Stephres: LOVE the monkey dress and matching purse!!

I do think that is an adorable dress from the Disney store, but it is a bit nightgownish. I thought the same thing when I saw them online. But, I think that's because they make such cute nightgowns!!

Princessmom29: That zebra outfit is great!!!

I love your tops! Do you think it would hard to adjust the portrait peasant top to a size 10 or 12? TIA!
One of those shirts is a size 10! I just printed out a size 7 and a size 8 pattern. I looked at where they were different and by how much. Then, I doubled that difference and drew a size 10. Does that make any sense? It does in my head, but it doesn't when I read it!

You have been busy!! So what else are you making for the trip- not to many days left!! I bet you all are getting excited!!!

I don't know what else I'm going to make! I need to shorten some Minnie mouse jeans I bought for myself (I want to make them capris). Plus, I'd like to make myself a shirt out of the sheer dot I bought a long time ago. I also need to print and iron-on 9 designs for the adults, Corey, and Sawyer. There are many other things I'd like to make, but that's probably all I will get done, if that much!

As we will be there at the same time as you, I've put in an order for beautiful wather and this top will be perfect!!!! :cool2:

Ok, a question. I bought this thing off of Disney shopping and the description said "dress" but whenever Megan wears it my husband asks why she is wearing her nightgown. So, please vote: is this a dress or nightgown? It is knit but ties in the back.

IMG_0418.jpg

We bought the same one for Valentine's day for our DD. It said it was a dress? My DD wears as PJ's. I am still confused by it.:confused3 The material feels like PJ's to me. But I think it makes a cute dress too.

here is the zebra outfit on. It is a little big, but should fit by Nov.

BTW I would love instructions for Ireland's sock curls too. Her hair is always sooo cute!

You guys have been busy lately. Love the pooh outfit from a toddler sheet. So creative!!! Here is what I have been working on. The model is at school so I will post pics of her wearing it later. I am planning it for animal kingdom for our Nov. trip. I will pick up a white long sleeve tee later in case it is cold.

Love it!

I haven't caught up on the last few days, so sorry I'm skipping so much! But, here's what I've been working on. These 5 shirts are for Tessa and my nieces to wear when my mom wears her pink Mickey button-up shirt.
Sorry it's so blurry:

This one's for you, Karebear!!

I used the top half of the portrait peasant top and the bottom half of the a-line jumper, both by CarlaC. I didn't put elastic in the sleeves, to give it a flirty sleeve (had nothing to do with the fact that I'm really lazy).

The ladies are going to be looking gorgeous! :thumbsup2

I feel like such a slacker. I have been reading and not commenting, sorry. I am loving the different things people are posting though. I feel blah, just no energy at all.

We have our school carnival tomorrow and I am donating this for the silent auction. I made a practice one and gave it to Megan, so that's why it looks familiar. I told a friend of mine to bid on it (I made it her daughter's size) so my feelings wouldn't get hurt if no one liked it.

It is Carla's sweet dress jumper top with Carla's a-line attached.

th_IMG_0433.jpg

I couldn't decide how to do the bottom so I decided to learn how to make knife pleats. It didn't take any longer than a regular ruffle and I thought it looked more grown up for a size 6 sundress. The only problem is I ended up with way too much ruffle left over! It was ok, I used it on the matching purse.

Um, I don't know why she looks like that. We were off to our favorite restaurant, you can tell because she has her bucket of naked barbies to keep her occupied!

Ohhhh, Elisa!

I tried the sock-curlers last night and Megan's hair came out so cute! She doesn't have a lot of long socks, so I used big sections and this morning when we took it out it very wavy. She loved it! We are going to try smaller sections and see how it looks. I forgot to take a picture of it, will try to remember tomorrow. Thank you so much for posting instructions and pictures of gorgeous Ireland. I would have never thought of doing it but once I saw her beautiful curls, I knew we had to try it.

Excellent use of extra pleats or ruffles! Love the outfit and purse!

It appears the garment in question is intended to be a dress, but I agree with your DH that it looks more like a nightgown! Probably the fabric, although I can't really tell what it is, and the proportions. They just don't look quite right for a dress. :confused3 But what do I know? Fashion changes constantly! *LOL*

I loved that show! Didn't it come on before Lynette jennings and Christopher Lowell?

Yep! Two other rare guilty pleasures! *LOL*

That looks great and I really like how it look without the elastic on the sleeves! It gives it a totally different look.

The monkey outfit and purse are really cute!

How fun to have crazy hair day in school! DD's school should have that so I don't have to worry about doing her hair for school.

here is the zebra outfit on. It is a little big, but should fit by Nov.

th_DSC00418.jpg

That is adorable, and perfect for Animal Kingdom or even the zoo.

So how is this for creative? I was looking in the clearance aisle of Walmart. They had a curtain valence for one dollar. I thought...hmmmmm 15 inches long, by 60 inches wide....a SKIRT!!! Yes I did!!! I brought it home, sewed up the side seams, slipped elastic through the rod hole, and I am done! No ruffling, no finishing any edges. Simple, and the easiest thing I have ever done! Yep easier than pillowcase dresses of t-shirt dresses!!! Since then I have gone back and bought a Tink valence, and a Spongebob valence that were on clearance.

Oh and I bought a tee to match for 1.50. So here is my 2.50, under 5 min outfit:)

LOVE the tops!! You are a talented lady!! Tessa is just too darling. She looks great in that top!! I'm rather green with envy.:thumbsup2 :goodvibes

They make a product, I think redkin sells it, that you can spray in her hair before you roll each section to help it hold the curl when you take it out. I think it's called Hot Sets. It's for heat rollers, but it works with the socks too. I'm glad it worked for you. Be sure you take a picture next time, and save it to use to show her future boyfriends. LOL:rotfl:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
My mother does that to me every time we go home to visit! Me in my full pageantry glory on display. :sad2: MEAN thing to do!

MEAN.

Dress is adorable. Purse is a adorable.

Scrappy is adorable...(didn't want to leave him out! Bunny finding hero that he is!!)

Yeah...that dress is a hard one to decipher...it does teensy bit look like PJ's. but you can't sleep in something with a back knot...but it's cute either way! I love the matching crocs!!

Oh puhleeese, I just heard the ice cream truck outside and there are still patches where the snow has not melted yet. Not to mention all the kids are still in school :sad2:

We’re going to WDW in May. It’s a secret from the kids. We’ll also be going to the Pirate & Princess Party. We went last August, too. We wore matching outfits. Last year, my sister and her daughter didn’t go. So they don’t have the matching outfits. I want to make them something but don’t have enough of the material left. I checked my local Joann’s and online and they don’t have it anymore. I also looked at eBay. No luck. Does anyone have this fabric? I’m wanting to make a peasant dress and a top, so I’d need about 2 yards or so, maybe 3 (I always buy too much!). I think it was a Joann's exclusive.

Here's the fabric I'm looking for. DD5 is modeling it. It was for DN10.
DSC06568.jpg

Very cute! I haven't seen that fabric, but they have one that is a little similar at Joanns if you don't find any. And you can't beat the price!

I love your tops! Do you think it would hard to adjust the portrait peasant top to a size 10 or 12? TIA!

I made it in a size 12 for my DD. I did the same thing with the pattern that Heather did. I did make a "trial" one first out of some scrap fabric and decided to make it a little longer and wider in the bodice. DD10 loves it though! I have made her several now.

Yipee! Finished another project! I made this Pooh dress for Olivia for our trip but I am thinking now it is to summerish even with a long sleeve shirt for December. What do you think? lol, I think the Lime and Hot pink make it summerish and then the white just makes it even more summery. Oh well, I can add it to her overflowing closet I guess unless you all think we can pull it off for our trip!

I don't like Pooh, but this dress is darling! Why couldn't she wear it in Dec.? I think she could with a long sleeve shirt. After all, it's tropical in FL.

I really need to be making a diaper bag for a Shower Gift. But instead I was reading trip reports and then I decided to update mine. The shower is Saturday. . .nothing like waiting until the last minute.:lmao:

Here is my shameless plug. . .
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=24526385#post24526385
:surfweb:

We had a baby shower for a work friend, I made her a wreath out of diapers. It was really cute.

First I have to say thank you guys for the complements for the bag, it was a huge hit today, I have brand names handbags that I paid lot of money for and never gotten a complement for them... Everybody was asking me for a bag ...I got 15 orders today, the funny thing is that I did not do it for selling it was just that you guys inspired me to do some sewing , so I decided not to charge any money for them but got my hands busy now, ...this is where I need help ...I was doing laundry and sewing at the same time, I put my futons covers in the dryers and totally forgot about them, well....they burnt and also shrunk, I went to the website to order new covers and was shocked at the total price over 500.00 (cheapest material) for the whole set. I think that maybe I could do them myself but not know how to start. I thought about buying sheets to sew them, that way if I messed it up I will not loose a lot of money in fabric, I have a complete futon living room set , a queen size, full size, chair with ottoman, round(4) and square pillows(6), what do you guys think, can it be done? any ideas or maybe a website that can help me? The fabric store that I have close to me does not sell patterns:confused3

TIA
Linnette

My Mother used to always make covers for her cushions. She'd use the old cushion cover as the pattern. Just take it apart. Since it shrunk, double check your measurements.

We went for a walk today and went to a new kids consignment shop and they had a couple cute things that the owners sister makes. One is a juice pouch purse and the other was a magazine purse. The sides of the magazine purse was denim from old jeans. There was a nice picture that had been lamented on the inside and outside and magazine pages in between. It was all zig-zaged together. Then had a grommet and chain for the handle. They had Disney princess ones, Dora, and HSM. I said to her what a cute Idea and she said her sister had seen them at the trendy boutique kids shop for $80!!! She duplicated it and is selling them for $18-25. And the trendy boutique is going out of business right now :sad1: I always loved going in there to look at stuff :scared1:
And the drink pouch one- they just cut off the bottoms and washed them really good, then zig-zagged them together. It was all juice pouches- the sides, bottom and even the handle!! They looked kinda cool and seemed pretty sturdy!!

I've seen the juice bag purse. It's really fun looking. I had a friend with one. And I had done an internet search for a craft last fall, and came across the directions. Very easy. The magazine bag would be great!

Before I got my Kenmore serger (Xmas Present in the early '90s) I would finish all exposed seams in the following manner. I would sew the first seam at the 5/8 seam allowance, then run a second seam 1/4 inch away from the first seam within the seam allowance. Then I would cut off the excess fabric to the second line of stitching, then I would zig zag stitch over the cut edge.
Although this method is labor intensive it is well worth the effort. The guides that come with a commercial pattern ASSUMES that you know how to finish the seams. Or they will tell you to "trim the seam" let's say around a neck line or armhole, they again assume you know that the seams should be trimmed in a "graded"fashion with one layer of fabric a bit longer than the other so the seam will lay flat. and then it is a toss-up whether they mention that that same seam needs to be clipped to just before the stitching or it will never lay flat at all. The best purchase for beginners or someone who hasn't sewn since"Junior High" Home EC class would be a basic sewing book. Singer makes some great books....I have several and some still refer back to at times...Nana

candicenicole19: Where did you find the Pooh Faric? That is adorable!

Princessmom29: I adore your Animal Kingdom outfit you posted... Do you mind me asking where you got the pattern? I am wanting to make that same exact outfit for my girls.... (Not in the animal print. Mine is of Mickey fabric.) anyways, I searched all the pattern books at Hancock and coudl not find it....Do you happen to know where you found it?
Thank you!:worship:

alright. here's the rough draft of my giselle outfit.
I'm holding the underskirt (pink and white part) because I haven't finished them.

How sweet is she? I love the flirty sleeves. Be sure and get a picture of everyone together!

Thanks! I will have to look for it. I really will have to take a picture, it was too funny.

So cute! I love the monkeys! Ella is monkey crazy - she just squealed "monkeeeeeeeees!" in my ear when she saw the dress. I like how you did the ruffles - I agree - it looks a little more "grown up."

Oh, and I do think the dress looks a little bit night-gownish, but it is really cute and I don't think a nightgown would have a tie in the back, so my vote is that if Megan likes it for a dress, then it should be a dress!

Thanks! Who can resist monkeys, right?

That turned out really cute I love the matching purse!! The knife pleats are cute- they make a very nice ruffle. Have fun at the carnival I know someone will love that dress!!!

Oh and I vote dress!!

Thanks!

I love this, I think animal kingdom outfits are the cutest. The picture of her modeling it is too sweet!

I must have missed the directions for Irelands sock curls! Are they in the bookmarks?

I think basically (this is what I remember and googled on the internet), take socks or rags that are 1 inch wide by 6 inches long and wrap small sections of damp hair around and tie at the top. Sleep and wake up with gorgeous hair that looks like Ireland's.

Neat! I saw someone carrying a juice bag purse at school the other day.

We bought the same one for Valentine's day for our DD. It said it was a dress? My DD wears as PJ's. I am still confused by it.:confused3 The material feels like PJ's to me. But I think it makes a cute dress too.

Well, there's not much long-sleeved weather left so I think I am going to let her wear it as a nightgown. I don't know, I could have sworn it said dress in the description.

Excellent use of extra pleats or ruffles! Love the outfit and purse!

It appears the garment in question is intended to be a dress, but I agree with your DH that it looks more like a nightgown! Yeah...that dress is a hard one to decipher...it does teensy bit look like PJ's. but you can't sleep in something with a back knot...but it's cute either way! I love the matching crocs!!

Hee, poor Scrappy. He plucked the remaining bunnies out of the hole, so we are bunny-less. :sad1:

PTA meetings are the worst! Megan packs her own stuff now and she is getting better at that sort of stuff, but she's no angel that's for sure!

Love that dress, so cute! I love that princess fabric and bought it a couple of times.

Stephres: IMHO it looks more like a nightgown.

Elisa: I would love your instructions on how to *sock curl*.

Princessmom29: LOVE the AK custom. Too cute!!

I haven't caught up on the last few days, so sorry I'm skipping so much! But, here's what I've been working on. These 5 shirts are for Tessa and my nieces to wear when my mom wears her pink Mickey button-up shirt.
Sorry it's so blurry:

These are adorable!! I love the flirty sleeve. I have to admit though when I first looked at the above picture I had no reference for size and I thought you had made some cute handpuppets!
Ok, a question. I bought this thing off of Disney shopping and the description said "dress" but whenever Megan wears it my husband asks why she is wearing her nightgown. So, please vote: is this a dress or nightgown? It is knit but ties in the back.

Um, I don't know why she looks like that. We were off to our favorite restaurant, you can tell because she has her bucket of naked barbies to keep her occupied!
I'm sorry you're feeling blah! As for the dress... I think it looks a bit like a nightgown, but that wouldn't stop anyone in this house. My DS6 has a pair of cars flannel pants that he made himself that he wears out all the time. They look like pjs to me, but he loves them!
here is the zebra outfit on. It is a little big, but should fit by Nov.

BTW I would love instructions for Ireland's sock curls too. Her hair is always sooo cute!

Adorable! I love the simple look to it...

HI everyone! I am about 30 pages behind right now!!

I just wanted to post a pic of my new haircut. I think I look cute, and I haven't looked cute since I was 8 months old....I guess I'm finally out of that awkward stage. :rotfl2:
