This is not finished yet - I still have to go buy buttons for it. i am going to share the pictures anyway since dd wanted me to take pictures of her as soon as I got her to try it on. I use McCalls 3949 for the dress, and I really like how it turned out.

love it love it love it!!! Turned out SO cute!!!

Hee, poor Scrappy. He plucked the remaining bunnies out of the hole, so we are bunny-less. :sad1:

ummmm okay when you say "plucked" please tell me you mean "rescued"...he didn't...y'know...pluck them to their little bunny deaths did he?! He rescued them right? Ran with them towards the nearest bunny hotel and deposited them safely and soundly to live out their little bunny lives...right?

I just hope he didn't mistake the little bunnies as y'know...badgers...

BJ mistakes my socks as badgers a lot. He's pretty ruthless with them...and sometimes my feet are INSIDE the socks when he attacks them!

he's trying to protect me! Y'know...from a badger...

*ahem*

;)

BTW-That purple outfit IS supposed to be a dress...it just *looks* more like PJ's...which is SO Disney's design mistake!

Okay, I just have to share my irritation... I was all set to actually make something for me for a change. I have the fabric, the zipper, the interfacing, everything I need! Except the right size pattern....

Why, oh why are the sizes so wonky? I recalled that they tend to run small and that I would need a bigger size than usual, but I wear a 4-6 in the stores, so I ASSumed that surely the size 4-10 pattern would be just fine... Ugh.. I am between a 12 and a 14...:scared1: And looking at the sizing for the smaller sizes, I'd just like to know who the heck wears those sizes! The size 4 (and yes, this is MISSES) has the exact same waist measurements as a toddler size 4 at Pumpkin Patch...

So now I STILL have to go back to JoAnn's before I can start my pants...

Okay, Kimberly sent me some pictures today of her adorable daughter wearing my Mulan and Lucky customs. Are these not the most spectacular photos ever? Kim, you make my stuff look so good!!:goodvibes

Kaysie and Kimberly, these outfits look great! Kimberly, your daughter is gorgeous!!! And you take some fantastic pictures!!!! I love the red petti, I'm wishing I had ordered one!

Either purchase or make a "free-standing" applique. It's complete in itself without being attached to anything.

Now, I'm not sure if this is still available, or what the actual name is, but...

A number of years ago (early to mid-nineties, I'm thinking) there was an applique adhesive that was designed so the applique could be temporarily attached to a garment, then removed. This was when all those big sequined appliques were popular--if anyone remembers! When you removed the applique from the garment, you had to place it on parchment or waxed paper so it wouldn't adhere to something you didn't want it to. :)

I'm thinking it was by Aleene's. It was pretty sturdy--the applique could be used several times before reapplying the adhesive. I'll try to find it somewhere online, but you might want to try any of the craft stores online sites in the meantime.

Someone on here said they've used that before. She said it was from Aleenes, but I've never been able to find it. :(
:scared1: Kind of pricey for doll's blankets.

Mine must have been cheaper than yours! They were only .99 ! :thumbsup2

HI everyone! I am about 30 pages behind right now!!

I just wanted to post a pic of my new haircut. I think I look cute, and I haven't looked cute since I was 8 months old....I guess I'm finally out of that awkward stage. :rotfl2:

I have a world of fabric left. :thumbsup2

This is actually LONG for my hair. :rotfl2:

candicenicole19: Where did you find the Pooh Faric? That is adorable!

Princessmom29: I adore your Animal Kingdom outfit you posted... Do you mind me asking where you got the pattern? I am wanting to make that same exact outfit for my girls.... (Not in the animal print. Mine is of Mickey fabric.) anyways, I searched all the pattern books at Hancock and coudl not find it....Do you happen to know where you found it?
Thank you!:worship:

ok, this one is a frankenpattern so lets see if I can get it straight. I used Carla C's simply sweet tops and dresses for the top along with the stripwork skirt pattern from sew simple that is in Tresea's links at the beginning of the thread. It is adult sized so I copied at 50% on my copier and that worked for dd. I was making a size 5 so you may have to play with it. It is gathered at the waist so it does not have to be exact. Once I had it done I measured and cut the cuff to fit and followed her instructions for how to attach it. The pants are Carla C's easy fit pants with a cuff. I hope this is clear enough!?!? If not feel free ot ask questions or PM me. I am still relatively new at sewing so let me konw if this does not make sense. The Carly C patterns are from YCMT (youcanmakethis.com)

You look great!!!! Have fun!!

Great fabric! I bought the same Pooh fabric at my Joanns on clearance, and the Nemo fabric was on sale at my Hancock couple months ago. Can't wait to see what you make!

That is just soooo cute, and your dd is adorable!

Love the petti! Soooo cute! Your kids are adorable.

Beautiful outfit, so is your dd! Great pictures.

:
I love your pictures. WHat program did you use to put their names and the icon's on the pictures? Great job on the petti! I am thinking of making one for my DD she is going to be a Flower Girl in my Brother's wedding in August. I think it will make her dress stand out better.

It was actually Photobucket! I just uploaded my photos into my account as usual. Once loaded there is now a 'edit' option above your pic, click on it and a new section opens up and then click on the 'decorate' option and you can put on 'stickers' (the little pictures) and add fonts and other stuff.

Melissa, I think it's adorable!!!! Your kids are beautiful too!!!

I have one of the Sam's pettis, and they are really really full. (they weigh about 1 1/2 pounds each!) It's the fluff on the bottom that gives them most of their poof. They do a double ruffle on the bottom. I took a picture so you can sort of see what I'm talking about:

This is how it looks when worn:
DSCF2488.jpg

and this is how it's sewn on:
DSCF2487.jpg

I have two for more everyday wear underneath things that have lace at the bottom instead of fluff, and difference in fullness is amazing!

Thank you so much for taking the time to take a pic for me! :flower3: I wanted to do fluff like that, but i was so afraid that it may fray and eventually be nothing left! Ash wants one so i may try it next time, after i get a ruffler of course!;)

You DO look cute! It is very flattering on you! LOVE it

Before I got my Kenmore serger (Xmas Present in the early '90s) I would finish all exposed seams in the following manner. I would sew the first seam at the 5/8 seam allowance, then run a second seam 1/4 inch away from the first seam within the seam allowance. Then I would cut off the excess fabric to the second line of stitching, then I would zig zag stitch over the cut edge.
Although this method is labor intensive it is well worth the effort. The guides that come with a commercial pattern ASSUMES that you know how to finish the seams. Or they will tell you to "trim the seam" let's say around a neck line or armhole, they again assume you know that the seams should be trimmed in a "graded"fashion with one layer of fabric a bit longer than the other so the seam will lay flat. and then it is a toss-up whether they mention that that same seam needs to be clipped to just before the stitching or it will never lay flat at all. The best purchase for beginners or someone who hasn't sewn since"Junior High" Home EC class would be a basic sewing book. Singer makes some great books....I have several and some still refer back to at times...Nana

Thanks for the info. My question - how do you keep your curved seams clipped when you serge them?

One of those shirts is a size 10! I just printed out a size 7 and a size 8 pattern. I looked at where they were different and by how much. Then, I doubled that difference and drew a size 10. Does that make any sense? It does in my head, but it doesn't when I read it!

Yes, that helps! Thank you! I think I might have to try it!

That turned out very cute!

alright. here's the rough draft of my giselle outfit.
I'm holding the underskirt (pink and white part) because I haven't finished them.

Yes, I am in my tub. It's the easiest place to take pictures.

Dude! You do look cute! :thumbsup2 And Brianna looks a lot like her mommy!

I HATE that! It's why I'm scared to try new patterns. I made Lily a dress once--one of the first things I made her. I think I made a size 3. I think it will fit her when she is 6. It will be in the closet for a LONG time!

You could also use the stripwork jumper pattern from YCMT and get basically the same result. Just use a solid band around the hem instead of a ruffle (or a ruffle would be cute too).

I finally made something for DD! It's a pair of PJs for a sleepover that she is going to this weekend (plus matching headband...thanks for the link!). You can't see the details too well in this picture but the top has a ruffle along the bottom.

Thanks for the info. My question - how do you keep your curved seams clipped when you serge them?

Okay, see if this makes sense....I first run the seam with my regular sewing machine, then I "grade" the seam allowance, clip the curve, and then serge it. As I feed the item into the serger I "straighten" out the curve, utilizing the clips which allows me to do this. Then I will do the understitching to prevent the facing from rolling to the right side of the fabric. Nana

OK I CAME UP WITH A IDEA THAT I NEED YOU ALL OPINIONS? IS THERE ANYWAY TO PUT A APPLICAID ON JEANS, ETC. THAT I COULD STILL TAKE OFF AT END OF DAY??? LIKE IF I WANTED TO PUT ONE ON MY JEANS, THEN THE NEXT DAY PUT ANOTHER APP. ON FOR A DIFFERENT PARK? JUST SO I DO NOT HAVE TO BUY MORE JEANS. ANY IDEAS WOULD HELP, OR JUST TELL ME I AM WAY OUT THERE:rotfl2:

You could make button-on panels. If you have an embroidery machine, there are some free ones on sewforum I believe. For the time and effort involved, I'd probably just look for super cheap jeans at the consignment store. Plus my jeans generally don't make it more than a day at Disney without being able to stand up by themselves. ;)

I still have the sewing book my mother bought me when I went to university. She bought one for my cousin, as well, and it's been seriously used and loved, too! *LOL*

I love the Monkey dress and matching purse. It is really cute. Megan's purple dress looks like a nightgown, but knowing Disney it is probably a dress.

Love the hair.

Yes and I watched both of those shows also while sewing Kathy Lee Gifford outfits. :lmao:

:scared1: :lmao:

Ermmmm....I missed out on the last part. Must have been because I was working! *LOL*
