Rob lives with two roommates now, and I live with my parents. I stay with Rob on the weekends and am there almost everyday. Rob and I are Liams only caretakers-- the roommates look out for him but don't do any of the feeding or walking or such. And they would not be much of an option for giving Liam too... I have seen the way they take care of themselves and don't think they could take care of a dog. On the other hand, my parents would probably agree if I was heartbroken but I don't think it would make for a good situation-- my brother had a Shiba Inu which would mean both dogs would be confined to one floor or the other for most of the day, he wouldn't get the attention he gets from us because of a second dog and I don't think my parents would WANT to.
I talked to Rob from work before and he was upset as well, but stands by not wanting to get rid of the dog. I just don't know how we can def do that if we only have another week to find a place.
Any sage advice?
Oh what an awful problem! I can't imagine having to give-up my Mags.

You've probably already done these, but I'd try:
1. Contacting local humane society to ask about pet friendly apartment/houses in the area. Ours keeps an up-to-date listing of apartment complexes/landlords that will allow dogs. Maybe they have one or two that you didn't know about.
2. Also try contacting your vet's office.
3. Camp out at the local dog park. Strike up a convo with people owned by dogs about the same size as Liam and see where they live.
4. Talk to anyone and everyone about good places to rent. You never know who has an aunt/grandma/friend who has a garage apartment for rent.
5. Advertise yourselves as potential renters on Craigslist.
6. Get Liam certified as a "Canine Good Citizen," and give a copy of the certification to any potentail landlords. Also get "references" from previous landlord, vet, pet sitter, roommates, friends.
7. Expand your search area a bit -- maybe there is something in the next town over?!?
8. Assuming he is a well behaved, charming boy, I'd take Liam apartment shopping with me. Let him show off his good manners and winning personality. I mean, who could say no to a sweet loving little face??
BTW what breed or mix of breeds is he?? That could make a big diff in someone bending the rules...
Good luck, I'm sending happy thoughts your way!!
