Disney...by Land and Sea...Morris Style!

I am so bummed that you ran into problems and couldn't get to your cruise. I would be crying too. Since you are letting it go I will too, so onto other things....

I hope you and Rex get to have a Valentine's trip, and if not maybe just a nice night out.

Poor Miss Mia, I know how she doesn't like to "drink her yucky". Maybe the nutritionist can help shed some light on her issues.

First of all...Miss Mia... My daughter's inlaws are telling her the baby's problems all stem from her being a vegetarian for two years before she got pregnant and is nursing her now! She stopped being a veggie several months before she got pregnant...and even if she hadn't it would not have hurt the baby! The only reason she stopped was because she found out that she had a problem digesting some veggies...and the doctor told her it would be easier if she ate some meats...but it would be possible to stay a veggie and be healthy.

Her inlaws were always against her being a veggie and do not understand that nursing her is a healthier option than formula!

Even though Miss Mia isn't gaining weight, she is hitting all her developmental milestones and is a chunky happy baby!

I will step away from that now...

OK...the best way to get over a heartbreak...and let's face it...it WAS a heartbreak! I booked a trip for....eight days from today!

It is just a short 4 day trip during a winter break the kids have, but it is going to be FUN!!!!

Got our dining done on the way home from lunch today...Tusker House, Crystal Palace, Tutto Italia, and Hollywood and Vine. Unfortunately I can't book our FP+ because I am getting the military salute tickets...and they aren't combinable on the magic bands... of course, without tickets you don't get MB any way! LOL!

Now I am in overload mode trying to get everything done and ready and I just finished unpacking last night...and have started packing today!

I am so beyond excited...even if we are staying in a value...yes I am a snob!!!!

So, now to fix my contribution to the Super Bowl party at my son's house and jot down a few more notes for the trip...

Nini

I was so upset for you Nini when I saw this unfold on FB - I cannot imagine how upset you were!

On the + side... I am so happy to hear that you've booked a short Disney trip in a few days - it will be so wonderful!

So sad that the ILs are not being supportive - I doubt that it has anything to do with Miss Mia's problems... I am sure that they are just as baffled as everyone and want to have someone to blame. Which does not make it any easier on anyone else. (((Hugs)))

Her inlaws are like that... my mother in law was too. It took me YEARS to realize that some people just have to complain and blame someone for the problems ...especially when they feel out of control. I used to tell my mother in law I could tell she was happy because she was complaining! (I miss her!) Unfortunately, Amanda knows that Korey's parents did not approve of the marriage... so it is hard for her to take any negativity from them...especially when it comes to her mothering skills ... which are pretty good by the way!

I am taking a break from paper work... The launch is tomorrow and I am attempting to redo the Practice Writer...see I did it once, remember all that internet issues I was having last week? Well, I though I had saved it, but the internet was evidently out and it did not save... and now, I can't seem to remember the words I used and it just isn't sounding right.

Add to that that I still do not have pictures..and the Princess has a sinus infection going on and has refused to take pictures....so the manny will have to do...except it is raining! Mud just doesn't look good with the outfit! LOL!

I took some inside and attempted to edit them...and photo bucket has decided NOT to save the edited version, but prefers to put the unedited version on my PW!

I am now getting ready to put an ad out for an assistant...you only work once every two moths, and all you have to do is take pictures and do the PW! I really think that is why I never want to do more than one outfit per launch! The paperwork takes away all the fun.

I have been working on this since I got up at 5... and it is now 11:30...I am no closer than I was at 5:30. What a waste of a day, and I have tons of packing to do.

By the way, I was able to snag a Be Our Guest lunch FP for our Magic Kingdom day! I am so excited about that...see the first time I was planning this trip I had managed to get an ADR for dinner at BOG on the very same day I found out about the cruise, so I had to cancel it.

And ....just in case people think I am extravagant or spontaneous....let me tell you...that is so not me. I am about as cheap as they come. I rarely actually spend money (except for groceries)

My husband and I have three home based businesses we run in addition to my husband's 12 hour a day work in law enforcement. When we were doing the organization to get the taxes done, we realized we missed some business expenses last year...and it is going to cost us this year...so to prevent that from happening again, we took an unexpected wind fall and put it back in the businesses. I had planned on getting a new computer for my business, but could not find one I really wanted (for the price I was willing to pay...remember I am cheap!) The I realized I could take a Disney trip, going with the express purpose of visiting the Values and write part of it off (a small part, but still a part!) So, after some research and checking, the decision was made to plan a trip for a couple days just to visit the Value resorts.

While it may seem that I decided on the spur of the moment to take a Disney trip, this trip has actually been planned and cancelled about three times. The first planning happened when I realized in October that I needed more business expenses and did not have time to take a trip... it is really neat that the timing happened to still work! (and my husband had been whining about not getting to go!)

Now...if I could just get back in the mood to get that stupid paper work done so I could sell this outfit...this is why I end up putting a small price on it just to get it out of my house! LOL!

I really feel bad for your daughter. It is not right that her in laws are saying negative things about Miss Mia's condition. I hope she doesn't blame herself but having someone say those things to you, even if it is an uneducated and mean thing to say, still has to hurt. ESPECIALLY if they are the grandparents of your baby.

I was going to say that, based on the pictures you have posted of Miss Mia lately, that she didn't look like she was underweight but I didn't want to hurt any feelings. :goodvibes I love to see a chubby little baby and I thought at the time that her weight is probably shifting around since she is more active now. In any case, I'm sure the doctors have said that there is nothing to worry about since she is thriving.

Super bonus that part of this little trip can be written off. It is nice to live within driving distance to WDW - saves so much money and allows for last minute trips. Although this was your planned trip and your cruise was the last minute trip but in any case I'm glad you guys are getting to go. This is a good makeup to Mr. D since he didn't get to have a party while you were out of town. :rotfl2:

And bonus for getting all your ADRs and a lunch FP+ for Be our Guest. We had lunch there in January and it was yummy. It was also a great way for my sister and her family to see the castle since I couldn't get a dinner ADR for her trip.

I don't know how you (or Chiara for that matter) keep up with all the demands of running a household, businesses and your DH's crazy schedule. That schedule alone would make me crazy :scared:

She knows intellectually that it is their insane way of 'helping', but it doesn't really take the sting away. She has been in their family for 6 years andyou would think she will eventually start developing a thicker skin.... but she has always been my sensitive one. And, truthfully, when they are not here sh handles it really well...just that they were visiting last week and it made things a little rough.

(They are actually part of the reason I work so hard to not be the type of mother in law that you hear about all the time...so far I am being successful...we will see what happens when the next daughter in law comes around...it might be a bit harder!)

Mommy has been overly sensitive to Mia weight ever since she was born. She had so many feeding issues after she was born, that she has her own spread sheet with her weight on it and checks her weight once a week. She tries to understand that each scale is going to be a bit different, but the bottom line is ALL the baby books say she should have doubled her birth weight a long time ago...and at age 9 months she hasn't. She still needs to gain about two and a half pounds to go to be at the double the weight mark.

GRRRRRRR

The teacher that was on trial in Atlanta for abusing her special needs students (one of them by locking the child in a closet! WHICH IS AN ILLEGAL ACT!!!!) had all her charges dropped by a judge! Teachers get immunity if they are trying to maintain order! I am so livid! I was so hoping that this so called teacher would have the book thrown at her!!! Locking children in isolation rooms is NOT maintaining order! Hitting students who are non verbal is NOT maintaining order! It is ABUSE!

sorry...on that note I will get off the computer.....

The news story about that teacher is so upsetting.

Are you counting the minutes until warmer weather?

I'm so sorry for the things the MIL is saying. Seriously, NOT her place!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for a trip...I'm so happy for you.

Maybe not counting the hours...but more like 2 days, 21 hours, 41 minutes and 29 seconds....

Of course, I woke up this morning with a wonderful sinus headache. (which is the way my colds start...so I have started my "get rid of germs so I won't get sick for a trip" routine which includes tons of OJ!

I guess my daughter is going to have to develop a thicker skin. She has been part of that family long enough to know that they will not change. It is hard for her to fathom a family that is so full of negativity. In our house if it wasn't nice you didn't say it...unless you were teasing...and we all know that while teasing can hurt, it is done in love. And if you hurt, you apologize. Her inlaw's opinion is that as long as it is either true or their opinion no apologies needed.

Disney news...

I added the dining plan to our trip yesterday! I know I should have done it at the beginning...but husband had not made up his mind (even though I am paying for it) so I waited. Almost too long. It has to be added before the 72 hour mark. As you can see from my count down above, I was just barely within my window...but there is no rooms available. Which is scarey!

Since it was a room only reservation with the military discount...in order to add the dining plan you have to cancel and rebook. Normally, they just do a flat cancel, refund the money and then rebook. But since there were no rooms, they had to do some trick-age of the system to make it work, and only a supervisor can do it... a little over an hour later we had it taken care of!

Of course...the CM I was talking to...has relatives that live in my neighborhood...and his cousin was one of my daughter's friends in high school! You have to know I live in a small town...very small town! He could not remember the name of the subdivision, but he could remember the name of a couple of the roads you have to go on to get there and I was able to fill in the blanks...like you go down Ho Hum Hollow road until you get to the gated community and then the road changes name.... Yup... that is exactly the way we give directions here! And yes...I was singing Its a Small World in my mind as we were talking!

However...Walton County Georgia is going to be very well represented at Disney next week...my husband has convinced a couple of other people that are tied to the school calendar that next week is a good time to go...so we have a school resource officer as well as a couple of school bus drivers planning on being at Disney !!!

Well, the Main Street Boutiques had our launch and it ended last night...as usual, I did not sell anything. I think this was probably my last launch with them. While I enjoy making the outfits, I do not enjoy the photography or the templates or the stress of trying to get it all done up to the standards of the group. It used to be a fun process from beginning to end...but now, I find it more of a chore than fun. So, between that and the tax ramifications I think I will do only embroidery for locals and maybe make one or two outfits a year. The grand Princess no longer appreciates the dresses, so at least I still have Miss Mia to sew for! (maybe my this time next year I will have another grand baby to sew for... wishful thinking?)

Any way.... can you believe I have not really started packing? All the luggage is upstairs, and on the dining room table...but nothing is packed. I have stacks of t shirts and blue jeans on the buffet...but nothing in the actual luggage... that should change today! Miss Mia's mommy has an appointment that I have to drive them to this morning...and then I will sequester myself in the packing center, not to be allowed out until at least 90% of the packing is completed! (so, of course, that means we will be going out to dinner tonight!)

In case you are wondering...there is a big sign on the back of my front door...it says "DON'T FORGET YOUR ID!!!!!"

Yup...that was my husband's contribution to the packing! LOL!

Have a great day!

Nini

PS...I did not want to close out without thanking everyone who commented on FB or here about the teacher in Atlanta that got off with the child abuse...this story hit VERY close to home... I really needed the justice system to throw the book at her to feel vindicated in what happened to Mr D. Not only did the justice system fail all those kids that teacher in Atlanta hurt, but it failed my son as well (even though he was not involved in that case) When I picked up Mr D yesterday...the teacher in question in our county...had the nerve to wave and smile at me as I was waiting in car pool lane..it was very deliberate and obvious. I pretended not to see her...after a few minutes she went inside. I'm sure she felt that the judge throwing the other case out means that she was within her rights to lock my child in a closet.... The justice system failed!

First - I just wish I could drop everything one day and plan a short/impromptu trip to WDW - that would be SOOOO much fun! I am so excited for you and so glad that you get to do this - I know missing your cruise was such a bummer, but I am happy that you can do this instead.

Yes - I like Rex's contribution to packing... DON'T FORGET YOUR ID!!!!

I am really bummed that your outfit didn't sell... I really loved it a lot - and if there was a snowball's chance in he!! I could fit in it - I would buy it from you in a heartbeat!!! I just loved the shirt and I loved all of the appliques on the skirt! If you are still selling it - I would be happy to put a link on my fanpage for you to help promote it. It probably wouldn't help - but I'd love to help you get it sold if I can.

I am not sure if I commented about the teacher yesterday, if I didn't - it was only because I was at Target all day... but please know - I also feel that it was such an injustice - and very VERY wrong... I am still shocked she got away with it. And to have Mr. D's former teacher to mock you like that - unforgiveable! I wish that the both of you would have got the justice you deserved, and I am horrified that the system failed at protecting the child... There is just something horribly wrong with that! (((hugs)))

I hope you are able to get all of your packing done today!

D~

Phew, so glad you got your trip reworked so that you can use the dining plan. Yummy yummy yummy. Too funny that the CM knew where you lived! Oh, your DH is so helpful!!!! LOL. Maybe you should "forget" his underwear and when he complains just say "at least I didn't forget my ID" and then pull them out of the other suitcase. ;)

The launch outfit you made was adorable. I saw a few items that were still selling so I wonder if folks are just not in a buying mood lately. I do like D~s idea of posting it on her fan page. There might be lots of people out there that are not aware of the launches, etc. I'm glad Miss Mia is still young enough to let her dress you, you make so very adorable sets that don't look too uncomfortable for a long day in the parks.

The nerve of that teacher makes me so mad. :furious: I don't know how a judge in this day and age could make such a decision. To do those things to a child is unacceptable but doing it to a child that can't control their behavior and can not communicate for themselves is unforgivable.

Now get packing.....

I feel for your daughter and all the feeding and pooping issues. My MIL was very negative.

You are going to have a fabulous time. Just wish our trips overlapped.

My outfits didn't sell either. I took the easy way out and did a collage. PW gives me a headache. Mine are now in my etsy shop :)

Oh and Sami hasn't doubled her birth weight. She will probably just be there at her 9 month appointment.

I love your hubby's contribution to the packing. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

We are off to Dubuque tomorrow early a.m. to see our son who had surgery earlier this week and won't be back until late Sunday. So if I don't get back here before you leave (Monday will be nuts at work with me taking off tomorrow), I hope you have a wonderful trip.

Thanks for the offer...I think I will wait until next week to make any decisions about the dress...I have added it to my page, but other than that I will not worry about it. It will probably be added to my customs cabinet...and maybe a Big Give will come up that can use this size. I just have problems when making RTS...I can never figure out exactly what everyone will want... so even when someone wants another size...I am always stuck with one! LOL!

About the bolded area....I knew what you meant, but the way you wrote it was much better! (I will leave my comment at that!

I LOVE your idea! Unfortunately...this is the first trip EVER (and remember I am talking about 36+ years here!) he actually is the first person packed! I think I may have underestimated his true desire to go!

I did get a note from our attorney... they want us to reconsider our decision not to sue. They are hoping a civil suit will bring renewed attention to the issue and hopefully open the way to criminal charges. I am waiting to see if any of the children involved in the Fulton County case file... It is not really something I want to dredge up again... but we will see...

I am not 100% sure that I could do a collage. It used to be really easy to do a collage in Photobucket (and Flicker for that matter) But the last few times I tried I was less than successful!

To me it looked like the same old things were selling... nothing new. I used to love to see all the new things...new ideas, new fabrics...now it seems everyone is going with the same safe ideas.

Let's face it...I am not cut out for the boutique world! LOL!

Kathy...just wanted to say...speedy recovery to your son. I know when I had my rotator cuff surgery, I felt great on the second day...unfortunately it was the drugs talking...I actually went out and tried to start my garden...and I re-tore it! I was VERY lucky that it wasn't bad and an extra two months of physical torture 'fixed' it!

Trip notes...

Yesterday was a lost day! By the time I got all the projects finished for my kids I had zero time or energy for anything else. The clothes are all thrown on top of my dining room table, and now it is time for me to artfully arrange in luggage!

Husband had my van detailed yesterday evening...which was very nice and sweet..but totally un needed. I had already cleaned it and was waiting until Sunday afternoon to run it through the car wash. It is really hard for my cheap self to think about spending 100 plus dollars to have a car cleaned... Yes, it looks nice...but it si going to rain this weekend...and we will still be running it through the car wash on Sunday!

Husband also went shopping for the odds and ends...like breakfast foods and snack foods...so at least that is done. All I have to do today is to pack...call the wheelchair people to make sure the reservation went through (I didn't get an email confirmation this time)..triple check all meds are here... print out some park maps.... and a few things I can't remember right now.

I also have to say I am a little upset with Disney at the moment...I have a client that is having issues with their ME stuff. This is the third time trying to get it right...and while I KNOW they can travel without it...it makes me very angry that I keep being told it is corrected and it isn't. So I will spend a good part of the morning on the phone....

In case I don't get back on here this weekend...have a great weekend!

Nini

I did chuckle about your FB comment last night... About you needing to get another shirt, but the only thing in your driveway you could drive was the police car, since your van was being detailed. To be quite honest... I think the police car would have been appropriate for you... You could just turn on the lights and sirens to run grab your shirt and be home in a jiffy! ;) Problem solved.

I hope that everything goes smoothly for your customer... I have no doubt you will get this resolved as much as you possibly can. It's just sad that it's such a mess for them.

Have a great day with the remainder of your packing! Which day do you leave?

D~

Lol. I leave Sunday night/ Monday morning at 3am.

My middle son was staying at our house on one of our previous trips. (It was the time our car was broken into just before we left). We asked that the police car be brought back as soon as it was serviced. They dropped it off but left it at the neighbors house!!!

My son was given permission to move it to our drive way. He took it for a spin around the neighborhood a few times before he finally parked it!!

Have a fabulous trip Nini.

I am sorry your customer is having a rough time with ME.

Have a fabulous trip Nini.

I am sorry your customer is having a rough time with ME.

The part that bothers me the most is that it is a known Disney glitch. When people on one reservation are coming from more than one place the system automatically accepts the first thing put in and ignores the rest! To me it should not be hard to fix. Once upon a time I worked in IT...this SHOULD be an easy programing fix...

THEN...once Disney manually goes in and fixes it...and TELL me they are mailing a new booklet out...why is my client still not receiving it 10 days later? One of my biggest pet peeves is for someone to say they are doing something and then not doing it...I understand things happen. When I worked in the corporate world, if I said I was doing something and did not get it done...I called and/or emailed to let them know I screwed up. And then I DID IT! I did not try to hide the fact that I screwed up...I did not try and blame it on the postal service...I owned up!

OK, calming down now! At least I think we have my client's issues taken care of....and I have a plan in place in case they have a problem.

I got my first Disney email this morning about my first dining reservation at Tusker House! I am so excited! That makes it so much more real! My plans did call for me to start loading the van up today...we leave in exactly 36 hours! But my son borrowed my van last night to got the circus. He took his nephews....My husband told him if they messed up the van he had better not bring it back until it was spotless....and well...he didn't bring it back.

I am guessing I won't be seeing my van until around noon. Which really sucks for me since I had some early morning errands I needed to run. As usual...what ever I have for last minute plans always get pushed to the back burner because my family decides they need something right before I leave. Seems like I would remember that and not schedule anything right before I leave...hmmmmm...I have never had so much trouble learning a simple lesson like this before!

I will not be packing away the laptop until tomorrow evening...so I should be able to give a proper goodbye tomorrow...or not! LOL!

You are right - this DOES happen to you every single time! I hope you area ble to get everything packed up and loaded on time. And your van comes back nice and clean, asap.

So excited for this trip for you!!!

D~

Ahem...my van is back...with a full tank of gas....suspicious yet...

I went to get in it and back out of the drive way....and the gear shift fell off in my hand!

Yup, that's right. The GEAR SHIFT FELL OFF IN MY HAND! And even worse, as I screamed, something went flying to the back of the van!

The button assembly inside the gear shift is made of plastic. Evidently the locking ring inside broke...and it will no longer stay on. I IMMEDIATELY called my son...his response was, I thought you knew about that it was like that when I picked it up! NOT!

He came back and showed me how to put it back on...but it will not stay. It comes off in your hand as you take your hand away!

So I called the dealership. The whole thing has to be replaced as one. They do not have one in stock. They have ordered it for me at a price of $71.00!!

Husband just came by the house and thinks he can fix it for now...

Used an Allen Wrench from MY tools and tightened up the set screw! It will have to be replaced when we get back, but it should hold for a couple of weeks the way it is...
(And I put the Allen Wrench in the glove box...just in case!)

DRAMA! LOL!

I'm going to go get something completely unhealthy for lunch...maybe McDonald's even! It is like my alcoholic drink....
