So DS has been dropping his nap on random days over the past few weeks, which is depriving poor little me of my tea break and my card DISigning time!! It's getting harder to squeeze in the time to DISign so I've decided I'm going to wrap up my DISigning career before he drops that nap altogether, so I have time to adjust
So... I'm handing in my notice... I'll be DISigning for
one more month, I'm aiming to be finished up on this thread on
August 28th
But..... I was thinking that some of you might like to try your hand at being a DIsigner. The simple cards are very straightforward to DISIgn... here's all you need...
1.
Clipart - I find most of mine at
http://www.wondersofdisney.disneyfansites.com/frontdoor.html and
http://www.disneyclips.com/
2.
Fonts - I use dafont.com - if you click into one of the themes, then select "more options" you can choose all the fonts that are released under the "free" licence. You can browse and find ones you like. Every one of my cards has the fonts used linked under it in photobucket if you see any you like on one of my cards.
3.
Templates - All my cards are designed to be printed at 3x4" - so they are 900x1200px (@300dpi) No matter how simple or complex the card, almost all of my cards are based on one of 5 templates I made. It's the quickest way to make the cards! The line spacing was originally
Iloveeliot's work... she worked out the best spacing for both print & digi work!!
Templates can be difficult to make if you are new to designing so I have decided to share mine with you all

They are free to use (only non-profit use - no sale/resale of the templates or derived cards please), all I ask is that you include the credit "
Template by pixiesprite" if you make any cards with them and post them online.
Please use these in the spirit in which they are shared... to spread a little pixie dust
These are on a transparent background, you can change the colours and add clipart etc. to make your cards.
I'm not going to provide any technical support or instructions for these, it's easy to google how to change the colours etc. with your paint program. Have fun DISigning!!
Try and make 2 versions of each card you DISign - one with the journal lines and one without, it makes them most flexible and useful
If you decide to create cards.... please share them here and on our completed cards thread
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3072096. PLEASE make sure to give credit if you use the templates. This credit must be in 3 places -
the photobucket file, the post on this thread and the post of the completed cards thread.
Please respect this requirement!!!
ALSO - when making your own cards.... please
don't alter any existing cards belonging to any of our DISigners
unless their permission has been given.
You
MAY alter
my cards - but again you must include the credit "card based on an original card by pixiesprite" and a link to the original card! This credit and link must be in 3 places -
the photobucket file, the post on this thread and the post of the completed cards thread.
Please respect this requirement!!!
And it goes without saying that I'd prefer you refrain from any profanities, inappropriate imagery etc. when modifying my cards/using my templates - such items will be reported
4.
Logos etc. - these can be easy to find on google or very difficult!! If you find nice clean logos then you can plop them straight onto your card otherwise..... google "extractions" to learn how to extract logos using your paint program - it does take time and patience to get good at
5.
Photobucket - you use the code from
IMG thumb to post thumbnails (not full size images) to this thread. You need to switch this feature on in photobucket before you see the code. To turn the thumbnails on in photobucket: You need to click on your user settings -> album settings & switch it on.
Ok.... hope that all sounds good, please give it a go

Here's my templates...
*********** please see my new thread for cards

Cool so!! Enjoy

, I'll still be around DISigning for the next few weeks! Hope to see some of you also adding creations to the thread

And I will be updating the index on the completed cards thread even after I finish DISignig the cards
