Disney...by Land and Sea...Morris Style!

Does that mean we might meet at a Disney property SOME WHERE during February?

----------------------------------------------------------------------v

Remind me again when you are thinking of a trip.....

Ok... The "we" part of your possible trip has me very intrigued. I was leaning towards a solo trip but now I am second guessing myself.

And a possible Cheryl meet up! You ladies can't keep us in the dark forever.

I should find out SOMETHING today...If I was selected for the solo I will be over the moon excited! If not, then I will be on the phone trying to arrange a very quick Disney trip for the family...

I had to come on here to tell you a funny.

My daughter is a very particular person. She and her husband were made for each other! This is extremely funny to me...since when she was a teen getting her to even clean her room enough to SEE the floor was a struggle! To see her become such a 'particular' person now is beyond funny!

Her husband HATES dogs. They are nothing but germ ridden beasts that are only allowed if you live on a farm and they work. My daughter grew up with dogs and cats in the house.

I am sure most of you have heard my rants about Mr Max. He is my husband's latest addition to the family. He is about 130 pounds of energy! He is 2 years old, but is a puppy in so many ways! He went to boarding school while we were in Disney. He was gone for a month of extensive training. We have been less than good with keeping up with his training, but he does have some manners now and isn't banished to the back yard when someone comes over.

Yesterday I had to take my machines to the spa. It was a long 2 hour drive and then we had to wait another 4 hours for them to be fixed and then come home...so my daughter picked up Mr D from school.

Somehow, 'someone' let Mr Max out of the house when they were all coming in...Mr Max, loves my daughter, Amanda, and ran straight to her. Then he politely jumped into her brand new van and sat in the back seat! (At this point she was very happy they had leather seats so the dog hair would be easy to clean!)

But he did not want to get out of the van!

So they got the leash to help persuade him.

To him, the leash means he misbehaved and has to be reminded.

He also had been inside the house ALL DAY LONG!

He got so scared...he peed all over her back seat!

Miss Amanda no longer loves Mr Max!

However, Miss Mia thinks all the screaming and hollering (not to mention all the big sloppy wet kisses she got from the big hairy puppy) absolutely divine!

My daughter did ask me if I would pay to have her car detailed.....

Nini

Ha HA HA I can't wait for the stories when Miss Mia makes big messes for Mommy and Daddy to clean up :)

Poor Mr. Max.

So any possibility you may be in Disney in February when I am :)

Oh my gosh... That is sooo funny! I would be LIVID if MM did that to me! Although, yesterday, I had to haul things in from my Edge, and MM was outside with me - he tried to jump in the back hatch... He LOVES going for rides... Although - I have NEVER let him ride in the hatch... He always rides shot-gun.

I hope your next trip is coming together nicely.

D~

Nini, I thought you would appreciate this. Each year my husband laments the lack of Christmas sweatshirts for men, so I made him one this year. I'm home only for two days at a time so this was a rush job with thread I had on hand and a hastily purchased sweatshirt. I'd love to redo it with more thought put into it.

Hopefully the last week of February and first couple days of March. When I first made reservations in July the idea was to go to Aulani for six nights and then take the NCL cruise to see the other islands. Then my mother happened, putting the trip in jeopardy (which it still is). Disney also came out with a promotion to buy three nights and get the fourth free PLUS free breakfast each morning, so I changed to 8 nights at Aulani and pretty much nixed the cruise. Coming from New York its a long haul so I'd really like to make it worthwhile, but it is what it is.

:beach: (Last time I went to Hawaii I saw Don Ho. Last time my husband went he was on RnR from Vietnam.)

After I gasped at the Mr. Max story I did giggle a bit. I do feel bad for your DD but it is a very funny story. :lmao:

And since Miss Mia loves Mr Max so much I can see lots of play dates for those two in the future.

One of the two scenarios have us at Disney the week of Valentine's Day! The other is more like Super Bowl weekend. Still haven't heard from the powers that be to know which one wea re going to be able to do.

Mommy and Daddy are already upset with the amount of "STUFF" thAt a baby brings into their nice orderly house! My husband says it looks like someone finally lives there! I can't wait for her actual messes!

Oh my gosh... That is sooo funny! I would be LIVID if MM did that to me! Although, yesterday, I had to haul things in from my Edge, and MM was outside with me - he tried to jump in the back hatch... Funny...Mr Max never tries to get in my van...but LOVES to travel in Rex's truck. I have no idea why he jumped in her car!!

My trip is now in the hands of other people..and I hate loosing that control! My husband thinks it is funny watching me run around trying to plan two complete opposites! Less than a month for either option!

Nini, I thought you would appreciate this. Each year my husband laments the lack of Christmas sweatshirts for men, so I made him one this year. Love it Cheryl!

I want to go to Hawaii so bad! Husband was stationed there in 1972 until 1976-ish. The actual stay there is not bad...it is just the airfare for 4 that kills me!

After I gasped at the Mr. Max story I did giggle a bit. I do feel bad for your DD but it is a very funny story. :lmao:

And since Miss Mia loves Mr Max so much I can see lots of play dates for those two in the future.

She adores my two small dogs. Puppy is one of the words she has been saying for a while. She has never really had any interaction with Mr Max until recently. After his 'schooling' he has been a tad bit calmer so we aren't afraid he will know her over or step on her now. She is fascinated with him. Our last German Shepherd was the Grand Princess favorite playmate. I think it bothered her more than my two when he passed away a few years ago.

Just to show you how Mom and Dad are... when she comes over, we have to re-sanitize all the toys that were sanitized when they were put up before she plays with them (because it is obvious that the dogs may have looked at them in the basket up on the shelf) When Mr Max sees Miss Mia he can not walk by her without giving her a big sloppy kiss! Daddy is not happy about the germ transference!

Following along! :)

Glad to see you, hope I don't bore you too much!

Trip news...

STILL waiting! Since the deadline for registration was yesterday I had hoped I would hear something ... guess it will be Monday before I know for sure. Although in the past, if they filled up for training before you registered it would tell you immediately... so I am hopeful...but I HATE WAITING! LOL!

Now, to go straighten my house. We have tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings out an I need to have everything picked up before Miss Mia and her family get here...the advantage of having a finished basement in Georgia!

Nini

Grrr....

Those that know me, know I HATE waiting on other people...for anything! I am NEVER late to an appointment. Period! If you tell me you will be somewhere at a specific time...I EXPECT you to be there at the time you say. If I am waiting for you to make a decision...I EXPECT you to make the decision. If a website says a sale ends at a particular time...I EXPECT it to be so.

So, here I am...waiting on the Powers That Be to make a decision so I can finish MY plans!

At this point I am ready to tell them I have changed my mind and to take my name out of consideration...but it will cost me $75 to do that! So, being the cheap person I am...I will wait...but not patiently! LOL!

Husband has gotten permission to take off in February for a Disney trip, but I can't make the actual reservation yet...because we are less than a month out, and the amount of money we would loose (if we have to cancel) is unacceptable! (remember...I am CHEAP!)

To top it off...Be Our Guest became available for our Magic Kingdom night for dinner... but the amount of changes I would have to make are a bit more than I am ready to do for a trip that may not happen!

But I am ready to give some information about the family trip to Disney, that may or may not happen!

The kids are out of school the week before Valentine's Day. We have always thought this would be a great time to visit. In fact our first visit where we actually stayed on property was that time of year. And it was a very quickly thrown together trip. We got our income tax refund the first week of February and we were in Disney before the month ended! It was our last trip before the accident.

We will leave on Sunday after church services and lunch. This will put us in Disney somewhere around 7 ish. We will be staying at Pop Century using military rates. (which is the only way this will work...and those who have tried to get those rates, know they go fast! I keep checking every morning to make sure they are still available!)

Monday we plan on visiting Animal Kingdom with dinner either at Rainforest Cafe or maybe Garden Grill in Epcot.
Tuesday will be for Hollywood Studios. Dinner this night is still up in the air. Since DHS closes at 7 this night, we may end up at another park for dinner.
Wednesday will be Magic Kingdom with current plans call for Crystal Palace, but if I could get a Be Our Guest I would be happier!
Thursday calls for a full day at Epcot with my husband's favorite place of all..Biergarten!
Friday will find us checking out and heading home.

We will probably have breakfast somewhere our last morning... that is part of the plans we haven't quite decided on.

So far I have reservations for both Crystal Palace and Biergarten.

Still a bit sketchy...and since I will be getting the Military Salute tickets, I can't link them and get any FP+. Another problem with the trip!!!

But, since I have always stayed moderate, and we are staying Deluxe for my birthday trip, I decided I needed to stay at a Value at least once. It is research, right? A Business expense....

We have budgeted 2000 for the trip...and it will ONLY work if I get the military salute tickets and the military discount for the room! So if that doesn't happen the trip will be sunk.

Two notes of importance today...one we will be house looking this morning. As the economy is getting a bit better we are thinking of moving again. The sinking housing market has been our main issue. We remodeled the basement into a separate apartment for my mother after we bought this house. Making our house the largest and most expensive in the neighborhood. (6 bedroom 3 bath, 2 kitchens and living areas) With the depressed housing market we could not come close to getting what we put into it! (Barely what we owe on it!) So we had to put those plans on hold and in the process we lost out on our dream house.

Now that the market is inching back up, there is a possibility we can get at lest what we owe on this house... It is a fine line we have to tread so we can still afford the house we really want! We have appointments to look at 3 houses this morning. One we have already seen and fell in love with 2 years ago. The current owners have remodeled the basement and the pool is fantastic!

The other big thing is Miss Mia is going to Atlanta to visit with a specialist. She has had some tummy issues since she was born. Since she was a tad bit early (between 3 and 4 weeks) they have been thinking her issues would take care of themselves, but over the last three months she has actually lost weight. She has a BM on average of once every two weeks and only then because of massive doses of milk of Magnesia.

Miss Mia's daddy also has to travel to Birmingham this morning for his annual heart/cancer screening. He is the oldest survivor of a surgical correction of a very rare heart condition. When he was 12 hours old he had an experimental open heart surgery to correct a backwards heart. He was the first infant to survive. Since then, it has had a very good success rate (over 50%) but it was several years before any other child survived. So the pediatric cardiologist that pioneered the surgery is still following him annually. Plus he is a survivor of lymphoma. In fact they had to postpone the wedding because he got behind on his chemo due to an emergency appendectomy! His last chemo was on Tuesday and they were married on Saturday. Their honeymoon was spent with him still sick.

So, daddy will be in Birmingham with his parents seeing his doctors, while Miss Mia and mommy will be with me in Atlanta having her first visit with the specialist.

It is going to be a long day today!

Nini

Just got in from a LONG day and I really need to get dinner done.

But...

I am going on a Disney cruise at the end of this month! It is official!

My registration for training was accepted and ...well, now I have to start packing! I leave in 17 days!

Nini

Yesterday was a very long day... we started by being late for our house hunting appointment! well, only by 10 minutes, but we were on a tight schedule! We were supposed to be there at 10because I had to pick up my daughter at 12. Luckily we only had 3 houses to look at.

Not a lot of success ... out of the three, one had a great yard and meh house, one had a great house and an unusable yard, and the other had a great pool, great yard, and older house that needed a bit of remodeling... None of the remodeling was something we couldn't do...but we weren't sure we were ready to pull the plug and go for it...

Then we made it to pick up my daughter for her trip to Atlanta. The appointment went well. The doctor was a pediatric GI who specializes in the type of problem Miss Mia is having, so when he said to take a wait and see attitude, my daughter was more comfortable. He gave us an action plan...super stuff to clean her out and then daily meds for a month to help her learn how to go....and another check up in a month.

Unfortunately, the medicine he said to use is not something they make any more, so we had to do some detective work to find something that had a close enough formula to work... thank you 10000 times to the pharmacist who took the extra mile to help! (to get the one the doctor said would cost us several hundred dollars over the course of the month...instead we were able to find something that only cost $5 for a month supply!)

Then, as we were driving back home, we learned of her Daddy's first appointment. The cardiologist did not have a great report. His heart is leaking (not to be confused with the hole in his heart between two chambers that is NOT supposed to be there) The leak is something he developed as a teen...but it has never been a major issue until now. It is causing some pressure issues within the heart and his heart rate is slowing when he is sleeping to a dangerous level, He needs a pace maker.

Unfortunately (this is where the hole in his heart comes in) the hole is such that they cannot put a pacemaker in, because there is too great a chance of the pacemaker slipping into a different chamber.

Let me stop here and say all this makes perfect sense to me and it probably sounds like gobblety goop to you... But remember ...he was born with a heart that is backwards...it pumps from the wrong side and only one side of his heart pumps correctly...so lets say the blood is running clockwise through YOUR body, it is running counter clockwise through HIS body. Clear as mud?

The procedure they need to do to fix the problem so he can have the pace maker put in has a high risk of failure. To the point that if it does not work, he will need a heart transplant!

The procedure MUST be done within the next two months...as soon as they can get the insurance to approve it.

Because his condition is so rare, they are not sure that a heart transplant would even work... imagine having all your blood suddenly reverse direction.
When he was born, the first open heart surgery was done when he was a few hours old. No one expected him to live. Before him the surgery had never been successful. He was the first one to survive. He will be 30 in a few days. So...he is the oldest survivor with his condition.

His doctor is now old...same doctor has been following him since birth. He is now considered to be the leading expert in this field, but is unsure if this will work...but they are getting to the point that they have no choice...

My son in law has always been very active and athletic. He played football and baseball in high school and was scouted by several college teams for baseball.... to now hear he may need a heart transplant is beyond strange!

On the good news front...his oncologist did say he is now considered to be cancer free as there have been no recurrence in 5 years! And he is now on an every 3 year screening....

So..... that is how my day went yesterday.... a roller coaster! And somewhere during all that mess I got the email telling me I was accepted for the Disney Cruise training! Today we are back to the grind of therapy!!!

Where I will be making tons of lists and charts for the cruise! Sixteen days I will be leaving on a big boat....

Nini

Sorry I am so far behind Nini...

So happy to hear that your trip is FOR SURE! Lucky duck! And very jealous! Wish I could go for the sake of "research" LOL.

I hope you are able to find a house that is deserving of your family. Josh mentioned something to me the other day... About how if he got a job at a different hospital, the town my dad is now living in would be perfect for us... I'd love nothing more than to move home... But I doubt it will ever happen. We are in the same boat as you are.

Happy to hear that Mia's appt went well, and you were able to find a medication for her.

Very sad to hear that her Dad's appt did not go as well. I am praying hard that this procedure works for him. Please keep us updated.

16 days!!!! I would be going crazy!

D~

So on the Cruise news front... I have made a reservation at Country Inn & Suites. They have a Cruise and park special. For around $135.00 I get a room for the night, a free parking place for my car, a free breakfast and a free shuttle to the port. The parking is $60 at the dock. A room is going to be about $100...so I figure this is a good idea!

I have checked all the reports and reviews on every board I can get my hands on. Everyone gives this place high marks...so I think it is a great deal! I was thinking of staying at Disney for the night, but since the family will need a place to stay for the beach portion of the cruise in October, I might as well check it out now!

So...15 days from today I will be well on my way to Port Canaveral! I will be making some more packing lists at therapy in a few minutes! Sheesh!

Cheryl I am dying to go to Aulani. Oh and my grandma loved Don HO and saw him when she went to Hawaii.

Nini I am excited about your cruise.

We have stayed at a number of Country Inn & Suites and they are very nice hotels. I think you did great with that rate.

Thanks...it seems Dad is very much in the fast zone of moving...something happened that he was uncomfortable with...I'll update that part in a minute.

Miss Mia had a bad experience with the meds that the specialist gave her..lots of cramping and screaming and NO results. He wants to see her back tomorrow....

Cheryl I am dying to go to Aulani. Oh and my grandma loved Don HO and saw him when she went to Hawaii.

Nini I am excited about your cruise.

Did I mention that my husband hated Don Ho....LOL...I tild him he was just jealous!

I have more cruise notes below!

We have stayed at a number of Country Inn & Suites and they are very nice hotels. I think you did great with that rate.

Thanks Kathy...all the reviews were so good it was almost like it was too good to be true! We will definitely be staying there in October...but.....

When adding the gas to and from, then the hotel room (even though it was a good deal) I will actually save over a hundred dollars by flying...and husband will not have to take as many days off to watch the kids. Plus, there is no way I have to worry about missing any of Mr D's appointments...

So...

I, the claustrophobic terrified of flying girl, will be flying!

It is funny...but as my 13 year old said...she knew the cheap side of me would win out over the claustrophobic!

And when you add in that stress brings on migraines, there is a good chance that I would have a migraine before I made the trip there...and this way I can take my meds for seasickness and not worry about it making me drowsy.

OK...that is all the justification I can manage on that...I am VERY anxious about the flying part, but I will be fine...

On the moving front. As you know we we live in constant fear of the bio parents of my younger two coming around. Last we heard both mother and grand mother were in Colorado. Bio dad has disappeared off the face of the earth after gaining early release from prison.

Something happened on Monday that has my husband (a police officer) worried. When Miss B came home from school a woman was parked in front of our house. She was standing beside the car and tried to speak to B as she got off the bus. Miss B is way too shy to speak to anyone she doesn't know...so she ran in the house and locked the doors behind her.

While we don't know who this woman is or was...something about it worried my husband. I know he has 'friends' in other states keeping an eye out for bio parents and keeps tabs on them the best he can...He remains very tight lipped about what he thinks is going on, but did ask me if I still thought bios were in CO...and has been cleaning the garage, fixing small plumbing issues etc...the types of things you need to do to put your house on the market.

He did make the comment that he would feel better once we were living somewhere where they did not know our location...

So, while we are not yet panicking... we are being cautious.

Of course, I am too busy trying to get the cruise stuff worked out to even think about moving!

The fabric I ordered for my sundress should be in today...but with only two weeks to get it done...and a launch outfit to finish...I am not sure I will get it finished in time! So, option 2 is ready (just in case!)

Nini

Forgot to add...Hubby is really more upset about not going back to Disney in Feb than I thought he would be! Yesterday he asked me at least a dozen times..."You mean we AREN'T going back to Disney next month?"

Seriously trying to see if there is a way to swing a short trip....maybe I should start playing the lottery...

Nini

First off... I wish that Josh would eagerly approach trips... Some day - I hope he will.

Secondly - I think you are VERY smart to be house hunting now. That incident would truly freak me out (in any circumstance, and certainly in your circumstances) - and I would want to move asap. Wow... I can understand why your DH is nervous and in serious purging/packing mode.

Very excited that you are going on a cruise in just a few short days - it's going to be so much fun. When I get down to a size and shape I am happy with - I want to reward myself with a cruise, it would be so much fun!

You will get every thing done - I am sure of it.

D~

I used to have a serious fear of flying (I won't go into the reasons). And, in all truthfulness, it no longer bothers me. After I took my first girls trip in January 2012, I knew I would be okay. If I can fly with not knowing how the weather is going to be, a little turbulence, etc., I'd be okay. I no longer squeeze my hubby's arm to death as we take off, land, with turbulence, etc.
I have a feeling you will be fine.

I'm sorry that the February trip isn't working out. Too cute that your hubby keeps asking about it. As I posted in my TR, I am excited as we get a day and a half trip in March that was unexpected (we weren't sure Mark would have a job, let alone a business trip to Florida).

and this is why i am nervous about C and high school.

I love that your DH is upset about missing february it is adorable.

I wish I could go back to being home when she gets off the bus...but since I am forced to shuttle Mr D to a school outside our district there is no way. She is only home by herself for at the most 20 minutes...but it is a tad bit scarey.

Just remember...when you are ready to go on a cruise...if you don't mind having a short notice...those military rates are awesome! You can usually only get a month at the most notice...but since you qualify for them....

My problem with flying stems primarily form my claustrophobia.

My very first flight was in the early 70's. I flew to Miami from Atlanta during all the hijackings to Cuba! In fact, the very flight I was on was hijacked just a day before. I was supposed to arrive in Miami at 3pm...at 7pm we were still sitting on the runway! We were made to get off the plane and back on at least 5 times...and they ended up putting us on a different plane...no explanations at all! I was 16 flying by myself!

THAT did not scare me from flying... Flew to Europe and back (the coming back part was on a Med-Evac...basically a cargo plane with a few seats thrown in) and THAT didn't bother me. I was scheduled to fly a week after 911...and THAT didn't bother me... but when I flew to Colorado for business I experienced a small panic attack..brought on by claustrophobia! I haven't flown since.

and this is why i am nervous about C and high school.

I love that your DH is upset about missing february it is adorable.

High School in general scares me!

I was lucky with the first set...My oldest daughter had a brother in the grade above her...and he politely told everyone that was his baby sister and no one touch her...worked like a charm!

Well, that and everyone knowing her dad carried a gun!

I normally do not let the kids in the front yard very much... our neighborhood is very safe. Most of the kids around here [lay in the road or front...my kids have always been in the back. Primarily because I know that bios are not nice people and had a lot of enemies. I do not like to take chances.

Trip front

Well, yesterday I managed to get my launch outfit 90% done...would have completed it but my back gave out. I am not sure if I will be able to get anything done on it today or not...it is amazing how sitting at the machine can hurt so much! I actually seem to do better sitting in a straight kitchen chair rather than my nice ergo chair! (but the kitchen chair makes my legs hurt...) Face it...I am falling apart! LOL!

So, after only 3 hours of sewing, I came upstairs to get some tylenol and remembered I needed to call my doctor about getting something for sea sickness. I would not have thought about it but since my vertigo seems to like to rear its head every once in a while I figured I would probably have to have something just in case. That is when I found out she is leaving tomorrow for a vacation...and the only appointment they had was in 15 minutes! YIKES!

I made it there and ended up spending an hour and a half... but I managed to get a script for both something new for my tummy, the seasickness patch, and my renewal for my handicapped parking placard. As well as a referral to a gastro guy...Yuck!

Then I swung by Wally world and got a watch

There...that is about the trip! (well I guess the seasickness patch is as well) I have not worn a watch since my Mickey Mouse watch decided it needed a new battery...and the battery cost way more than I wanted to spend! I normally use my phone to see the time. Since my phone will be turned off while on the cruise...i figured I needed a watch...and being the cheap person I am it had to be under $10!

When I got home... my fabric for my sun dress was in!

I threw it in the wash and made sure I had printed out the pattern...while it was drying I realized I probably wouldn't get to it until next week. My goal was to have the launch outfit completed today so I could get pictures tomorrow and have it ready to go for the launch...since the launch is the day after I get home. I seriously doubt I will be up to getting all the paper work done for it once I get back!!!

So.... I have about a million calls to make today...and all but one have to wait until 9am... I need to finish the launch outfit...I need to pick up the meds and the paperwork for the handicapped placard...go to the courthouse to get the placard...I need to run by Joann's to pick up the zippers for the dresses...I have a list of questions I need to get answered for the cruise...I need to touch base with the realtor... I need to make a shopping list of things I need for the cruise...I need to make a packing list... I need to START packing...I NEED to get OFF the computer!!!
