You would be wrong... I wish I were shorter.

I sometimes feel like this. Most of the time Im fine with my height (Im 5'9), but sometimes when Im out with the girls (most of whom seem to be under 5'3!) im like 'oh no, im a giant!' :rotfl:

I think the friendly competition puttered out? It's ok! We can be sister threads. I really like all the gals (and guy) and don't want to lose the spirit of friendship we started. We're in this battle/journey together. :grouphug:

I think it puttered out too! Nevermind, like you said we're all in it together :grouphug:

hey, peeps! i'm home from disney.

Welcome home, I hope you had a great trip!

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

I'm not going to pretend I've read back.

I'm jumping back in. I have 8 pounds to lose before I put on a swim suit.

I gained it this winter eating badly and I hate it! Mimi asked me the other day why my fat only goes to one place? (Thanks, honey) Anyway it's all wrapped right around my waist. My pants that were loose last Sept. when I went to Disney now barely button. I have to wear a jacket due to muffin top.

I'm getting back in shape so I can proudly put on my swim suit!

But.

I do not diet! I limit my calories to what's appropriate and healthy for the weight I want to be.

And I'll exercise. Probably.

So can I come back? :flower3:

Welcome back Melinda! Add me to the list of people who missed your morning posts! (although to me they were afternoon posts!) :lmao:

DH and I celebrated our 24th anniversay a week ago today and that got us talking about the big 25 next year. We're thinking of doing something Disny related, either a cruise or a vowel renewal at WDW, either woulod be tres expensive, so we're not sure of either.

This sounds like a great incentive to lose weight! I would  a Disney Cruise!

The consensus seems to be that July 4 is a good milestone for our next challenge. So who's in? That's 9 weeks (including this week). I'm striving for 6.3 so I can be under 160. 12 would be outta sight, because that would put me below my goal weight. But I'll take just having a "15" at the start of my weight for probably the first time since I was a "tween". (Wendy, I've already got your marked down for 7 - unless you want to change it.)

Will you put me down for 5lbs please. Hopefully I wont totally suck at this challenge!

So, WeightWatchers isn't working for me. I think ive gotten too used to it if that makes sense. I got lazy with it and stopped checking the points value of things, so when it came to writing my points down I'd sometimes be 8 or 10 points over my daily allowance! :scared1: .

Im going to try Slimming World. Its all about food optimizing (whatever that is?!). You have 'green days' - Veg, fruit, potatoes etc and 'red days' - meat. I don't fully understand it yet as I haven't started it (my first meeting is Monday next week), but I do know that you can eat unlimited fruit/veg on your green days and large portions on your red days - this will work for me as lately I seem to have no self-control where portions are concerned, I dont know whats wrong with me :sad1:

Anyway, Im glad I have you peeps to share help me with this! Ive re-evaluated my goal and I want to lose 9lbs before the wedding - I know its not a lot but I really need help :guilty:

Hope everyones having a great day, and sorry for rambling on!

I bolded something in your post - answer = you're human. When you go to your first meeting I would love to hear about this program, I have never heard of it.

Laura

Hi all! Hope everyone had a nice weekend. It was just gorgeous here; it ALMOST makes the 40 below wind chills and 4-foot high snow drifts in the winter worth while. Almost...

All right, here is the final-tally-unless-someone-wants-to-weigh-in-today totals for our Cinco de Mayo thing. Congrats to those who met their challenge! We even had a few who DEMOLISHED their goal. Way to go! As for me, well, better luck next time I guess.

Put me down for 7 pounds by July 4th!

There is nothing wrong with you! As Laura said, you're human! Let's face it, if we didn't have problems with self control when it comes to food, then none of us would be here. The key is to find something, anything, that works for you. Personally, Weight Watchers works for me. But it's definitely not for everyone. If this new one works for you, then super! If not, then you just need to move on to the next one (like counting calories). But no matter what, we're here for you. And you WILL lose those 9 pounds!!!

I canp;t believe I'm writing this, but Aaron, please put me down for 9. Thanks!

BIG congratulations to Gayle (aka DisneyObsession) on NO 2's!!!! I with ya on that : NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Aaron- I think July 4th is a great idea. I need to also make a fitness goal. I'm sort of a tread mill slacker sometimes. 9 weeks? I'll try for 7 pounds then.

Lynda- sorry for your gain but YAY on the swimsuit and necklace! (drink your water, babee!)

Ok, Curvy Girls (and FIT guy)!!!! Last week was a whopping -21.7 with a year to date total of 544.13!!!! YAYYYY! I am soooo proud!! :cheer2:

I think the friendly competition puttered out? It's ok! We can be sister threads. I really like all the gals (and guy) and don't want to lose the spirit of friendship we started. We're in this battle/journey together. :grouphug:

Thanks Wendy! :) I am sure drinking that water! And today a part of our company was having a Cinco de Mayo celebration and they had leftover mexican food, so I brought home lettuce, shredded chicken, mexican rice, tortilla chips, and huge amount of beans. I have had a LOT of beans today, so I think I'm doing good on the fiber too! I'm determined to lose this week. I'd love to have at least a 2 or 3 pound cushion between me and 200 when we go to WDW. Right now that cushion is only .2 lb. NOT ENOUGH!

hey, peeps! i'm home from disney. actually got home yesterday but didn't have time to come by here. i'm tired, but we had a great trip! i started my TR tonight - link's in my signature. hope everyone here had a great week! we ate like crazy people but we did a lot of walking, so i only gained 2 pounds. :thumbsup2 the worst part was the lack of water. we weren't on the DDP this time and so DH and i ended up sharing a lot of stuff (makes more sense for us - we're not huge eaters and we usually don't order dessert anyway). so that meant that we'd share a coke instead of me getting a water like normal. my body is screaming at me right now for the lack of H2O! back to work tomorrow......blah!

Welcome home Dawn! I hope I only gain 2 lbs when we go, but I usually gain more than that. I'm glad to hear you had a great trip! :goodvibes

HI Melinda! :wave2: I'm so happy to "see" you here! You have been missed. You know we'll help you get rid of those 8 lbs. Tell the fam Josh and I say HI! and give 'em all hugs for me. :)

I went off the deep end yesterday shopping, I had so many bags that when I came home I had broken blood vessels on my arms from holding them, my fiance is seriously going to KILL me! He got me a Disney Visa 2 months ago & I spent so much $$$ on it already we probably have enough points for a free vacation :rotfl: I got 2 new bikinis, a bunch of sleeveless shirts, a pair of super comfortable keds ( I usually wear flip flops but I need a pair of sneakers just in case)
this awesome "tokidoki" lesportsace bag for walking around the parks and a pair of Coach burgundy red sunglasses, I have another pair but they are very 'Lauren" from the Hills they are huge not exactly theme park sunglasses, but who knows I will probably wear them.

I've done a bit too much shopping myself lately. But DH and I did hit our goals for the trip, and we didn't even take full advantage of our reward because DH had a slow month at work. I can't complain about the amount of clothes I got though. I got some great deals, and I love the stuff I got.

Put me down for 5lbs. I would make it more, but a week at WDW is very likely to add some back...

I thought I quoted Aaron too, but I guess not. Put me down for 5 lbs too. For the same reason as Kat! :thumbsup2

FANTASTIC! Congratulations!

Aaron, please put me down for 5 lbs. again for July. I thought I would hit my goal this morning, but I was up .2 rather than down. Then we had nachos for dinner tonight, and I'm meeting with my recently widowed friend and our other buddies tomorrow night, and I'm bringing the margaritas. What I'm getting at is, I need a public goal to control myself.
On the upside, I got a lot of Cinco de Mayo exercise today (alright, get your minds out of the gutter). I danced the Mexican Hat Dance 2 1/2 times, and I pulled a very full pinata (probably about 7 lbs.) up and down for about 20 minutes this afternoon. Just above my shoulder blades and just below my arms on my back are SORE. We had a great time, though.

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

Thanks again for the welcome! So good to see all my friends here! I've missed you all!!!

Yesterday was a big of a struggle. I didn't realize how much I was garbage mouthing.....if it looks good, eat it. I pulled my hand back from DS's tater tots last night at the last second. Hmmm.

Also I walked DS to school and walked back to get him yesterday. It's a start. Gotta get back to my Slim in 6 DVD that showed such great results last summer.

So my plan is simply: Lots of water, lots of fiber, 1400 calories and exercise.

FIDGE? Fidge! Is that you, honey?

Lynda!...Love and hugs to you and Josh too!

Tara! There's a DS is your siggie now! Congratulations! How's he doing?

c4alymom
...50 pounds! Awesome!

LMO...25 pounds! Wonderful! How'd you do it?

Rx....I'm Melinda. Nice to meetcha. Are you a pharmacist?

Aaron....Put me down for the 10. Hopefully 5 of it is water weight! ;)

Laura, GA, Kat, Gina, Danielle, Aries, Pixie
....:wave2:

HAVE A GREAT DAY, EVERYONE!

I have been doing weight watchers since Dec I LOVE IT! I have lost over 20 pounds on it. You know the old saying your mom is always right! My mom is a lifetime member after she had my brother she weighed in at 180 pounds today she weighs 125 and has kept the weight off for over 15 years and how does she do it...weight watchers! I am so mad I did not listen to her sooner. You can eat what you want (in moderation) and have a life. I use to limit such things as carbs, or sugars and do every fad diet out there & still struggle to lose weight. I would go out to dinner with friends and eat a salad because i was on a "diet" only to come home to binge later. With weight watchers I can go out to dinner with my fiance and friends eat what everyone else is eating and still lose weight. I can have a couple of beers at a baseball game and not feel awful about it the next day

I guess it just taught me how to eat right & lose the all or nothing attitude that has haunted me for years. For years I would eat perfect all day and then the second I popped 2 m&ms in my mouth the next thing I would know i would be knee deeps in the closet eating everything in site Binging all because in my head I had "BLOWN MY DIET FOR THE DAY..I WILL START AGAIN TOMORROW BEING PERFECT!" I think weight watchers has taught me there is no such thing as being PERFECT you are going to have to give into your temptations and its ok..its ok to have cookies, its ok to drink margaritas in moderation....in the beginning i was frustrated because the weight does come off slow, a pound here a half a pound there but that is the correct way you are suppose to lose weight anytime you drop weight faster than that you will gain it back but after a month i had lost 5 pounds, 2 pounds 10 and now today I am 129.5 pounds in decemeber i was 154.

the other thing that really helped me is consistently exercising 5 to 7 days a week, i do not work out everyday but i consistently go, especially if i had a bad day eating wise the day before it just keeps me on track and puts me back into healthy habits I will go to the gym or do the jillian michael dvds which are excellent

Melinda-He is doing great, thanks for asking! I am able to take him to work with me which is nice..for now. DH and I are trying to rig it so I won't have to work int he fall (I have summers off) We'll see though..a few things need to fall into place. Like the selling of my horse!!! :headache: The lady from yesterday said he is her first choice but wants to check out another horse to be sure and also ride mine again. Emotional roller coaster!! Luckily there isn't any food in the house that I am tempted to scarf down.

Have a great day ladies! :goodvibes

Nice job, that's awesome:thumbsup2

What I'm getting at is, I need a public goal to control myself.

That is so true for me as well

Do you ahve any pictures to post. I  seeing baby pictures. How awesome you can bring him to work with you, what do you do?

*********

Well I did so-so yesterday. I brought DD2 to the pedi because since thurs she's been pooh: ing, since Saturday a fever of at least 102 (104 was her highest last night) and she was talking like she had strep throat. Well the doctor says he doesn't think it's strep but coxsocki which you can't do anything for except wait it out. Her throat is so red and sore and without grossing anyone out has so much pus. Poor baby, she can't eat but wanted Chicken nuggets so bad so I went to McD's and bought her nuggets and she ate at least 1 1/2 which I was glad for because she really hasn't eaten anything this whole weekend. Well I was so bad I ate :scared1: I'm not going to tell you but it's really bad. But I will tell you that's all I ate yesterday until dinner i had a WW dinner and I drank all of my water. I'm supposed to weigh in at WW today so I'm going to see if someone will stay by the car while I run in and get weighed then me and her will go home. Talk to everyone later.

Laura:flower3:

If anyone has any extra pixie dust or prayers I could use them. I'm getting ready to take the Nursing 202 final exam and I'm extremely nervous. :scared: I didn't sleep at all last night. Not even 5 minutes. :guilty: The final counts for 25% of our grade. It could make me :thumbsup2 or break me :sad1: . Thanks everyone in advance.

Sending you some Pixie Dust! :wizard: I am sure you will do fine!

I figured I'd better check in before I really fall off the wagon. I've been doing ok, monitoring what I eat, even if I don't know all the points in it. I got a much bigger plate of food than I expected at dinner the other night so I gave almost half of it to the kiddos.

I'm still doing the up and down thing...... It's so frustrating. I will fluctuate as much as 5lbs in a week. I know part of it (and I think a big part at that) is a sluggish digestive tract. Fiber and water help but not by much.

I have learned that can be satisfied with fewer than 20 pts but I try not to do it too often so my body doesn't go into starvation mode.

Hey Aaron~ Add me to July 4th Sparkler challenge. I'll work towards 5lbs; for the same reasons as the others who are also visiting the home planet this month. (We're almost in single digits!!! WOO HOOOOTY!)

It's great to see some of our original peeps are coming back. We've missed y'all. I did send a PM to Sandy the other day, she said 'Hi!' to everyone. She's doing more lurking than posting these days.

I've got to run, my BIL flies in today (he's moving in as well, not just pet sitting.....) and I still have passports and travel journals to finish for the kids. I'll get pix and post them sometime, our camera battery is dying and I have to order a new one before vacation.

Fran~ Lots of PD and well wishes coming your way! I am a very good test taker so I don't stress about tehm too much but I know everyone is different.
