Disney closing parks?

It's hard to say, but I concur with those saying it is unlikely Disney will close again. If anything they'll enforce social distancing again, insist on masks inside and out, and maybe make changes to dining. I don't think they'll do a vaccine mandate, as it's 1)weirdly a political thing these days; and 2)so many Disney guests are young children.
I can see Land having a vaccine mandate as universal Hollywood has/did due to LA county laws not World

I just got back and I feel this is more likely as well. The mask requirements appear to just be there to appease some group or do the bare minimum of cdc recommendations. Employees still remind people if their mask is off their nose but the hostile behavior doesn’t seem to be around like last year.

Every restaurant and lounge I went to was at full capacity and everyone except employees are unmasked there. There is no social distancing and we are back to filling in all available space in preshows. And if you look around at the masks people wear at the parks 50-75% are worn wrong or have gaps making them useless. Even people who bother to wear KN95s often have gaps.

It wasn't going well last March either. You could tell that a large portion of the guests could care less. Masks were as you said being more enforced, but forget anything else. It was so crowded people were tripping over each other. Day two I just gave up and said to myself "welp, I got covid". Somehow I did not... I went to Mexico two months ago... still did not.. went to Christmas and got it from my daughter... sigh

They could simply say "guests above 5 must be vaccinated" or something similar. Or have it as a rule for ppl with adult tickets.

I would love it if they did that, but I just think where this vaccine is so (regrettably!) tied up in politics, it'll be too controversial for the Mouse. Happy to be proved wrong though!

Florida law prevents them from requiring proof of vaccination. Also, why? The vaccines do not prevent transmission. You can still get and spread COVID if you are vaccinated. This is a known fact. There is absolutely no logic in mandating these vaccines.

If you are worried about the vaccine being "too tied up in politics", then you shouldn't be advocating or supportive of pushing unvaccinated people out of society. This would only create further controversy and skepticism.

I'm all for the vaccines. If you are vaccinated, you are protected. It does not matter if the person next to you is or isn't. It really is that simple.

I am not gonna get into a conversation about whatever it is that you want to fight about. My comment was simply how they could potentially word it to account for children who cannot get vaccinated yet.

I don't want to fight with you. I'm just telling you the facts. They can't use that wording or require guests to be vaccinated. It is illegal in Florida.

Wondering how laws in Florida are relevant to my 100% hypothetical guess about wording and sentence structure. :rolleyes2
But sure dude, you totally didn't come in looking for a fight by quoting 2 dif ppl and talking about apples when everyone else was talking about pears. I suggest you follow soniam's advice and review the rules.

Back to the actual topic, I don't believe either coasts will close the parks again. Conventions, and sports events and concerts are happening in both states so it seems really unlikely imo. I do wonder if there will be more local visitors tho, considering all the problems with flights recently.

Well, Disneyland isn't closed, but we went yesterday and it seemed like half of Downtown Disney was...

Numerous restaurants and shops were closed (Napolini and the Taqueria), more than 50% of the carts were shuttered as of 2pm, the Lego store did not open as scheduled at 9am, etc.

The parks slashed their hours to 9am-8pm for both parks this week (including yesterday which was a HOLIDAY). We noticed VERY short staffing at Pyms Test Kitchen and Flo's, and eerily, DCA was just VERY uncrowded from 9am to 2pm when we left. It was very pleasant, but quite an anomaly for MLK Monday. The shortened park hours were a surprise.
