It's hard to follow Aimee's Evil Queen, but here's one thing I've done lately. This is for my dgd2. I need to get dd2 to try it on, but here it is for now.

I also made some of these for dd2 to wear with her Minnie outfits. Since I took this pic, I've added red/white ribbon for laces. Looks really cute!

I've also created a 3pc Cruella DeVil outfit for dd7 to wear to MGM, but I can't show it yet.

So cute, that looks like a Russell Stover chocolate bunny  Isn't it bad enough that after Sawyer's chocolate chip cookie face I had to go and make chocolate chip cookies yesterday? :sad2:

I also made these for a friend to go with her Dumbo shirt instead of a skirt.

Wow, those turned out great. I am still scared of jeans and applique. I have yet to combine the two!

Someone (sorry, I don't remember who) suggested "Pattern ease" and that's what I have been using ever since. You can find it with the interfacing and stabilizer. I got mine from Hancock since our Joann's didn't have them.

Sorry, I know this is such a basic question, but I am a beginner:

I get the tracing paper or fabric and I already own a tracing wheel. How does this work? Does it put little groves that indicate where to cut the lines? Do, I buy some sort of transfer paper? Or do I just put the see through stuff over the pattern and trace with a pencil?

How cute! Were these for Maureen's DD?

Funny you should ask! LOL These weren't for her, but she wants some now ;)

I just wanted you all to know that I HATE HATE HATE sewing by hand!!!!

There, just had to vent!

I do have a question- when using braiding and fancy trim, how do you keep it from coming unraveled? At the store, they taped the ends before they cut it, but I don't want tape on his outfit. I tried hot glueing the ends, but it looks stupid.

I HATE it too!!!! I was going to suggest a lighter too. That's what I use on all my ribbon, rickrack and elastic.

applique help now that I have your attention. I recently got an ariel wall hanging (not quilted) that I am turing into dresses for dds. On the edge there are extra of flounder and some flowers that I want to put on the dress. My question.... how much selvage (edge) do I need around the applique to sew it on properly. Do you put anything on the back to adhere it to the dress, like heatn'bond? I think those are the only ????s I have about it. Oh wait, I have just a regular kenmore sewing machine, no embroidery machine, what stitch can I use to edge it? TIA
Lori

So DD10 mentions to me last night, as she is working on her oral book report for tomorrow, she is supposed to DRESS UP for her report. They are doing reports on biographies and she chose Sacagawea. All I can say is if I have to do a last minute late-night costume, thank you for choosing Sacagawea! So I ran to Wally's and found some $1 a yard fabric and whipped this up. It's not the greatest (think of what I could've done with some advance notice!) but I was tired and ready for bed. It is also very "static clingy". No time to wash fabric first! I made the "dress", belt, headband, and medicine pouch in probably about 45 mins. :scared1: It took me about that long to find my old moccasins in my closet :rotfl:

Ooooh!!! I never thought about doing it on elastic! You can learn so much by talking with other sewers!

Can someone explain to me why we keep having new threads? I'm so confused! I go on vacation to WDW, come back and the old thread is gone. Start reading the new one. A few weeks later we have to start round 3! Are we being limited to a certain number of pages/posts? Just wondering. I'm sure the answer is somewhere way way back there!

We were told we were limited to 250 pages so I think we abandoned the old thread soon after for fear it will disappear any moment. I don't think it has yet though. Better safe than sorry I guess.

A project finished is a day's accomplishment! Here's my day's accomplishment - the Ariel outfit finally done. Boy I love that tiered skirt - it's quick. I finished it while watching My Dad's better then your Dad. Unfortunately the Dad we wanted to win didn't. Go Kang Family!!

So now I'm on to the Ltd too shirt. New pattern so I'm alittle nervous about it, so wish me luck!

This is GREAT! Gotta love the tierred skirt. LOVE Ariel!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Chocolate Bunny! Did you use something as a pattern for the bunny shape? Would you mind sharing? That is VERY cute!

Love these too! Great job. Love the lettering for Dumbo.

Here is a basic tutorial
http://disboutiquers.proboards106.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1

I think that link answers most of your questions. I think the only one that it may not answer is about how close to cut around the shape. I cut right on the line around a shape. I don't want the line to show after it's completed, so I cut on the line, and then stitch over it so that it is completely covered.

I've been working on a few things. Making a summer halter for DD and coordinating capris. Hopefully those will be completed today and I can post pics.

Thanks Shannon! I just searched for chocolate bunny pics on Google and found one that I liked. Then saved it and edited it with Paint.

I went to joanns for the sale over the weekend and this somehow ended up in my cart

along with 10 yards of muslin (to make photo backdrops) numerous spools of thread, 7 yards of tulle to make a pettiskirt, (which I finally bought the pattern from ycmt.com) so all in all a very expensive trip! LOL I got the serger set up and it works great! I'm going to tackle the petti this afternoon. We'll see how it goes.

Oh I forgot the best part about the serger! My mom (who the kids haven't seen in a year since she lives so far away) is going to come down for a week next month and show me all the ins and outs of it. :thumbsup2 I'm so excited!!!! :cool1:

When she was finished trying it on she asked me two questions.

1. Can I wear it to the Chick Fila playground?
2. So, what's next?

DD is too funny about the chicken park. She loves it. I do not think Daddy even took her to eat their I think they just played!

Sounds like she needs a Chick-fil-A custom!! My husband and I go to Chick-fil-A every Saturday morning for breakfast. We usually see a daddy and his two kids there... he told us last weekend that the kids love to play and it gives his DW a quite morning to herself. How sweet!!

Before I cut up my patterns for an outfit, I was hoping maybe someone could answer my question. It got lost on the other thread :( How do you trace your patterns so you can reuse them and different sizes??
TIA!

For small pattern pieces I've used Freezer Paper... it's a little stiff but works in a pinch!

Thanks! I found one - it looks like it may be the one you used.

Maybe there is a better way to do it, but I just put it on top of the pattern and trace with a pencil. You can see through it pretty well. I never even thought about using tracing paper and a tracing wheel.

I'm a lurker and I love to lurk on this board. You have done such a wonderful job of making it so easy for me to be a really good lurker. I've been inspired many times but have only made 2 outfits and have gotten many compliments. I gave everyone on this board credit for the outfits.

OK, I will go bach to lurking now.:surfweb:

I love the easter outfit- I think your chocolate bunny is better than the original. Those shoes are awesome!!
