly rate $143.
Potentially a saving of up to $310.
---------
7-night room only booking in a standard room for 2 adults and 2 children at the All-Stars Music checking in Sunday 13th-20th April.
UK-Expedia: £618, approx $1,020: Average nightly rate $146.
US-Expedia:..............-..............$1,338: Average nightly rate $191.

7-night room only booking in a preferred room for 2 adults and 2 children at the All-Stars Music checking in Saturday 28th June-5th July.
UK-Expedia: £559, approx $923: Average nightly rate $132.
US-Expedia:.............-............$1,229: Average nightly rate $175.

The above comparisons highlights the current differences between the US and UK Expedia web sites, it does not take into consideration any other savings that can be made on US Expedia such as coupons, promo codes or cash-back sites.

Quick question. If you need to cancel, is really as easy as going to the website and clicking the "cancel my hotel booking" at the top?

Thanks for the reply. I'll give it a couple of days and check again.

I booked through the site on Thursday night and my Disney confirmation numbers were there when I looked this morning. The "Booked" had changed to "Confirmed" on both of my itineraries and new confirmation numbers were listed just below. When I plugged those numbers into Disney's site, up my reservations pulled up exactly as I had made them.:thumbsup2

Think we might need a guinea-pig for that, any volunteers?

Just searched and found this info on the UK web site and might be worth comparing it to the US conditions.

If I need to cancel my hotel reservation, will I receive a refund?
You can cancel your hotel reservation* through your itinerary on Expedia.co.uk. Before you make any changes or cancellations, please check the rules and restrictions associated with the hotel and room type booked to determine whether you are eligible for a refund. The rules and restrictions are located at the bottom of your itinerary.
While Expedia does not charge fees for changes or cancellations, some hotels may impose non-refundable fees in accordance with their own policies that Expedia is required to pass on to you. Please note that some room types are fully non-refundable from the time they are booked. Additionally, hotels will generally charge a higher fee if cancellation occurs within 24 to 48 hours of the scheduled arrival. Rules vary by hotel and room type, so it is important to check the rules associated with your booking.
