Oh wow, I love this too! I thought the Peter Pan was pretty original but so is this! Great job!

Thank you for all of the kind words about my Pooh Dress/ Top! It is going to be saved for Disney! I am praying for awesome weather :)

I LOVE all of the designs I have seen! The 101 Dalmations top is to die for! The Princess dress is so sweet! My girls would LOVE that! I have a toddler sheet in the same fabric. Hmm, i think I will make a dress out of it! lol

OKay I made this dress today. Let's see if anyone can guess what it was before it was a dress! lol, I am always using different things and turning them into clothing. I like "different" fabrics and they are so hard to find anymore. Even online :(

lol, In the picture above, Olivia is using her teeny tiny pretend finger camera to take a picture :) She is such a ham. lol

Thanks again for letting me share :) I love this group! Such wonderful and talented people! I am so excited I found a place where I can share my ideas, gather new ones and share my projects! You all are amazing and I always look forward to visiting! :lovestruc

Is anyone on Yahoo IM?

Candice

Very cute! I'm with everyone else.....a shower curtain or table cloth? It's very cute material either way!

I just finished my 1st sewing class (Im such the novice still:lmao: ) but this is exactly what I wanted to make for my twin girls for our trip this fall, can you tell me how you made the mickey head? I was looking for zebra or leopard fabric to do mine but Im scared:scared1: lol!

Anyway, Ive been following this amazing thread since I found it a few days ago & figured nows as good a time as any to jump in & say hi even though I only have a pair of elastic waist pj bottoms & a sundress under my belt!:flower3:

Glad to have you! Lots of us (myself anyway!) are beginners. Some people have only been sewing less than a year and have gotten so good (HeatherSue !) and are so talented! Did you learn a lot in the class? I think I would like to take a class but I don't want to learn how to thread my machine.....I'm just a little past that but not much!

I vote shower curtain (seashore-water-bath)

Although there is a very similar crab that is really popular in children's clothing- so maybe a larger sized child's spring coat?

Oh- and I loved the princess fabric dress with the white ruffle- I forget who posted it- but I really like that. I look forward to DD getting tall enough to do fun stuff like that.

Tinka Bell/Crystal- I love that top and the appliqued minnie and mickey are AWESOME! I love this spring off of the peter pan.
Any news on the minnie dot?

Thank you for the link for the futon covers I'll see if I feel brave enough to tackle that project....

Today I have the most horrible migraine headache, I've been taking excedrin by the handful, but decided to do some sewing ...headache, vomit and all...(sorry to be so graphic:scared1:)

I was able to complete a sundress for myself and another handbag for a friend (this handbag business is now getting out of control as "friends" call me for a free custom made handbag BTW with special request:confused3 ...the nerve of some people :sad2: )

The fabric for the sundress I bought it for 1.00 a yard, my husband said that it looked like curtain fabric:confused3 so now I am self conscious about it,
will you wear this in pubic...

The nerve of some people indeed - start charging!

I LOVE that dress!! I would pay money for it (though it would not fit me, lol)!

Linnette

I think I have a shirt in a similar pattern so YES I'd wear it! I think it's very cute and summery!

Yelp it is a shower curtain! lol, A fabric one of course. But it is great fabric!
I love the weight of it. Just perfect for little sun dresses! I am making more tomorrow. Well, Maybe Saturday cause DH is off tomorrow and he hates when I sew. It it to loud and he can not hear the TV! lol

Stephres: IMHO it looks more like a nightgown.

Elisa: I would love your instructions on how to *sock curl*.

Princessmom29: LOVE the AK custom. Too cute!!

The sock curl is really easy. After washing your daughters hair, dry it until it's just barely damp, put in some hair product of your choice, gel, mousse, whatever...I usually use nothing. And you take a bunch of socks, and wind sections of hair around the socks and when you get up to her head, you just tie the ends of the socks together. It reminds me of when my grandmother used to do rag curls on us when we were little. The socks are great, because they absorb the excess dampness in the hair, and they aren't too bad to sleep on. In the morning....wa-la, curly hair...:cutie:

Ooh, I'm posting up a storm tonight!

Okay, so we are hopefully going to WDW in Sept. after the baby comes (if I keep my nerves up!). And of course I'm worrying about customs. Now I know I don't have time to do customs for every ride (like some of you!!!). But I do have several meals planned with ADR's and of course will need customs for them.

Crystal Palace - Winnie The Pooh dress (already have the fabric)

Cinderella's Royal Table - I think I want a Cinderella appliqued dress for this (already bought the bows and some fabric possibly unless I change my mind)

Chef Mickey's - I would love to do a skirt (kind of like LisaZoe's Winnie the Pooh one) where I stripwork it and put different characters on every other panel (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy). How many panels are usually done on these? Can I squeeze in Pluto? Or is five too many? Or maybe I'll just stick to a Minnie Dot outfit for here. WIth a matching shirt of course!

Askershus - I would like to do a skirt like the one for Chef Mickey's but with a different princess for each panel.........has anyone done anything like this? I'm thinking Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Belle, and Ariel. Again with a matching shirt.

Of course that leaves a Minnie Dot outfit, Friends Around The World outfit, maybe a JoJo outfit (I do have the Hollywood and Vine breakfast w/ characters scheduled too.......) possibly a Nemo outfit, and Animal Kingdom outfit.

If anyone has any of the panel skirts and shirts that I could CAB and would like to share the pictures I would appreciate it! Any helpful ideas are also appreciated.

We have that couch and love seat. Got it in September. We LOVE them!
That's cool. We were afraid that our doggy's hair would show up on it, but surprisingly it does not. Probably because we keep rolling it with a lint roller. :lmao:

That is beautiful! I love it! I am cracking up that you made a custom for the drive down... she'll be the best dressed girl on the way TO Disney too!!!:lovestruc
Because we leave at midnight she will also have a pair of driving pj's. :rotfl2:

Tinka Bell/Crystal- I love that top and the appliqued minnie and mickey are AWESOME! I love this spring off of the peter pan.
Any news on the minnie dot?
Thanks for the compliment. I have not heard anything about the fabric yet and I am starting to get angry with them. I plan on taking the receipt tomorrow and trying to see if they can find out what the delay is about. It was supposed to be in last friday. :scared1:

I just wanted to post a pic of my new haircut. I think I look cute, and I haven't looked cute since I was 8 months old....I guess I'm finally out of that awkward stage. :rotfl2:

th_DSCN0892-1.jpg

Um, I'd say you look more than cute - HOT is probably the better word! I love your hair! I'm getting mine cut and highlighted this weekend - I can't wait!!

I finally made something for DD! It's a pair of PJs for a sleepover that she is going to this weekend (plus matching headband...thanks for the link!). You can't see the details too well in this picture but the top has a ruffle along the bottom.
th_DSC05572.jpg

Here's a close-up of the fabric. I just love this print!
th_DSC05574.jpg

Thanks for looking!

Oh, she looks so cute in her new PJs - I love the print, too! Very cute!

I just finished a dress for Jenna. This dress is for her to wear while we are driving to WDW. I was in Hancock Fabrics the other day and the lady that was cutting the fabric showed it to me. I thought it was really cute. I thought this fabric is just screaming to become a little girl's dress.
th_S2010138.jpg

This is the detail at the bottom of the dress.
th_S2010140.jpg

It's a Daisy Kingdom fabric.

Wow - so cute! Very vacation-y and perfect for the trip to WDW!

Photos of Ariel outfit-I wasnt feeling too hot today (despite the GORGEOUS 75 degree weather) so I didnt get started on the birthday outfit- it will have to wait for tomorrow. It isn't photographing very well for me today.

here is the Minnie Dot outfit from ebay

here is an upclose shot

here is the sellers listing

should I clip the threads or leave them?

Love the Ariel outfit! The minnie one is very cute, too - I kinda like the curly haired one better - but then, I'm partial to curly haired little girls ;)

Ok here is the sorta of copied shirt.
th_S2010141.jpg

I made this last night.
Here is the dress that I made using fabric that Disneymommieof2 gave me.
th_S2010142.jpg

Thanks again. Jenna loves the dress and the fishies.

Love the minnie/mikey silhouettes! So very cute! I also love the fishies - so fun! I Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Oh - that is just so stinkin cute! I love that you used a shower curtain! We have some very innovative people - now I will be looking at window valances AND shower curtains in a whole new light! DH thinks I'm absolutely crazy!

I don't think that fabric looks like curtains AT ALL! The dress you made with it is absolutely DARLING and I would totally wear it (well, if I had the figure.)
The handbag is really cool, too! Great job!

Because we leave at midnight she will also have a pair of driving pj's. :rotfl2:

Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking about PJs while on vacation. LOL Since I see many cute Disney prints that are flannel, I'm thinking about making some shorts for Zoe with appliqued tees to match. Of course she'd be able to wear them once we get home but I think it would be fun to have something special to wear even at night.

Okay, I have been to every fabric store within driving distance for 2 days and have not found hardly ANY Disney fabric. :confused3
I did compromise and bought one Mickey fabric from Walmart. I cannot find ANY princess fabric....Where do you find it all? I am so clueless..... I have even looked online and apparently I am just not looking on the right spot....Please help a newbie....Lead me oh wise ones!:teacher:

:flower3: Please.

The only places in my area that carry Disney fabric are WalMart (everything is like $3 a yard) or JoAnns- higher prices and more limited supply. WalMart had a ton- I have 3 within about 5 to 10 min from me and only checked one so far- they had quite a few choices.
A local quilt shop had a winnie the pooh quilt panel, but nothing other than that- I have at least 6 local quilt shops and they say they cant carry the licensed stuff.

I love it.

that is the same response I am getting....They cannot carry because is licensed... Anyone know of a place that can?

It's similar in our area. Wal Mart and JoAnns has some but not a lot and JA mostly seems to be flannel. Most quilt shops even online don't carry character prints. I imagine partly it's the license issue with how the fabric is used by the consumer but also because character fabric isn't always very good quality.

I think you're best best is going to be online, possibly Hancocks or a similar chain. Ebay is another source but it seems to get jacked up in price because the sellers know how hard it is for many people to find elsewhere.

I bought some princess fleece today and it says on it that it is for Non commercial use only in bold latters. lol, I have never noticed this before. Is it something new or has it always said that on the shelvage? It does not matter cause it is for my dd for a hoodie but I thought it was odd cause I have not seen that before.

Our Wal-Mart had several Disney fabrics yesterday. I know they had 3 or 4 Mickey fabrics, 2 or 3 Pooh fabrics, 2 Tink fabrics, and several princess fabrics. Hobby Lobby usually has some Disney fabric too if you have one near you. How about Hancocks? I think they have some online too. Look under licensed fabrics.

Questions for those of you making T-shirt dress - do you sew on the skirt with regular straight stitches, or do you use a zig zag stitch? Thanks!

Jenny
