Disney Channel Games 2008???

Ok I don't mean this as rude as I know it is going to sound but Hellooooo... you can listen to someone who has posted twice on the board OR from the people who went last year and this year and have been posting for a LONG time... I'm telling you, it's awful... AWFUL... my kids who are major Disney Fans asked to leave and go back to the condo to swim after about an hour of this crap. It's bad... it's MISERABLE and the MOST fan UNfriendly event I have ever seen at Disney. Is it worth going? That's a personal choice I suppose and I can't say don't go but don't blame me when you drive all of this way, spend this kind of money and all your kids want to do is go swim... will they snake an auttograph or two? Probably... amongst the SCREAMING teeny boppers (and wed evidently) who are willing to run from one side of the stadium to the other and scream some more and get squished... Since the Disney people read this here's a thought people...

Set up a fanfest, have people make a "donation" for whatever amount $10, $20 people will pay it and allow them in to get autographs and pics with their favs and be done with it. They can choose for their donation to go to their fav color team and raise a LOT of money for the charities without actually "charging" to get in... you can stagger the tickets by an hour or so and keep controlled chaos for a long time ... kids will be happy, stars won't get trampled, parents will pay just so their kids are happy and the charities will make a lot fo money...

Think they are just "discouraging" cameras.. ok then take yours in... and then a) lose it to the staff b) walk back to your car OR c) get kicked out like the 6 people I personally witnessed being escorted out by the plain clothesed security people... they are and I quote "STRICKTLY PROHIBITTED" Sorry to be DebbieDowner here but it's a fact people and I don't want anyone showing up and thinking it will be ANYTHING like last year because it is NOT

woah.everyones making the games sound alot more intense than they really were today. i got there around 10:30 and left at 1. yes, the bagcheck was intense and they made people bring their cameras to their cars (i was one of them, but my friends somehow managed to sneak theirs in) but you could definitely see what was going on on the field. We sat in the grassy area to the left of the bleachers and could see everything fine. Of course they didn't flim ANYTHING the entire time we were there and the stars came out for the first time around 12:30, but it was interesting to see. There was a small crowd at the fence in the grassy area and some of the international stars were signing autographs and talking to people, but other than that nothing much happened. Brian from TSL was walking around and he may have filmed a few things, and he came and signed some autographs, but other than that it was all sitting around. I talked to my friend who is still there around 3 and she said the stars had gone back "in hiding" and still nothing had been filmed.

They do frown upon taking pictures and they will tell you to put your camera back in your car if they catch you, but other than that I didnt see any issues.

hope that helps some of you...
oh, and this may make me sound like a creeper haha but i've been reading this thread for a few months now so I've been caught up on everything going on :P

I picked up my concert tickets this morning too and I still got my seats. I'm a cast member and I emailed for tickets for cast member and general public because I hadnt gotten a response, so I don't know if my tickets were through the Cast member email or the general public email, but im way up in the 200's. The stadium is small enough so Im not worried about not being able to see or anyting and as much as I want to be in the field, I've had wayy too many near death experiences in crazy jonas crowds. I'd rather not go through that again :)

Wow! thanks for all that info! it certainly makes me feel a whole lot better about the games! :) i mean i understand there wasn't a lot of star action but at least it was enjoyable...right? hehe.

where there a lot of people already inside when you got there?

Thanks for your honesty

I can safely say I am very upset that it's too late for me to cancel my hotel reservation.

With all this info, plus the discouraging numbers and info regarding the concert, I wish I didn't have to go at all. But I'm not the only one I am taking, so I have to go.

Thanks again.

i was just saying what i experienced. i never said it was anything like last year because i obviously didn't go last year. this is just what i saw...i said it was uneventful and nothing happened. where is the crap in what i said? i didnt say i had an amazing time and its an experience not to miss. you also have to realize this is coming from a different perspective since i'm just a cast member watching the games on my day off. looking at the perspective of a guest traveling and spending alot of money just for the games, it definitely isnt worth it. i never said it was

i was just trying to help...
this is what discouraged me from signing up for these boards in the first place...i'll just stop now before i make anyone else upset

you did help... at least me :)
I'm sure no one meant to offend you
we appreaciate your input and your view of how things went!

I am going down to orlando to visit friends and go to disney. so when i go on thursday, hopefully i will have a good time hanging out with friends at the stadium. :)

stick around, I like to hear from everyone :D

It's only my opinion as well, but I think it is worth it to hear from those that are coming at it with fresh eyes and those that have been before. I haven't been, and to be frank, had wildly high expectations thanks to the great descriptions given by those that went last year. Now, we'll see what happens and I'm glad I was only planning on taking the kids on Thursday. O&LMom - thanks for the down & dirty, especially regarding cameras. I think we all may have had a lower expectation of security based on what we heard from last year. What a huge disappointment for the kids - I know you all were looking forward to it, I'm so sorry today has been a bust. Allzie, since I, like you, will be attending for the first time -thanks for the report as well. Every person I'm sure will have their own experience and at this point, I guess we just have to hope that most of them are at least OK ones. Looking forward to more first hand accounts. And again - thank you all for the incredible feedback and time you have put into keeping the rest of us updated.

I just want to thank everyone for their perspectives and opinions. I did not go last year so I don't know how any of this works. Looking on the bright side, if it is a total bust, my DD's won't beg me to go next year - that is if DCGames is even open to the public! :)

And I will stop spending so much time trying to find out good info! Because taking part in this thread is really addictive!

I dont think she said what you wrote was cr@p but what she experienced today was. We know you were helping and everyones experience is different. Dont take it personal, we are just a little disappointed to say the least...
We appreciate your input and ask you continue to share your experiences with us. We learned the grass is open. See someone will benefit from everything posted.

Especially after reading the press release stating how it is for the fans to watch the games and mingle and get autographs from the celebs. Now you cant watch the games and mingling is minimal...
again dont take it personal, just disappointed.

It sounds like a few of us may be planning on Thursday! Does that mean that there will be twice as many there on Thursday as today?!!

Since they aren't even opening the parking lot until 4:00 - I'm not leaving my house (an hour away) until around 1:30-2:00. There's no use in it and I truly can't see WDW letting people sit out on the roadway waiting in a line of cars to get into the parking lot. I just don't know. If the parking lot is CLOSED until 4:00, where are these people planning on sleeping in their cars?

For those going to the concert, when are you arriving there?

When my car gets me there!!! :rotfl2:

Okay sorry I couldn't resist. I plan to arrive by 4 pm I am hoping. We have a dance competition (Showstoppers) in Lakeland and the performance time is 2:15 pm awards 2:30 pm until 3:15 pm then we will load up in the car and head to WWOS!!

lets hope not! but who knows! wow i really things get better throughout the week!

i can't wait to hear absolutely everyone's report of today. doesn't sound good at all so far. :( well at least we have the parade still.... right?

Okay I am going to go out on a limb here and throw out something for everyone to ponder...Could it be possible that the negative reports about the DCG is an attempt to try to persuade people from not coming to the tapings?

Maybe just maybe it really is not that bad? Now, PLEASE no flames!! I was there last year for the taping and the concert so I am not uninformed about this totally. In my opinion the smartest thing that has been said is that Disney should have a Fan Fest that you have to pay to get in and that way everybody wins.

I was supposed to be there this week but my Mom has had major heart surgery this last week and will be having another minor one tomorrow. We are still hopeful to be able to go to the concert but honestly I am in no mood or frame of mind to party or be squished with all the CRAZY teenie bopper fans. My girls are 10 & 5 so they have many more years to partake in the madness.

I hope that you all enjoy no matter what the reality is there and just remember you are in Disney, you are healthy and that the stars are there to raise money for some very worthy charities. Maybe since NONE of us paid for these tickets we could/should donate to one of the charities!!

One more thing...OT...that picture of Miley in the sheet is RIDICULAS and her parents should be ashamed for allowing it to be taken. It totally makes her look trashy, sorry JMHO.

ok people allzie was 100% helpful. Thanks alot! If anyone gets any solid info about which celebs are staying where, let me know. Also are there any plans for fans on friday, something in the parks maybe? Let me know please!!!!

How about camera phones? I have to have my phone and unfortunately, its a camera phone....Did anyone have to surrender their phones to the car?

To be completely honest I was thinking about that.

I was thinking that there are SOME people that might be mean enough to want to get the best seats or view or whatever and discourage others from going just to have a better time.

If there are any people on DIS like that then you should be ashamed.

And if those that are making negative comments because that is what actually happened, please don't take my post to heart. I am not talking about you then.

I hope they don't allow a line of cars, because it's ridiculous, people will be trying to line up Friday afternoon, maybe even Thursday if they're psycho enough. Plus, what about other people who wont drive, are they supposed to get off the bus/tram/bicycle/whatever and then line up BEHIND the people in the cars? Or be roped off elsewhere? Plus those people with alternate transportation only have it at certain times. It all seems pretty unfair.

I think they should either have the parking lot open and allow people to form a line outside WWoS, or prevent ANYONE from arriving prior to 4 which could cause a mass panic of cars trying to be first at 4 and getting in a wreck.

It's all lose-lose to me.
