MY FORMULA FOR CB........
Sounds like alot to me, but since I haven't worked in 13 years, it could just be me.
My goal from the beginning has always been to raise a happy and well-behaved dog. My DH, always having wanted a beagle (read: STUBBORN), got to pick the breed this time, and I knew it would be a challenge based on everything I have read. It HAS been a challenge. Jasper is great in some ways. She will do many commands and is, in fact, pretty well behaved if she is not given too much freedom. But she jumps on the cat(wants to play with him), tries to chew on his catnip toys (She already acts like she's on crack sometimes without catnip being involved!), doesn't yet reliably come when called, & snaps at us (acts like she is going to bite although she doesn't bite down) occassionally if we make her do something she doesn't want to do. The instructor at class says that it takes an average of 100 hours of training to get a well behaved dog! We are maybe half way there. Even with all the frustration that I experience with her, when she does something right (which is much more often than it used to be), I get so excited. It is so rewarding to know that I taught her to do something. I am showing DH that this can be done, and if it is this rewarding to teach a puppy something, how rewarding must it be if it is a child? And I DO think that a lot of this experience will carry over to raising a child - at least in some way!
And hang in there with the dog training too! I FEEL you pain and frustration - believe me!
I had to do the "pee pee wiggle dance" in the car. I made it to the ice rink just in time.
) I think I get that way when I pms. Did I mention I have been having pms symptoms for a week and a half!?!
