I asked this in the other thread, but not sure if we are still supposed to post there...so I will repost my question here...
For those of you making button down shirts for your ds..which pattern do you use? I use a McCall pattern, and for some reason, I just can't seem to match up the notches and dots for the sleeves....yet when I put the pattern on my fabric, I have marked them all correctly. I tried another boys top this past weekend, and again...I have problem matching up notches/dots on the sleeves again...so I am thinking it must be me...doing something wrong or not understanding the pattern?
Jenny
I haven't made a regular sleeved shirt in awhile, but you are suppose to clip the edges of the piece that is bigger, then pin and stretch the heck out of it to make the pieces line up. At least, that's what Mrs. MCDonald taught me in 8th grade hom-ec!
Ok here are the pictures of DD's room.
Lydia is loving your daughter's room!!!
I guess I'll subscribe here so I don't miss anything!
Denise, those gauchos you made were cute!!!
Thank you - if no-one has answered there is a tutorial on Revrob's site (think the link is in her siggy
I have the tutorial linked in the bookmarks too.
A project finished is a day's accomplishment! Here's my day's accomplishment - the Ariel outfit finally done. Boy I love that tiered skirt - it's quick. I finished it while watching My Dad's better then your Dad. Unfortunately the Dad we wanted to win didn't. Go Kang Family!!
So now I'm on to the Ltd too shirt. New pattern so I'm alittle nervous about it, so wish me luck!
That turned out cute!!!
It's hard to follow Aimee's Evil Queen, but here's one thing I've done lately. This is for my dgd2. I need to get dd2 to try it on, but here it is for now.
I also made some of these for dd2 to wear with her Minnie outfits. Since I took this pic, I've added red/white ribbon for laces. Looks really cute!
MMMMMMMMMMM chocolate................ Cute outfit!!!
I love those shoes, and the Dumbo jeans!! And, I can't wait to see your Cruella!! When's the big reveal?
I have a TOTALLY ADORABLE Ariel skirt and top that a
very dear friend made for Lydia that I need to take a picture of once I find some batteries for my camera......
I am glad I am not the only one. The first time I made it, I thought I did something wrong, so I tried to make a second shirt and double check all my notches/circles and still, it didn't match up. I have a Butterick pattern as well, so maybe I will try that next...I tried the McCall's one first because it said "easy" on it.
My home ec teacher taught us that you are suppose to clip the seams, then pin and stretch to fit.
Just for the record, that chocolate bunny I did was not my idea to begin with. It is defitely CASEd
About the shoes, I just used E6000 and a pair of tweezers. Not really any tricks ... a piece of advice though, keep your crystals in something and not just on the table!!!!! They are easily knocked off and lost! Especially the little 3mm size. How do I know this, you ask? LOL
Yes, I ask, how do you know this??
Before I cut up my patterns for an outfit, I was hoping maybe someone could answer my question. It got lost on the other thread

How do you trace your patterns so you can reuse them and different sizes??
TIA!
Sorry, I know this is such a basic question, but I am a beginner:
I get the tracing paper or fabric and I already own a tracing wheel. How does this work? Does it put little groves that indicate where to cut the lines? Do, I buy some sort of transfer paper? Or do I just put the see through stuff over the pattern and trace with a pencil?
I have a section in the bookmarks about copying the patterns.
You use the tracing wheel with fabric tracing paper (you can get it at the fabric store) You put the tracing paper under your pattern, then trace the pattern or the markings on the pattern right onto your fabric.
So cute, that looks like a Russell Stover chocolate bunny

Isn't it bad enough that after Sawyer's chocolate chip cookie face I had to go and make chocolate chip cookies yesterday?
That is too funny! I was going to make a comment about the delicious cookies my brother in law made yesterday, but I see Heather did, so I will save my comment for her quote....
So DD10 mentions to me last night, as she is working on her oral book report for tomorrow, she is supposed to DRESS UP for her report. They are doing reports on biographies and she chose Sacagawea. All I can say is if I have to do a last minute late-night costume, thank you for choosing Sacagawea! So I ran to Wally's and found some $1 a yard fabric and whipped this up. It's not the greatest (think of what I could've done with some advance notice!) but I was tired and ready for bed. It is also very "static clingy". No time to wash fabric first! I made the "dress", belt, headband, and medicine pouch in probably about 45 mins.

It took me about that long to find my old moccasins in my closet
Ummm....WOW!!!!!!!! You are one TERRIFIC Mommy!!!!!!!

That looks GREAT!!!! Very very impressive, especially for a 45 minute outfit!!!! I can't even cut out fabric in 45 minutes!!!! It takes me that long to clear off the table to START sewing!!!
I went to joanns for the sale over the weekend and this somehow ended up in my cart. Along with 10 yards of muslin (to make photo backdrops) numerous spools of thread, 7 yards of tulle to make a pettiskirt, (which I finally bought the pattern from ycmt.com) so all in all a very expensive trip! LOL I got the serger set up and it works great! I'm going to tackle the petti this afternoon. We'll see how it goes.
COOL!!! Have fun with your new serger!!!
Oh I forgot the best part about the serger! My mom (who the kids haven't seen in a year since she lives so far away) is going to come down for a week next month and show me all the ins and outs of it. I'm so excited!!!!

<-----That's me just THINKING of not seeing my Mom for a year!! How do you do it?
I'm a lurker and I love to lurk on this board. You have done such a wonderful job of making it so easy for me to be a really good lurker. I've been inspired many times but have only made 2 outfits and have gotten many compliments. I gave everyone on this board credit for the outfits.
Aww, you are too sweet!!! Please post pictures of your outfits!! Pretty please!
Yeah, that didn't go so well!! It must be cotton stuff because it just burned and smelled bad, but still frayed.
That just made me laugh!
So, if I tell you that Sawyer was eating ginger cookies, would you make some of those today?

My husband made them. I was astounded!! I have never, in the 18 years we've been together, seen him bake anything! They turned out really good, though!
REALLY REALLY GOOD!!! And BIG!! No little bit sized cookies from my BIL! I was shocked to hear that he had baked cookies!
