Disney discounted room only offer on UK-Expedia; ended 31 March.

has anyone completed a trip using expedia.uk? what happens after you book? do your documents come from expedia or do they come direct from disney? if i were to book today and the expedia rates go down do i understand that expedia will refund the difference? does expedia not care that you are booking from another country? do you actually use your home address?

i'm excited about this but confused. tia.

I booked last February for my October 2014 trip. I got Yacht Club garden view for $217/nt:cool1: . Once I booked with expedia UK, I contacted them through facebook messager to obtain my Disney confirmation code. When I got that code, I linked the trip in MDE, then got documents from Disney and booked magic express.

I booked my trip with my correct USA address and didn't feel like I was doing anything underhanded, I was completely honest about everything. My nephew was teasing me that I was going to have to check in at the desk with a british accent, but it wasn't necessary;)

At one point after I booked, they offered an additional 10% off, so I cancelled and rebooked rather than wait to see if I would get the difference from them. My cancellation was refunded in 1-2 days.

It all went rather smoothly and I wouldn't have been able to stay at YC otherwise, I'm currently watching Beach Club prices for this year, currently showing $247/nt for garden view for my dates ($460 on Disney website)

thank you so much for the reply. i'm looking for october but can't decide if i should book now or wait and see if they offer a discount to the prices of today. we are looking at AKL and like you would not do if we had to go on rack rates. we have till october so i guess i could wait a few weeks. i want to use the code for the $20 (or is it $30) off so i don't want to waste it if i can't use it later.

what is Facebook messenger? i have Facebook, just don't know what the messenger part is.
thank you again for your help.

I completed a trip in November and had no problems booking with a US address.

A lot of this is covered in Samaya's excellent initial post, but from my experience here are my pros and cons for booking through Expedia UK.

Pros:
-Huge savings allowed us to stay at a deluxe resort for the first time.
-Good cancellation policy
-Once you have your disney reservation number and get it manually added to your mde account, you will be eligible for all of the normal dining and fastpass onsite benefits.

Cons:
-You must pay in full at time of booking, whereas disney only requires a deposit. This is true for any 3rd party booking site.
-To maximize savings, you must pay in British Pounds with a credit card that does not charge a foreign transaction fee.
-Unless you pre-approve the charge with your credit card, the transaction will most likely fail and trigger a fraud alert on your card. A quick call to your credit card should clear that up and allow you to reprocess the charge. I actually re-submitted it on expedia.uk while i had my credit card rep on the phone it did not get declined again.
-You might have to do some legwork to get your disney reservation number once expedia.uk confirms your booking. Some have been lucky with this while others like me have had to contact Expedia UK for assistance. (mine took over a week and 3 emails)
-If you call disney reservations, my experience was that they sometimes wont help you with anything related to the reservation. Our magic bands did not ship so i called disney reservations and they told me i had to call my travel agent. Instead i just called back and talked to someone else who was more lenient and took care of it for me.
-I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you are not able to book a dining plan, just room only.

Not every rate offers a significant discount over Disney promos or deals that can be found on Orbitz. I have even seen some rates that are higher. But if you are flexible with travel dates and resort/room-types then you can find some amazing deals. For my trip the savings outweighed all of the extra emails and phone calls I made to get the Expedia UK booking to work for me.

Thank you Samaya for sharing this info with all of us!

Yeah, it's a gamble. I see Yacht club is booked already for our November dates, so I'm hoping Beach club will still be available. I'm going to wait til Feb to book, hoping that the addl 10% comes available.

Like Kenny mentioned, you do have to pay in full at the time of booking, and can't add the dining plan. After I booked (in british pounds), my credit card company called me, sent me a text, and sent me an email all with 10 minutes of me booking to ensure that it was me doing this. You could call first to avoid the alarm.

Facebook messager is the square next to where your notifications are on the top of the facebook screen. I searched for them first, then used the messager to send them a message with my confirmation number and what I was looking for. I had two reservations at one point, and they called me for one of them and messaged be back about the other one.

do they advertise the discounts or do you just have to keep checking back?

I used VCUKJAN15 and saved 10% off my booking

It looks like this code can only be used by UK residents:

"B.8.The voucher code may only be used by legal residents of the UK aged 18 and over."

That's a shame. Although the discounts are already incredible an extra 10% is always welcome:)

Hmm, same thing with the mobile20new code. For legal residents of the UK only. But I see that threeboysmom has used this code and she's from the US.

@donkeyandshrek:
You used the VCUKJAN15 code but I can't see what your location is. Are you from the UK? It would be cool if the codes can also be used by non-UK residents. I'm hoping for a code in February that I can use for my planned trip in the last week of October and first week of November :rolleyes1

I'm from the US. mobile20new is a better deal, however, it kept dropping the children off my ressie Couldn't add them back without calling. So I cancelled all, used the above code (which I think expires today), got my conf # from Disney and am all set in MDE.

I need to be at Caribbean Beach Resort March 21-27 since my son's HS baseball team is playing at Wide World of Sports. This is where the team and families are staying. I don't need tickets since I have a PAP and if I go onto the UK website and use the code given above I can save over $250 off my AP discount for CBR. Has anyone had any trouble canceling? I may book to keep the rate and keep checking, especially if code ends today?!?!?!

I'm from New York.

May also look for December for Ft. Lauderdale.

Thank you.

Hmmm, I had no idea that MOBILE20NEW could only be used by UK residents. It went through for me just fine even though I listed my address as US.

Still waiting on my Disney confirmation # though... My itinerary shows a confirmation #, but it's not the one beginning with a 4. If I don't have it by next week, I'll try to contact someone, but my trip is months away, so I have plenty of time.... unfortunately, lol.

Hi. So you are comfortable booking with the UK site?
I can put the code VCUKJAN15 in and save $250 over my AP (it's not taking the mobile code). If something else comes up or I change my resort, is there a fee for me to cancel? On the site it says I have until a few days before to cancel but are there any hidden fees?
They charge my card immediately is that correct? If so, I want to make sure I get my money back if I cancel.

Thank you.

I am VERY confident booking with the UK site. It's still Expedia so it's the same cancellation policy and even the same price guarantee as the US Expedia site.

There are people on this thread that have successfully cancelled their reservation and received a refund within 3-5 days. I'm not worried AT ALL.

It won't take the mobile code unless you are making the reservation on your mobile device. It comes out to about $30 USD. Not sure what the other code is giving.

This is $250 less than my AP rate :worship:
Love the dis!

Expedia UK prices are slightly increasing now. 14 nights All-Star Sports Resort in Oct/Nov was £732 last week. Earlier this week the price increased to £742 and today to £748. I was actually hoping for a discount code in Feb to use for my trip in Oct/Nov but I decided to not longer wait in case prices are increasing further. I could always cancel and make a new booking anyway.

I succesfully used the MOBILE20NEW code so there seems to be no check if you are a UK resident or not.

I made this booking:

All -Star Sports Resort

Check-in: Fri, October 23 - Check-out: Fri, Nov 6 (14 nights)

Disney's rack rate: $1645.28
Walt Disney Travel Company UK: £827.96 = $1253.25
Expedia UK: £727.60 = $1101.34

Saving over Disney's rack rate, $543.94 so 33%
Saving over WDTC UK, $151.91 so 12%

Booking is confirmed, I'm waiting for the 12 digit reservation number now. 33% discount is not bad for a value resort, is it:yay:

okay, i just booked my room but now it says only one person is in the room when it should show two. any idea how i can correct that? do i have to phone expedia. uk?

i obviously did something wrong. :(
