I mentioned before that I was considering buying a treadmill. For those of you who already have them: Do you really use them enough to justify the purchase?

It really depends on you. If you are serious and motivated, you can use it everyday. If you're not so motivated, you may not use it much unless it's as a clothes rack. ;) We wanted/needed a TM so we bought a fairly low end one from Walmart. It is fairly heavy and had to be assembled at home. There is an adjustable incline but you have to do it by hand which is a pain. However, it does fold up so you clear some floor space if you need to. I enjoyed being on the TM while watching TV so I would use it more when the TV was on. I focused more on walking than I did on how much time I had left.

You can try looking at a sports equipment resale store (Play it Again Sports for example) and see if they have anything you like before purchasing new. I've also seen them at Goodwill and other thrift stores. Don't forget your local classifieds either.

Well ladies, and Aaron; I start my new job in the morning so I need to get a full night's sleep. I'll check in after work.

Welcome iluvmickeytown!

Abish, I don't own a TM... I had a mini-stepper that I blew up, and my coworker just gave me a Gazelle. Personally I don't like the Gazelle much, feels sort of flimsy, but I really liked the mini stepper. It didn't have handles, just feet, but I think that helps work core muscles. It was about $40 at wal-mart and DH had it for 4-5 yrs before I blew it out.

A TM would be too big for us, DH would never let me set up something like it. However, if you want one, I would comb your local craigslist. http://www.craigslist.org and find your city... lots of people throw out exercise equipment or sell it for cheap.

I still have an icky cold.

Aniella is sooooooo cute!!!! I would do the feet picture in black and white and frame it! What cute little piggies!
oooo!! me too! I love black & white pics and those sandy little toes are adorable! Love that one!

Hi Ladies, oops if they're any men.
I recently lost 34lbs. But the last couple of weeks I've had a really hard time sticking to my diet. In fact I haven't been on it. I keep telling myself that I'll start it again tomorow.Kind of what got me in trouble in the first place:lmao: . Anyway is there room for one more on this thread? I could use some support thanks.:hippie:

Jump right on! We're glad to have you!

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE! :sunny:

ILUVMICKEYTOWN....:welcome: Can you give us a shorter name? ;) Please post often!

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE! :sunny:

EVERYBODY HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK!

The only update on Ryan I got was yesterday morning. His new medicine is very powerful that they check vitals every 10 minutes the first hour, 15 the second hour, 30 for hour 3 and 4 then on an hourly basis for the remaining 8 hours. He has one more of these treatments today and they are hoping to have an update tonight or in the moring. He has a new roomate---a 5mth old and the parents are never around--so just say a prayer for this little one as well.

Joshua started perking up yesterday mid morning so I think and hope we are on the upside of this. Must go and start getting everyone ready. Have a blessed day.

Aaron! 20 days?!

Are you coming to the peep meet? What are your arrival/departure dates?
Yep, 20 (well, actually 19 now) days and counting! We are heading out Sept 15 and leaving Sept 23. But no Peep meet for me. I have relatives that live in the Tampa/St Pete area, and we are going to be spending some time with them. So I don't know where I'll be, or when. But if I see the Peep t-shirts, I'll be sure to say "hi"!

:) Hey everyone!
WELCOME to the newbies...you will  it here!!
Prayers and :grouphug: for all that need them!

I can't believe its Monday already ..wow!
I had a great weekend, got to the gym a couple of times, did ok with the eating. Greg and I played hosts to both sets of parents and his little brother Saturday night, and we grilled out so it wasnt' SO unhealthy, i made a "light" potato salad, corn on the cob....but of course i had to go and make my " cheesecake oreo trifle.." oh it is sinful..but 1/2 as sinful as it could be because i used all light ingredients..shhhh don't tell them that! ;)

It is beautiful here today in MA...feels almost like fall again..bring it on I say!

OH i actually watched BB last night for the first time...wow. Those people are action packed full of issues...makes for good TV though. THat Dick character looks sleazy and sneaky..is he?? And that Amber, is she really that full of herself? I had to crack up when she was going on about her "nice body" and ' her pretty face.".I need to catch up...lol!

Have a great day everyone!! :cool1:

morning everyone! i just got up about an hour ago.......sooooooo tired from six flags! we were only there for 5 hours but sweating that much in those 5 hours just takes it outta me! we rode goliath 3 times and superman 3 times and everything else at least once! no lines - i was surprised!

hope you guys had a good sunday!

dick is a big baby who throws a fit when things don't go his way. it's a shame because sometimes i see a nice guy buried deep inside there. amber is just a psycho. period. i mean, she's not hideous, but she's DEFINITELY not model material!!! that was hilarious last night when they were showing her talking about modeling. gimme a break! she's the one we always talk about crying so much. they only showed her crying once last night - usually it's about 10 times each episode! my favorite players right now are jessica and jameka. although i'm not really cheering for any of them this year......just not very good housemates. there's no janelles, no howies, no kasars, no jasons or lisas!

you brave girl..that superman ride at our local six flags ( New England) makes me turn such beautiful shades of GREEN..not cute.
HA..i love the synopsis you gave me. From what i saw last night i would lean towards Jameka and Jessica as well. they seem decent enough. Its funny, I was always one to watch survivor, Real World, all those crazy reality shows, but now i think the contestants are just so into just being "famous" from the shows that they aren't even being real people anymore. I don't feel "attached" like I used to, even American Idol and SYTYCD feels that way, although i still watch those.
Biggest Loser though, thats a different story..i can't wait for that one to come back on! :) I always find someone to really like on there!

So I am sorry I skipped wiegh in and haven't much been around the last couple days.
We looked at another apartment. We decided we liked it and sent them our app and credit reports. The real estate agent we were working with asked them about our dog twice in my presence and told me she had asked once before hand. We loved the location and could deal with the price ($950/mo) so we were getting nervous to hear whether we were approved today or not. Guess what? they were WRONG about the DOGs and Liam would not be allowed because dogs in that complex are not allowed and they can only be grandfathered in. Hmmm. So, where does that leave us?? After around 50 phone calls and a dozen or so apartments looked at-- 2 options, both with no dog, and on top of that nothing else we can find that is feasable with him. Either we can't afford it or they don't allow dogs or they are junk. I just don't know what to do anymore. I almost wish we had never got him because then I wouldn't be so in love with him and it wouldn't hurt so much thinking that I have to leave him. I know dogs have feelings and all but will he feel abandoned if we have to get rid of him? Will he miss us like we would miss him? I feel like I would be abandoning my child. I wish we had more options. I don't know really what else to do. Any advice? What would you guys do? :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Before i give you any kind of "sage" advice I have a couple of questions. Where are you living with Liam right now? Is it with your family, would you be able to leave him there if you were to move out, that way he would not be left with strangers? And if that is not the case, do you have friends, family that you would give him too if you do decide to move without him?

Rob lives with two roommates now, and I live with my parents. I stay with Rob on the weekends and am there almost everyday. Rob and I are Liams only caretakers-- the roommates look out for him but don't do any of the feeding or walking or such. And they would not be much of an option for giving Liam too... I have seen the way they take care of themselves and don't think they could take care of a dog. On the other hand, my parents would probably agree if I was heartbroken but I don't think it would make for a good situation-- my brother had a Shiba Inu which would mean both dogs would be confined to one floor or the other for most of the day, he wouldn't get the attention he gets from us because of a second dog and I don't think my parents would WANT to.
I talked to Rob from work before and he was upset as well, but stands by not wanting to get rid of the dog. I just don't know how we can def do that if we only have another week to find a place.
Any sage advice?

OH dear..that is so tough:sad1: I am such an animal lover too and i can't imagine being in your shoes! I would say hold out for a place that includes Liam. Is there anyone that your boyfriend can stay with once his apt. is gone or is he straight out without any place to stay in the meantime. You are with your parents so obviously you and Liam have a roof over your heads for now, which is good obviously. SO as much of a " not perfect situation" it would be to have your pup at your parents for a while, its still better than getting rid of him, I think. Are you guys thinking of bringing him to an animal shelter? I implore you not to do that, even if that is your last ditch effort...That is my only advice I guess, sorry its not so helpful..but i certainly do feel for you!

Oh what an awful problem! I can't imagine having to give-up my Mags. :sad2: You've probably already done these, but I'd try:

1. Contacting local humane society to ask about pet friendly apartment/houses in the area. Ours keeps an up-to-date listing of apartment complexes/landlords that will allow dogs. Maybe they have one or two that you didn't know about.

2. Also try contacting your vet's office.

3. Camp out at the local dog park. Strike up a convo with people owned by dogs about the same size as Liam and see where they live.

4. Talk to anyone and everyone about good places to rent. You never know who has an aunt/grandma/friend who has a garage apartment for rent.

5. Advertise yourselves as potential renters on Craigslist.

6. Get Liam certified as a "Canine Good Citizen," and give a copy of the certification to any potentail landlords. Also get "references" from previous landlord, vet, pet sitter, roommates, friends.

7. Expand your search area a bit -- maybe there is something in the next town over?!?

8. Assuming he is a well behaved, charming boy, I'd take Liam apartment shopping with me. Let him show off his good manners and winning personality. I mean, who could say no to a sweet loving little face??

BTW what breed or mix of breeds is he?? That could make a big diff in someone bending the rules...

Good luck, I'm sending happy thoughts your way!!

<YAWN> It's Monday and I am ready to go home and go to sleep! Aunt Flo always tires me out the first 2 days, so working really isn't what I want to be doing!

Eating has been OK, but I did have chinese food last night and asdelicious as it was, it wasn't good for me. However, today is a new day! I am staying focused today!

but honestly, if I cant manage the darn Hot flashes, I'm going to have a breakdown!! I'm hoping adding the calcium, Vit E, Black Cohosh will help - if not I'm going to demand some HRT for a year!! (of course then you add 5 - 10# oh yeah, that was a side effect of dh's cholestorel meds too!!! :rotfl2: )

I am told Soy helps with the hot flashes. I have a friend who drinks soy milk every morning and it has helped alot! :confused3 It's worth a try, I think. I need to buy some my next shopping trip!

I agree with UM, this would look great in black & white, framed in black, in an 11x14! :thumbsup2 Something you would always have on the wall! I have one of my 3 kids when the twins were 5 and DS was 3. They are playing "dress-up" and it is adorable! The kids ask how long it will be on my wall and I tell them "FOREVER"! ;)

My little one is sick with fever 101.5 and has just been laying here and saw the Mickey heads and he perked up for a minute smiling and say MICKEY!! your DD is adorable!! Have fun at the beach. We got much needed rain here today--didn't rain long enough but it was rain none the less. Have a good night everyone.

I hope your son is feeling better. Nothing worse than when they are sick.

Hello to all the newbies! Just jump right in, you'll love it here. (And yep, as Dawn - aka Punkin - told you, I'm the resident guy here. Not sure what it says about me that I feel like I fit right in!)

Maybe that you are in touch with your "feminine side"?!? :rotfl2:

Abish....I have bananas that are banana bread ready too! I hate to throw them away so I think I'll make the banana bread and take it to work. Can you take the pie somewhere to share? A neighbor's house? I agree with Noni and the treadmill....look for a used one. There are plenty at thrift stores, yard sales, auctions, classifieds. Take advantage of someone else's lack of motivation!

I have 4 bananas on my counter that will be banana bread tonight! I plan on bringing them to some neighbors! Figure I'll get at least 2-3 loaves out of it.

I am so sad for you! I will pray that you find a place that will take the dog. Are there any houses for rent you could look at? Good Luck.

We're back from vacation and ready to hop back up onto the wagon -- dh and I each privately jumped onto the scale this morning. I don't know what his said -- all I heard was a loud gasp from the bathroom :lmao: -- but mine was up about 6 pounds. I know I ate a lot of food on the disney dining plan, and it wasn't real healthy, so I'm willing to own this gain and get to work now. :hippie:

Need to get back to exercise and healthy eating -- hope you're all having a great day!!

Sandy!

Thank you ever so much for the gift. The kids will love the books and the baby will look darling in her new outfit.

You are so thoughtful thank you!

Malorie made out like a bandit yesterday. I have an aunt who works for Macy's and she shows up to all the kids parties with a huge bag full of clothes. My sister hit one of old navy's sales, and Malorie must have gotten 5 winter coats. She's set for the next 4-5 years.
