Thanks for the encouragement. I am actually looking forward to starting.

I'll be "back" to the gym on Monday. I've been paying for many months now and couldn't tell you the last time I was there. I've scheduled time on Monday to get back to working out,

My DH was also recently diagnosed with Type II diabetes, so this will definitely benefit the both of us.

Looking forward to reporting my progress:)

Count me in! I really need to lose some weight before our trip in July and this is the push I need to be accountable for my potential weight loss.
This may sound like a cop out but I don't have a good schedule for exercise. I work nights, my DH works days and I have 4 kids with only one in school all day. So I'm just going to try to get out and walk after I take my DS & DD to school twice a week and when the weather is good and everyone is awake I'll take a long walk to meet my DS at the bus stop in the PM. As for what diet to do - there are sooooo many to choose from. I think I'm going to just go with the special diet I had during my last pregnancy when I had Gestational Diabetes. Basically low carbs, sugar & calories with the ability to have a small portion of sweets laid out on a time schedule. It helped me to only gain 12lbs overall with an 8lb 12oz DS.
I don't expect to ever get to my 'ideal' weight. Who made those charts anyway??? Must have been a man! I just want to get rid of my belly & butt.

Good luck everyone!!:Pinkbounc

I just found this and have been reading. I could use the support in a big way. I have done all the diets that one can possibly do. I even did opti-fast with Oprah. We were doing it at the same hospital and I would bump into her at weigh-in each week.

Needless to say, I always regained the weight. I did do Jenny on and off 3 times and have managed to maintain a 50lb loss over the last 3 years. But, I'm still very overweight and need to lose another 40lbs. I decided to do Atkins and have lost 10lbs. in 2 weeks. A good start. I am going on a cruise in 7 weeks and would like to drop another 10-15 before it, so I was glad to find this group to give me encourgement.

Thanks for listening.

Just started Weight Watchers on Thursday. I've been lurking on these boards for about a month and decided to join the WISH Challenge for encouragement. I've got to get some pounds off before we go to WDW in May!! Thanks for this great forum.

I just love seeing new faces on the WISH board. It's just so great!

mickeymouse70 I'm glad to see you here. Don't be angry with yourself for gaining weight, look what a positive step you are taking to correct that! You should be feeling very proud of yourself.

You've been lurking here on WISH? Okay, well, I hope you realize no more lurking allowed? You have to join in with us everyday now. You've already had your lurking allowance and used it up ;)

cart-mom I'm really glad to see you have taken control and will be watching your carbs and sugar etc. That should really help with any tendencies you have to diabetes. Welcome to WISH, sounds like you are determined to get your exercise whenever and wherever you can. Good for you!

susan514 Losing 10 pounds in two weeks is an awesome beginning to your new and healthy lifestyle. I follow the Atkins plan, too, there are several of us here on WISH who follow controlled carbohydrate eating. I'm so glad you will be here with us now.

I'll make you a deal, I'll encourage you and you encourage me. That should work out nicely. What do you think?

ethansmommy34 There are lots of WW's here on WISH, you will have lots of company. I'm really glad you decided to delurk and join us. I hope you can visit WISH everyday. It's helpful for me and I'm very sure you will find it helpful too.

It makes me smile to see so many new people taking the WISH challenge. Together we can do this, everyone!

Onward and downward!

Katholyn

Nativetxn, have not been lurking just been busy and gone. Will you forgive me if you know that I was at a TOPS convention? It was awesome and it wore me out so much that I actually lost weight even though I was eating out each day.

I lost 2.5 pounds the first week of the month and .5 last week. I had an almost 3 pound loss going this week but some snuck back on while I was sleeping. Thinking I should spread some talcum powder from the bed to the fridge and make sure I am not 'sleep eating". LOL The second 75 pounds is much harder to lose than the first.

I am not giving up though. I have worked far too hard to get this far and if I never lose another pound I refuse to get discouraged and gain what I have lost back. I just wish I had learned all this much younger in my life.

I admire those of you who have taken charge of your lives before it got too out of control and young enough in your lives to make the maximum impact on the rest of your life.

I also admire those who are late bloomers and are making a change that will give the rest of your life more mobility and verve.

Is there anyone here who does not know about "Dottie's"? I highly reccomend it as a resource for much diet advice, especially if you are into the WW diet.

A wonderful day full of movement and energy to you all! Off to walk - -

Me Too Me Too Me Too!!!

This sounds so great! I definitely could use the support! DH and I are both starting a weight watchers type of program at home. I have the cookbooks, and I'm all set to cut out the bad stuff! I'm also an exercise lover. I'll be doing my treadmill at home and my office has a fantastic gym where I'm able to do weights during lunch.

Wish me luck... I can't wait to get my first ribbon!!!

Hi mrsltg. It's great to see you here on WISH. The more the merrier. I love the support and encouragement I find here on WISH.

Good luck with your new eating plan. I'm happy for you taking control like this. You sound very determined. I hope you can visit with us everyday.

You can add the DIS WISH challenge clipart to your signature now. There are some really good instructions on how to do this (written by one of my favorite WISHers, Wovenwonder) and you will find those directions right HERE

Just don't get too attached to that challenge clipart. I have a really strong feeling that you will be trading up to the 5 pound loss clippie very, very soon ;)

Linda, you make me proud of you every single day. I think it's great that you were at a TOPS convention :teeth:

Katholyn

Nativetxn, the next time you see me in person I will be a whole new person. I am going to see a specialist in a few weeks to see if they can fix my hearing. The next get together I will be able to enjoy more than just your friendly smile.

How are you doing on your dieting? I am a font of knowledge since I have spent many years doing the wrong thing and might be able to help out some. I have many great recipes but I think I saw where you are doing the Adkin's diet and I am doing the WW thing. I had too many problems with the Adkin's diet although I have to admit that this carnivore enjoyed it very much in the beginning. LOL

SG/Linda

Thanks, Katholyn! I have updated my signature and can't wait to change it to "5 lbs" and so on! What a great idea! I have my gym bag all packed up and ready to go for lunch time... I'm pysched! Good luck to everyone else!

Erin :D

I guess I am ready to accept the WISH challenge as I just got some pictures back from a friend's wedding that will make lovely "before" pictures :o My goal is to lose 35 pounds. I am going to try Weight Watchers this time although I was very tempted to try the Atkins diet. I am hoping that the weight loss won't be slower by opting for the Weight Watchers plan. I dread the thought of counting points!

Hi there CRS. I understand about counting points but I have found that, after a bit, it is pretty easy as you tend to eat the same things over and over and know the points of each thing. I like counting points better than counting calories as it is easier to add 3 plus 3 rather than 150 plus 150. LOL

I use my time in stores looking for good point values as a source of exercise also. One day at a time and no regrets is my new motto.

Hi crs7568, I'm really glad you decided to take the WISH challenge. We have a wonderful support group here and you will make a terrific addition. I personally think the more the merrier.

WISH is an equal opportunity program, we have WW and Atkins and every discipline of eating programs represented here. You have a ready made WW support group and a huge emotional support group. I think you're going to like it here.

I hope you can visit us often. Don't be shy either. I love seeing lots of posts on WISH. If you want to add the challenge clipart there is a great post telling you how to do that right HERE

Okay, Linda (slightly goofy), I can't wait to see you again. Did you ever determine when the Indianapolis meet will be held?

Katholyn

Have decided to change my board name to 'Skinny Minnie" as soon as I deserve the title. LOL

Katholyn, no I have not heard anything more about the Indy meet. Will have to go over to the CB and see if anything is going on as I have not received any messages from that direction lately. Would be nice if it were soon.

SG/Linda

Ok I'm going to do it. I had my 1st WW meeting last week and have my 2nd weigh in tomorrow. I'm trying to not hang too much on it, but I hope there will be some small loss. I have learned so much from this board and just want to thank everyone for sharing their tips and knowledge. My overall goal is to lose 20% but to do it by making good choices and not sacrifices.

Alice

Hey Alice! WTG, when the time is right, this diet DOES work! Best wishes your first week!

Good for you, Alice, Sr. I can't wait to see how your first weigh in goes. Be sure and post to our WISH check-in for 4/13. Jiminy102 posts a check-in thread every week. It's my very favorite WISH thread :)

Katholyn

Okay, it's finally time to drop the baby weight (especially since the "baby" is now three and a half!!). I am not doing Atkins or WW, just simply changing my liefstyle, healthier eating, and more exercise. Gotta remember, it's not about how much you lose, but about how much better you feel about yourself!

OK it is about time for me to bite the bullet and accept the challenge.

My plan is to simply reduce the amount of food I eat by 1/2 - this should be simple - as most Americans - me included - eat way more than we need.

I intend to buy a treadmill and do at least 4 times a week - start of weasy (or easy) and work my way up.

The goal is to lose 40 lbs.

WISH me luck.......

Welcome BabyTigger99 and Trekker :) :) It's great to see you here.

Grab a clipart and join in, there are some amazing people here!

You CAN do this!! Good Luck! :)
