Discovering DVC timandlesley style-A PTR, 19 days TRIP REPORT LINK PG.119!!!!!

Hey Lesley---so glad to see that you guys have been enjoying your snow days!!! Our luck ran a little sour yesterday---with all the snow and ice around, we lost our power at 10am---didn't return until 8pm last night. Megs and I just huddled up and snuggled on the couch during the day---looked at Disney books a lot! We had packed bags to go stay at my Mom and Dad's, but after dinner out, we found out that the power had been restored. We got out a little today too, but this weather is driving us CRAZY!!!! I have a feeling that Megs won't have school tomorrow either---so that means no preschool for her all week (MWF)!!!! She is missing it like CRAZY!!! I think she mainly misses her friends---playing with Mommy is getting a little mundane to her! ;o) Keep safe!

Thanks for sharing the snow day pics. Nothing like a good old fashion snow day but 3 snow days ... that is awesome. I love the ones of Mickey in the snow. He reminds me of our golden Myla she loves to eat the snow too. Enjoy your time off !

I am soooooooooooo excited because my Iphone that I ordered is supposed to come today. Tim has had his for a few weeks now and I fell in love with it and wanted my own, can't wait to play with it when it arrives:hyper:
Lesley

I have an iPhone too - obviously you already know you'll love it. Did you know you can compress videos you already know into a size that lets you play them on your iPhone? I have 7 movies on my phone (the 16 GB) along with 1230 pictures and 870 songs. All that and I still have about 3 GB to spare! BTW, "Fieldrunners" is a highly addictive and totally fun app on the phone. Two :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 . Enjoy the phone.

Glad you're jumping on the iPhone bandwagon! PM me if you need help, I think you know who I work for :rolleyes1 Maybe it will convince you to get a mac!

SNOW DAYS? Disney SHOPPING? I PHONES?!?!!

Geeze, Lesley, sounds like things are pretty darn good for you right now!!:beach: Which is good, because you deserve some good stuff after the crazy winter you've had so far.

I got another snow day today.. not sure why.. the roads seemed fine last night when Ty and I drove into Indy for the Pacer game.. which was a blast! But Ty's school is only on a 2 hour delay, so I need to run him to school in a bit.

BTW.. the picture of Lauren on the pull out couch...:thumbsup2 Now THAT's my idea of a snow day!!
I know, I live a good life don't I ;) Hope you enjoyed your snow day. Glad you made it to the Pacer game!!! I know, doesn't Lauren look like a little diva on that pull out couch, it was really comfy and cozy, I don't blame her for wanting to stay inside : )
Lesley

3 days! That is great. I hope you don't have to go further in June though.

My DH got an Iphone a month ago and we both love it. I want one too!! :)
We are right at our amount of alloted snow days right now, but for Disney we don't go until a full 1 1/2 weeks until I'm out of school so even if we have more snow days I'll be fine. Luke is past his now but they end in May anyway so I don't feel sorry for him:rolleyes: . Hope you get an iPhone soon, it is already addicting!
Lesley
3 snow days! WOW!! That ROCKS!!! In our area
they allow 3 snow days, after that, anything has to
be made up in june!! Might not work for folks with Diz
plans!!!:upsidedow
I know, can you believe it! I do feel sorry for those with trips planned the day or two after we were supposed to get out.
Lesley

Loved your snow day pics. My kids would love to have 3 snow days! It is cold here but we don't really get snow. We did get like and inch last week but it quickly melted. In NJ we used to get blizzards all the time. The snow ice cream looks like something fun for the kids to do. Myabe if it ever snows alot here :).
Glad you enjoyed the pics. The snow ice cream was fun, maybe someday you'll have enough to try it. : )

OMG! So sorry to hear about your power, glad it was restored and you guys were able to return home. With all the ice we had I was shocked it stayed on. Lauren found out last night her school was cancelled again for today and she was in tears, she LOVES school.
Lesley

Glad you enjoyed them, I don't think I've ever had 3 in a row, unbelievable. Yes, goldens in snow are such fun to watch!

Very cool, I've yet to add video. I'll check out fieldrunners. I did download the park interactive maps for Magic Kingdom - they have them for all the parks.
Lesley

Nicole I am glad too. If I could just afford a mac. . . .maybe someday, they do rock!
Also wanted to add that i've been keeping our "itinerary" on my iphone for a while now, and it works really well in the parks!! I create "cards" which are themed, have the times guides for the parks, dining reservations etc.

(theres a video from one of my pre-tr)
O.K NICOLE YOU TOTALLY ROCKED MY WORLD WITH THIS VIDEO. I sent it to Tim through email and told him it was his mission to help me create these for our trip. HOW COOL IS THAT!!!! Forget the notecards, I'm using my iPhone. I know you mentioned the program you used to create it, but is there anything for us PC users out there that would work? Any ideas for me?
Lesley

Hey guys. So if you've checked out my blog or recent posts you know that we were on SNOW DAY #3 yesterday. I took some time to take advantage of the Disneyshopping t-shirt sale and found matchinig shirts for us plus a little more- can't wait for that shipment to come in.
Also, this arrived yesterday:

MY iPHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited about all this baby can do. Based upon Nicole's post above I can really go hog wild with our touring plans this year and daily reservation info, etc. on there, so I think I'll be kissing our notecard planning goodbye. That really excites me :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:
Luke and Lauren BOTH got calls last night, THEY ARE BOTH OFF SCHOOL AGAIN TODAY!!! That means 4 days in a row for them. Luke was thrilled but poor lauren was in tears, she loves school and misses her friends:sad:
I have a 2 hour delay today which is why I have this great free time to type to you guys as everyone else is still in bed this am :coffee:

MORE DISNEY NEWS:
I requested a reservation on our developer points via the online DVC system for the 21st (the night we decided to drive down all day) and we got the SSR reservation for the 21st. I figured might as well take advantage of the free room:cool1:
Stay tuned, hopefully our Disneyshopping shipment comes soon and I can show you what we bought.
Have a great weekend everyone!!!!
Lesley

Hey Lesley! :wave2: How awesome another snow day! Aw poor Lauren-that's so cute she misses her friends.

Can't wait to see what you ordered!!!

And I can't wait to see what your ADR's are for what nights. That'd be funny if we ended up somewhere the same night randomly. :rotfl2:

Wow, that is a lot of snow!!!

Yay for the new Iphone and disney shopping deals:cool1:

Just found your PTR -- we are going in June and I work in education, too. So even those of us in MD had a few snow days last week! There was a teacher work day last Monday, then no school due to snow/ice on Tuesday and Wednesday, and a 2 hr delay on Thursday. The work week was 1.5 days long :rotfl2: I have two little boys who were lovin' it. Of course we didn't have snow worth playing in -- it was just a sheet of ice, the fall and break a bone type, but who doesn't love getting time off!?!:goodvibes
The new president couldn't believe his own kids were "off from school" :) The DC area is not quite Chicago! I am enjoying your posts. :wave2:

Congrats on the Iphone. I have one and love it. I put all the adr's on it and it was great.

I know, our work week was 1.5 days lat week and Luke had .5 days total, and Lauren had 0.
Still no Disney Shipping, but should be here soon and I'll update with the pics.

Yes, it was a lot of snow, still hanging around to be played in too, slowly melting today but we are supposed to get more tomorrow. LOVE my Iphone.

Glad you found us. I know, had to love the short work week last week. I heard that about Obama, too funny : )

I am excited about the disney planning opportunities on the phone. Do you have the maps of the parks on it? It is such a cool application because you click on the attraction and it tells you about it, height requirements, fast passed or not and if you click on a restaraunt it gives you the menu, so cool!

Hope al of you are having a good weekend. We are super busy as usual with Lauren attending a b-day party at Build a Bear yesterday, then we took Luke to my mom's for his b-day dinner with my side of the family, BECAUSE MY PARENTS LEAVE NEXT WEEK FOR DISNEY!:cool1: They are going Feb. 7th (Luke's b-day) until the 14th. I have planned their dining, trip, etc. and can't wait to see how it goes for them. I even got them a LeCellier ressie on Valentines day!!!!:hyper:
We are off to church this morning and then we are having 40 people over for the Superbowl tonight, should be a fun time but crazy. Wish us luck.
Hey, I think we decided our last day (the 7th of July) we are going to spend a day at Universal Studios. Any advice on cheap tickets???
Lesley

Lesley! Congrats on the iphone...I have one too isn't it awesome:thumbsup2 My cousin is going to be in Disney from 2/6-2/10 too! They are staying at SSR so I told her to take lots of pictures!!:thumbsup2 I can't believe Luke's birthday is so close!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUKE!!pixiedust: I think because you have your car a day at Universal is an AWESOME idea. Do you have the Entertainment Book? They usually have coupons in there!:goodvibes I forget where you posted your pictures of your street...but that was BEAUTIFUL!!:goodvibes

I'm a fan of Universal but its no disney, just realize that going in!! Lol There are 2 parks which are definitely do-able in one day but most likely not without universal express pass. Its different than disney because only people bearing an express pass can get through the express line and theres 2 ways to get one: Buy one for each member of your family, or stay at a Universal hotel. The Universal hotels are so awesome, but they can get expensive because i think they're 4 or 5 star hotels.

My opinion is if you can't get the express pass, commit to only going to one park for half the day (for Luke's sake i'd choose Islands of Adventure) because I think lines would be monstrous over at the other park by the time its noon!! If you can afford to stay there overnight at any of the 3 hotels...you wont regret it, they are soooo awesome and sometimes I feel like I get treated better there than at disney!!

Also wanted to add that if you head over there be sure to eat dinner at "Mama Dellas" its the italian restaurant at the Portofino Bay Hotel. check out the review from WDWinfo!! Its AMAZING!

It is called "Magic Map" I think I found it by searching "Disney" we now have all of the parks in our phones, VERY COOL!

They are awesome. Luke's actual b-day is the 7th so we have a party planned for him and he's excited. I do have the Entertainment book, I'll check it out. OH that pic of my street was on facebook, I took it while driving to work, wasn't it pretty!

We're just going to go the last day in Orlando (our checkout day at Disney). We'll head over early and stay most of the day. We plan on doing the Main park instead of Islands of Adventure because we have so many big roller coasters here and Tim and luke are HUGE simpsons fans and want to ride that ride and Lauren is a HUGE Barney and ET and they are both there. Those express passes are expensive aren't they?

Lesley! Check out this thread about Universal!

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2077384

:thumbsup2
I saw the ad and signed up, here's hoping we were one of the 100,000!:thumbsup2

The express passes vary depending on what time of year it is. For example, I went for a Sunday in January before MLKJr day and it was $30pp

FYI, islands of adventure only has 2 roller coaster, its not a roller coaster park like six flags/cedar point. Its a lot newer than the other park, but its really awesome because it has 5 "lands" (like MK) theres a marvel land with the spiderman ride which is just AMAZING and unlike anything you'll ever go on. There's Jurassic Park which is a splash mountain type ride. Suess Landing makes you feel like you are literally in a dr suess book. Toon Lagoon is all water-based rides, and themed for sunday comics! Don't get me wrong, Universal is nice too but a lot of the rides can be outdated except for The Mummy & The Simpsons (those being the 2 new rides) Don't rule out IOA because it has 2 major coasters, theres so much more to it than that...especally the theming! Steven Speielberg designed the park! One of my favorite feelings of Universal is walking under the Jurassic Park "Arch" and really feeling like you are in JP!! If you are a fan of the movie, you will love this

I sound like a spokesperson for Universal! haha, im really not, just want you guys to have a great time!

Lesley I think you can get tickets to Universal through AAA or SWOEA (your district is a part of this right). Just check their website...... I remember they used to be in the flyers all the time. Sounds fun to check it out.
