I know this has been asked before but I just want to get different thoughts . There are 14 of us on the Magic in November . We would like to visit the Atlantis for the day during our stop to Nassau . Not our favorite port however it is my parents first cruise and they would like to see the casino. It will also be my brothers first cruise too !! They would like to get off to get their land legs back again. We have booked the Discover Atlantis tour . Is it worth it ? Or would it be just as easy to to get a taxi or shuttle over . Please let me know if you have any opinions.

Have done it both ways and both were ok. Take your pick and have a wonderful time.

We did this excursion on our cruise at the beginning of August on the Dream...I have to admit I was not impressed and would not book this again. It was pretty pricey...close to $400 for three adults and a 4 year old. The aquarium, I think they call it the Dig, was nice but didn't blow me away or anything. Lunch options were all outside with no air conditioning so we were burning up the whole time. Thought hey let's walk down to the beach to cool off...the beach is literally like a mile walk away so lugging everything down there only to find out there were no chairs at all...it just wasn't a great experience for the high price. Disney did a great job and the transportation to and from was great...I just think if you're going to do Atlantis and must see the resort to maybe do the water park too. It looked amazing and it would have been so nice to cool off in their pool or do some of the water activities like the lazy river. It's also right there with no long walk. Atlantis is huge. Just keep that in mind...you know your group and how much they want to walk and how they do with the heat.

I'm sure many people have done this excursion and loved it...we just didn't have the greatest experience and wouldn't book it again.

I also want to add my husband spent a bit if time in the casino and had a great time...so if that's a big deal to you then maybe it is worth booking. We'd just booked it mainly for the aquarium that didn't do much for us and the beach which was a hike in scorching heat so that's why we weren't impressed. Hope you enjoy your cruise!:)

Thanks for your input .... I know my parents will spend their time in the casino . Just looking for a safe option there and back . Is it worth it to get there safely ?

Yes I definitely think so...I would absolutely trust Disneys choice in transportation as opposed to some cab you happen to catch at port.

You can TOTALLY take a cab to Atlantis! It was easy! I am the "safety queen" so scared of everything, and I have no qualms about recommending taking a cab. My DH and I did it with our two DDs ages 14 and 10. We just went to the cab area and got onto a little bus with several other people. Atlantis was a short drive away. When we wanted to return to the ship, we simply walked outside as there were cabs lined up.

Good luck with whatever you decide. I concur with the others, Atlantis is very large and expansive. I would not pay any money to see their aquarium. I enjoyed seeing it as part of our day there (booked on our own) but I would not, in my opinion, describe it as a must see.

First Disney cruise coming up next year, but we stayed at the Atlantis as guests last year and ...

Totally easy to take a cab; we did that from the airport with a 3 year old. We actually googled for a cab service with car seats and reserved it before we left and it was fine.

The aquarium was nice enough as a hotel guest (and built into the cost), but I would NOT pay the $$$$ just for the ride and to walk through it. Same with the casino, unless you REALLYREALLY want to go to a casino for a day.

The water park was fun but the rides are not great for little ones who can't swim, though there is a shallow kiddie play area. We spent almost all our outdoor time at the pool rather than the beach for the reasons cited above - no chairs at the main beach and there were a lot of hawkers selling stuff, including MJ when I was there alone with my 3 year old. (Really!!?) we did later find a beach that was more secluded and with chairs, but now I wonder if it was Atlantis guests only because it was very private (and far from everything else).

Food is meh, typical beach/pool cafe food. Upshot - unless you're going for the water slides, it's probably not worth it. Just my opinion.
