How much would you charge to make me 4 shirts with the american family vacation on them? I am just amazed by them! I think you have found a way to make more money to go to disney world! :sunny:

That's a great idea and one I've thought of myself....however...I don't think Disney would think kindly of me making money using their copyrighted characters without paying a licensing fee.

Thanks for the offer,
JimmieD

I just went to BIG Lots and bought a Disney iron on t-shirt package that came with Disney's Print Studio Deluxe CD. Has anyone used this program to make t-shirts? I'm planning on making shirts for DS and DN for our October trip to WDW.

JimmieD, okay, so you can't use copyrighted or trademarked imagery or words, but you could use other images and abbreviations (WDW) and terms like "Makin' Magic with the Mouse." With your skill with Photoshop, you should seriously think about it. I've been playing around with your file, and I'm impressed. :)

For the December trip I'm using "Makin' Merry with da Mouse." I've been experimenting with layer styles using stroke and drop shadows, but I'm not entirely happy yet. But since I have a lot of time between now and December, it gives me something Disney to do! :goodvibes

Hi everybody - this is only my second post but I want to try to show you the t shirts that I made for my husbands 40th birthday in April. It is all done with iron ons, there were a total of 5 shirts done and there were three pictures per shirt. Each person's shirt was of baby pictures of my husband -- my MIL wore a shirt with her and my husband as a baby, my FIL wore a shirt with him and my husband as a baby, you get the idea. There were a total of 15 iron ons, so I naturally arranged the three in the shape of the standard "hidden mickey". I just realized that I'm not allowed to post attachments... since I'm new at this, can anybody teach me how to insert two photographs?? Thanks,
Steamboat Marti

What a fun thread! I've been playing around with designs for our trip this DecemberI came up with a design for shirts for my mom and I to wear :) I can't insert it or link to it, though.

Here, I made it my signature :)

I thought I'd mention this to those who are making homemade WDW tshirts and have an AC Moore nearby.
In my morning paper AC Moore has adult and child sized Hanes tshirts in many colors (over 30 colors) priced at 5 for $10.
The sales runs from June 29 to July 5.

Hope this helps someone. :)

DD saw matching shirts and wants us to try it!! aaaaack!! I've only done tie dye for Greatful Dead Shows!! :roflol:

Anyone that has done the Mickey Mouse tie dye (and I've seen your pictures!! loved them) Is it hard? Do you make mistakes before you get it "right"??

Did the waxed thread make a difference??? Anyone live nearby that I can watch you make them??? (ok j/k, just nervous!!)

The only mistakes that I made on our Mickey shirts was not leaving a little space between colors, and they bled a little too much. It still looked ok, just not as defined.

I think that I used waxed dental floss as my thread, since I already had that at home. I can't remember, though...if I didn't use the floss, I used regular heavy-duty (non-waxed) thread.

I think that they will look great no matter what! Even if it isn't exactly the result that you were going for.

Hey Disneysnowflake, thanks for the info on ACMoore! The shirts were cheap last week but now are even better!!! :cool1: I bought 4 sets of matching colors for DD and myself. Now to do something to them! :rotfl2:

Also , just back from local mall and Disney store. Extra 30% off clearance :cool1: Grabbed almost a dozen t-shirts for $4-$5 each :cheer2: Even found matching ones for younger DD and her big sis.

Now I'm not sure I will make my own but that box of tye-dye I bought 2 weeks ago keeps calling me back. :rotfl:

I guess I'm still in the "planning" or "buying" stage, will be sure to post IF I finally put something together. I have to say it again, I love this tread!!! :cheer2:

I saw some of these at Wal Mart for $9.97...the very same thing was $13.99 at Jo Ann's. What I'm wondering is if these are the kits y'all are using for the tie dye shirts? (I can't recall the brand name.)

I saw three different kinds...one was called "vibrant colors", one was "primary colors", the other was "tropical colors". I think there are only 3 different colors in each box...are these the ones I should get?

They might be... the thing to look for is that the dyes are fiber reactive. My local WalMart has the same dyes as major craft chain stores. The box for both have a young person in a tye dye shirt on them. And the kit has the dye, soda ash, bottles and info on what to do.Fiber reactive dyes will give you the most permant, long lasting bright colors, even if you want pastels. And Fiber Reactive dyes are only good on natural fibers. So you want 100% Cotton shirts. They then need to be washed and dryed with out any fabric softners because fabric softners coat the fiber and will not allow the dye to penatrate the fabric. You can use everday all purpose dyes but will need to use heat to dye poly.fiber. Cotton Ts are the best to dye for home dyeing. And they breath best in the Florida heat.

Also the longer you leave the dye on the shirts( and they must be wet), the better the color yeild will be. Up to 36 hours for some dyes. But most will develope a good color that is permant in 4-24 hours. Then you need to rince, rince, and rince a few more times.. then wash and dry.

Sorry if this is more info then you wanted. I do a lot of fabric dyeing for costumes/quilts.

Sounds cute. I hope you can post a picture....and welcome! These boards are great!!

idofabric I appreciate the info!!

I also bought some dye... now, I took and cut out some circles for MM - um is it just me, or does anyone else think their Mickey heads look more like Buster from the Arthur cartoon/book?? :rotfl:

idofabric, I appreciate all that info. The more the better for me because I've never done tie dye before & I'm trying to learn all I can before giving that Mickey shirt a try, so thank you for the help and advice to use 100% cotton shirts!

The kits I've seen at my local WM have two girls (maybe in their early 20's??) on the front so it sounds like it might be a different kit than what you've seen at yours. Should it say "fiber reactive" or something similar on the box...or what exactly do I need to be looking for if it doesn't say that? I think I recall the instructions said to leave the shirts wrapped for 24 hours, then wash them.

I finally made a design everyone going is happy with. :cheer2:
Got it the size needed without it fading.
NOW HOW DO I GET IT TO POST. :confused3
Can someone explain to me how to post a picture.
HELP!
Thank for all the ideas everyone.
PM me if you want.
Finally figured out how that works.
:wave2:

I bought the t-shirts to tie dye at AC Moore tonight for $2 each-they 50/50. Will these t-shirts take the dye? If not, where to find 100% cotton t-shirts?

Also-if you are looking to buy the dye cheap-there is a seller on Ebay that is selling 42 different colors (Ebay name DEARLOVE). You can pick your own colors and make up your own kits (Kits for 6XL shirts are $5 for 4 colors, $1 each additional color and $4 for shipping no matter how much you buy). The ones in Walmart and AC Moore that I looked at only have 3 colors for $10. If I've calculated correctly-I can get 16 colors for $21 shipped.

Also-I am going to attempt a Minnie Mouse design-I'll let you know if it works out.

I was just at Walmart looking for Tulip spray dye, which I didn't find. However I did see the kits you're talking about. They all had the name "Rainbow Rock" on them.
